ELLIE
There is so much to say about this sweet little girl who was rescued from the streets with her 2 sisters in Bahamas.
She has made huge strides coming out of her shell and showing her bright personality.
She was very fearful of new people, new surroundings and didn’t trust anyone.
In only 2 weeks of being a new Canadian she has learned to trust her foster family, and loves being part of a family with her foster dog sister Lucy and 3 house cats.
Ellie will need a family with another dog who has good energy and patience because her favourite thing is to give them kisses, and I mean a lot of kisses. Another dog makes Ellie feels safer in the home and when outside playing.
Ellie has had trauma in her past that she is overcoming, but one that is still a difficult one is a leash.
She has been practicing with a harness, along with practicing walking with the leash in very short increments. We want her trust that we won’t hurt her, and that the leash is safe so to not traumatize her further we introduce it slowly and for short periods of time so she doesn’t shut down.
Ellie loves her crate, it makes her feel safe when she feels shy or nervous because something new is happening. ( new person in the house, or she’s unsure of loud gatherings) her crate is important to her because feeling safe helps her learn to trust that she will never be in danger again.
Ellie needs a family with experience and patience, the love she shows you in return is so worth it all!!
Ellie has never shown aggression towards people or animals in her foster home, she is just very shy and unsure of this new way of life for her.
This sweet girl is so smart and incredibly gentle with many manners.
We can’t wait for Ellie to find her forever home that she deserves
