UPDATE! THE DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO OCTOBER 17TH!!

📢📢IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL TO ACTION!!📢📢
Gonzales Dog Adoptions (GDA) has been contracted by the City of Gonzales to operate the municipal dog shelter for over a decade (since 2011). Until January, our monthly budget was $2,300 ($27,600 annually). Since February, our budget has increased to $4,000 per month.

We currently operate under a year-to-year contract, which requires annual renewal and have done so in good faith for over a decade. Having reached our goal of $100,000 to construct a new building on city-owned property, we seek approval for a 10-year contract. This will ensure GDA's continued operation as a No-Kill shelter, serving the City of Gonzales.

The new building won't increase our dog capacity but will provide better shelter for our current intake during harsh weather conditions. We urge the community, our donors and supporters to attend the city council meeting on October 17th at 6:00pm to support our mission to continue providing vital services for our community .

This is AWESOME 👏

BIG NEWS! Our lifesaving work on the frontlines is expanding – nationally! We have been gifted Fido Fixers program, a nationwide mobile spay and neuter initiative with a fleet of eight fully equipped, surgical vans.

You may recall that we have hosted a van for the past two years, over which our vet team has been able to spay and neuter thousands of pets annually who otherwise would not have received care. Now, in addition to the work on that van, we will oversee the success of the entire fleet!

So, what exactly is Fido Fixers? The program partners with shelters and veterinarians at organizations across the country who agree to perform at least 200 surgeries a month and are responsible for staffing and running the clinics. In addition to PAC’s unit, Fido Fixers vans are in North Carolina, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and Los Angeles. As of August, Fido Fixers has conducted 154,000 spay and neuter surgeries, all at low or no cost.

Lisa Wysocki, of Greenwich, CT, founded Fido Fixers in 2012, with the goal of ending the euthanasia of unwanted pets by providing accessible spay and neuter surgeries in communities with high kill rates. Ready for retirement, Lisa felt PAC would be best to take over the program. Lisa said, “Providence Animal Center shares Fido Fixer’s vision that the best way to reduce the problem of pet overpopulation is with a spay and neuter program. PAC has a tremendous amount of stability and a lot of depth. The leadership at PAC is organized, motivated and focused.”

PAC’s Fido Fixers mobile van regularly visits Delaware County locations and Philadelphia. For more information about signing up a local pet in need for a spay or neuter surgery, visit https://tinyurl.com/5y6zawaj. For locations nationwide, and to support the program visit FidoFixers.org.
