Congratulations to Benny (Gunnison) from our National Parks Litter! He has officially passed all training to become a certified therapy dog! Benny lives on the east coast and his mom knew before she chose Benny as a pup that she wanted a dog who could train to be a therapy dog and visit medical settings with her. In addition to his medical visits, Benny goes to schools and loves going to local libraries to let kids read to him. Benny is definitely living his best life! 😁💙

Tigger goes home! Tigger's family also is a two-time Timber Whippet family! Tigger joins a sister from the 2021 National Park's litter! Tigger's sister and family are very active in flyball and other events and we know that Tigger is going to love being active! Winnie has joined her forever family! This Timber Whippet family now has two Timber Whippets! Pluto, from the first Disney litter, is four years old and has been one of their family members since he was eight weeks old. His trim and agile body allows him to have one of the highest jumping reaches that we have ever seen. 😁. And now Pluto got a sister! Little Winnie has now joined the family and we are so excited to continue to watch these two Timber Whippets be loved on and cared for by their wonderful family!

We took advantage of mild afternoon temps and went out to play! The pups have now developed their whippet running style - although they still have their toddler clumsiness. 😁. This is the point where I want to change my mind and keep them all! Well...almost. These pups have such wonderful families waiting for them and I know it is time to let them go to their forever families!

Here is one of the two year old birthday girls from the Reindeer litter! She was "V***n" when she was with her litter and as a two year old she just looks so wonderful! She is enjoying the typical Whippet relaxation pose as she is feeling so very loved by her wonderful forever family!

This brrry 🥶 cold Sunday morning means indoor playtime. At 6 1/2 weeks Winnie, Eeyore, and Tigger can now rough and tumble and hold their own with each other and are so fun to watch and play with. For breakfast they ate the last of their partially ground puppy food. Lunch will be whole puppy kibble as they are all chewing and swallowing very well and ready for the bigger pieces! We love watching these Timber Whippet pups wagging their tails and growing fast!

It's important to us that all our Timber Whippet pups are exposed to children before they go to their forever homes. Pups get handled and played with (under adult supervision of course). Many of our owners have children and grandchildren and we want our pups to be the best family members as possible when they go to their new homes!

These pups just turned four weeks old and we have loved watching them grow. They are snuggled daily and already well socialized and love people evidenced by the cutest little wagging tales. 😀 They enjoyed their first outdoor play time today and loved the crunching leaves. (We wait until eyes and ears are fully open and until they develop good spatial awareness after that so they will eill feel secure and enjoy interacting with the world!) They will start weaning tomorrow which we start generally right around four weeks. These are Maverick and Savannah (full AKC championship bloodline) pups and many of our owners will recognize similar colorings from their own pups! The honor and responsibility we feel in being a part of their lives is so very special to us! Meet Eeyore, Tigger, ane Winnie (because a puppy named Pooh might not be the best choice 😁).

We love seeing our babies that live both near and far from us. Seeing not only how much they are loved, but also seeing how much they are in love with their forever families warms our hearts. A couple weeks ago "Denali" from our National Parks Litter, along with her mother, stopped by for a visit when they were in town. When we first connected with Denali's family we knew they had a full understanding of dog ownership as well as the unique traits of our breed and that we would love to have them as a part of our Timber Whippet family. Every family is specially chosen and many have waited for a year. Denali has grown from being cute to being elegant and beautiful. Thank you for letting us see how wonderful she is doing and thank you for the commitment you show in raising and loving a whippet!

Today is a personal post, and it isn't even about our beloved whippets. So please forgive our divergence, but I couldn't let our loss go without paying tribute to our beloved Aussie, Jake. Many of you met him over the years when you came to get your Timber Whippet. Jake has been one of our family members since Christmas of 2005. He was a Christmas morning surprise for our kids (only a good idea in the right circumstances :)) and was a loyal, faithful dog and family member for almost 16 1/2 years. The last several months were not easy for Jake, but he continued to love being loved by our family and we continued doing so until he breathed his last. The price of loving a dog is that sometimes we have to say goodbye and our hearts break. It's been a couple weeks now and while we still feel his loss and miss his presence, we are so thankful and feel so blessed that we got to love Jake for so many wonderful years.

Another winter storm moving in tonight. Bravo needed a good walk and run this afternoon before the temps drop back to single digits again. Savannah enjoyed a walk and a run, too, but she stood back after he went full throttle, watching him patiently like a Mama hoping her son burns off some energy. 😁

Happy Valentine's Day from Timber Whippets! 💗 We took a "winter break"
to focus on family and the meaning of the season, but after receiving this Valentine from "Gunnison" from our National Parks litter we just had to share it with all our other whippet lovers. 😋Gunnison loves spending time with all his friends at his Puppy socials. He wishes all his litter mates a Happy Valentine's Day. 🥰 We are so proud of you, Gunnison. You look like a very happy (and affectionate 😁) beautiful Timber Whippet.

