ClawSkinz

ClawSkinz The ClawSkinz™ product was first conceptualized a decade ago by people who have lived with feline companions for many years. You Decide!!

We enjoy their quirky personalities and see them as part of the family, and as family they are also contributors to the household carbon footprint. Living in the Pacific Northwest, in Oregon, reducing household waste and carbon footprint has become a way of life. Oregon has always been on the cutting edge of reducing the carbon footprint of humans through the reduction of household waste and in th

is same spirit we determined there was an opportunity to reduce the carbon footprint of our feline friends by creating an eco-friendly scratching post. ClawSkinz is eco-friendly in several ways:
• The base and cap are made from wood which is a sustainable and biodegradable resource.
• The Post is made from rigid paper tubes which is a sustainable and recyclable resource.
• The base, cap, and post are reusable. Never buy another throw away scratching post again.
• The carpet scratching surface is replaceable. You only replace the carpeted scratching sleeve!
• Cats usually have a "Scratch Zone" either low or high on the post. with ClawSkinz when one Scratch Zone is depleted simply slip-off the scratching sleeve, flip it over, and slip-on the post. The second Scratch Zone is now usable.
• One depleted ClawSkinz carpeted scratching sleeve is only 1 pound of waste. Compare that to the throw away carpet scratching posts you have used in the past. How do they compare to ClawSkinz environmental and sustainability standards? Estimated yearly landfill waste for Disposable Carpet Scratching Posts:
= 154 Million Pounds or 77,000 Tons. Estimated yearly landfill waste for ClawSkinz (if only ClawSkinz purchased): = 15.4 Million Pounds or 7,700 Tons. Estimated Landfill waste based on data and assumptions below:
(Items 1-4: 2011-2012 APPA National Pet Owners Survey)

1. 38.9 million: Number of U.S. Households who have a cat(s).
2. 52%: Percent of U.S. Households who own a scratching post.
3. 76%: Percent of U.S. Households who prefer carpeted scratching posts.
4. 15.4 million: Number of U.S. Households who (1) have a cat(s), (2) own
a scratching post, and (3) Prefer Carpeted Scratching posts.

**Assumption 1: Each of the 15.4 million households discards one scratching post per year into a landfill and purchases a new one.
**Assumption 2: Each carpeted scratching is equivalent to 10 pounds of waste.
**Assumption 3: Only for U.S.