Happy Birthday 🎉 to our very special "reindeer litter" from 2020! Dasher, Dancer, V***n, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen were a beautiful litter and are now one year old!! We'd love to see a pic of each of these special pups if any of their families would like to post or send us an update! We loved watching these pups grow up for their first eight weeks and know they are all living their best lives and wonderfully loved!

Well...life at Timber Whippets has once again returned to "normal". Savannah is once again showing off her trim and lean profile and enjoying life without the constant motherly care and concern of seven little whippet puppies. Maverick and Bravo are once again welcome to come over to visit, take walks and chase the ball now that she doesn't threaten to eat them alive if they so much as look at one of her sweet babies 😁, and we still miss and talk about our "National Parks" Litter...and our "Reindeer" Litter...and our "Disney" Litters...and love love love seeing updates about each and every one. Thank you to the wonderful families that share our love and commitment to these wonderful little Whippet critters. Give them each our love! 💙💗💙💗💙💗💙💗💙💗

Happy Birthday to our 2019 Timber Whippets!! This was a special litter that got to go home just in time for Thanksgiving Day! This pic is of "Dash" which is certainly fitting for his whippet speed. And doesn't he look dashing?? 😁. At two years old these pups now enter into the stage that many whippet owners look forward to when mischievous and high energy puppy days smoothly turn to more calm and settled days...while still loving to run and play. Maverick and Savannah send their love and Happy Birthday wishes...as do all of us at Timber Whippets. 🥰

And so tonight we can finally share that the last pup from our National Parks litter has gone home. Glacier's story was a little different than his litter mates. At six weeks old Glacier, who has the strength and build of his very athletic Dad (Maverick), decided to use his adventurous spirit to stretch beyond his acrobatic limits which resulted in a fractured tibia. Ironically, this happened two days before our long planned family vacation to...of all places...Glacier National Park. Our hearts just could not let us leave our injured pup at home even though our wonderful sitter was there 24/7. So after his excellent vet care from our favorite vet, Glacier went to Glacier on the plane with us and became a forever memory of Family Vacation 2021. After hearing the news, Glacier's planned family said they knew that Glacier (the pup) was still meant just for them and have patiently waited while we ensured Glacier got the best of care under our family's and our veterinarians's watchful eyes, and finally today he was able to join his very loving family. We are so excited for Glacier. The hearts of his family just proved even more that he was right where he is supposed to be. Even though saying goodbye was not easy, we know that Glacier's true adventures have really just begun!

First born Gunnison left on an airplane yesterday with his new family on his first big adventure! And for the exact reason why we would never ship a puppy unaccompanied, they ended up in the Chicago airport overnight due to storms. But we never worried a moment about Gunnison since we know how much he is already loved and was being snuggled and cared for during his overnight experience. 🥰

Our sweet Arctic has gone home with her forever family. She was the 3rd born in the litter arriving at 1:47 pm on July 20. Her new family has been anxiously waiting and ready...and we know she will be so very loved. We miss her already, but know she is right where she should be! 💗

Yesterday was one of our favorite days at Timber Whippets when we have a litter. Our favorite veterinarian came to visit and gave each pup a glowing report of health! Each pup got their first round of vaccinations, a second dewormer, and a full health check. We have loved these little "National Park" whippets: Kenai, Smoky, Gunnison, Arctic, Glacier, Kobuk, and Denali! Their days with us are getting few 🥲 but we love seeing them in the arms of their forever families who are ready to provide them with a lifetime of love. 🥰 We know whether these pups go on to be AKC champions, or are someone's snuggle buddy who waits for them to get off the school bus, or becomes someone's favorite hiking companion (or all of the above!), they are ready to live their best lives after their weeks with our family at Timber Whippets.

We are so proud of this Timber Whippet pup and his owner! Nimbus got his first title this weekend and is just beginning!...

We are so proud of this Timber Whippet pup and his owner! Nimbus got his first title this weekend and is just beginning! He got 2nd place in his first ever BarnHunt event and 1st place in his second! His champion bloodline parents, Maverick and Savannah, are so very proud! We can't wait to see Nimbus continue to excel and love life with all his athletic abilities! Great job to both Nimbus and Maddy!!!

Friday play time with the five week old pups! We offered them lunch a little early so they could have extra play time outside before the heat gets too bad today. They are at the rough and tumble stage and loved the playtime, but weren't too hungry yet! Happy Friday, from Timber Whippets!

Today's lunch and play time outside before going back inside for the afternoon air conditioned nap.

Even whippets can overheat in these near 100 degree temps so outside play after lunch is closely supervised with plenty of water - which sometimes is more fun to step in than to drink. 😁
