Just a reminder we are a dog friendly pub but we do have a couple of rules that we ask you to follow:

🐶Dogs must be on the lead at all times
🐶Dogs must not climb on or bite furniture
🐶You must clean up after your dogs

Dog water bowls are available and there is an outside tap which you can use to fill them up, please remember not everyone loves dogs so bare that in mind when coming into the pub with your furry friend.

Thanks

The K9 first aid course raised £350 for Joey's legacy rescue and rehoming.
Joey's is a small rescue that only survives thanks to the Amazing volunteers giving their time to dogs in need. It wouldn't be able to help as many dogs as they do without the donations.

🐶❌‼️BLUE-GREEN ALGAE WARNING‼️❌🐶
Important notice from Friends of Anderton and Marbury:
Blue-Green Algae.

We are sorry to say that Blue-Green algae is present in Budworth Mere - again (it seems to have appeared a bit earlier this year..)

Please do NOT enter the Mere or permit your pets to enter or drink the water.

The Algae is TOXIC and will cause skin conditions, stomach upsets or more serious health problems.

We have attached an excellent information sheet from 'Nose To Tail' regarding the impact BG Algae may have on dogs.
If you are a dog owner, please read it carefully - it may be useful

Warning signs will be posted at various locations ASAP.

The most important thing is to make sure people & pets stay out of the Mere.

Please pass this info on .. especially to dog owners.

When we are informed the Mere is safe again, we will let people know.

Thank you for your understanding.

❗If you're worried about a dog in a car call 999.

Leaving a dog in a car can still be dangerous, even if parked in the shade with windows open. Temperatures inside can reach an intolerable 47 degrees, when outside it is 22 degrees. For more info visit the RSPCA's website. 🐕 🐶 🐩

As we are all looking forward to the warmer weather, we need to be aware of the impact the rise in temperature has on our pets.
On several occasions we at Justice for Reggie have found dogs locked in cars, sometimes with a window partly down.
This not only leads to possible death of the pet due to overheating but also leaving the window open leads to the opportunity for your pet to be stolen.
If you are going shopping in the car 🐕LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME🐕

With the warmer weather ahead, owners should be mindful of the signs of heatstroke. 🌡️ Heatstroke is a serious illness that develops when a dog gets too hot and is unable to lower its temperature. Left untreated, heatstroke can lead to seizures, organ failure and even death.

Any dog can develop heatstroke, but overweight, young, elderly, flat-faced, giant-breed, and thick-coated dogs are particularly at risk, even from just sitting out in hot weather.

Some of the most common triggers for heatstroke include:
🥵 Overheating during exercise - accounts for 74% of cases
☀️ Being outside in hot weather (even just sitting still) - accounts for 12.9% of cases
🚘♨️ Being trapped in a hot car - accounts for 5.2% of cases

See advice from our vets on what you can do to help prevent or provide first aid for heatstroke: http://pdsa.me/hpSh

🧊 Please note that ice cubes are perfectly safe for dogs to use as a treat to cool down on a hot day. It is when a dog is suffering from heatstroke that the drastic change in temperature from the ice can cause shock, and therefore should be avoided. A dog’s normal body temperature is around 38.6°C (101.5°F).

Paloma came to us with her kittens, who have now found homes, and now it is Paloma's turn to find one!

Paloma is a bit of a diva, who can scratch - therefore she would best suit a cat-savvy human friend who will give her time to settle in at her own pace, and not over-fuss her.

Paloma will also need a a child free home. If you have the quiet, patient home she deserves, please send us a private message on here.

Shaken vet reveals:
This is what pets do minutes before they fall asleep

Every pet owner has to deal with the idea that the beloved member of the family will most likely die before you. If you grew up with dogs or cats, you probably had to say goodbye several times.

This farewell doesn't get any easier with time. Most pet owners find it particularly bad to have to put their animal friends down.

Watching your four-legged friend die can make you sick. Nevertheless, pet owners should be strong in these moments - for the sake of animals.

Unfortunately not all master and wifey have the courage and strength to stay with their animals until their last breath. They're not there to make the transition easier and prefer to leave the vet work all by themselves.

Now a vet who wants to remain anonymous has decided to share his thoughts about this decision with the public.

The vet's message:
′′ As a pet owner, it's usually inevitable for your pet to die in front of you. So if you need to take your pet to the vet to bring them a worthy pain free end, I want y'all to know something.

You were THEIR TOTAL LIFE LONG at the heart of their world!!! Of your own life, they may have been just a small part, but to them you, their family, were all they knew. It's a crappy decision / day / time every time, it can't be denied, and it's upsetting for us humans to lose it. But please, I beg you, DON ' T LEAVE HER ALONE!

Don't let them commit the transition from life to death in a room full of strangers, in a place they can't stand. What most of y'all don't know is they LOOKING FOR YOU IF YOU LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!

They search every face in the room for their loved ones. They don't understand why you left them behind when they were sick, scared, old or taken away by cancer and they needed your comfort.

Don't be a coward because you think it's just too hard for YOU. Imagine how they feel when you leave them in their most sensitive time. People like me are every time trying to comfort them, ease their anxiety and try to explain to them why you just couldn't stay.

From a tired vet with a broken heart."
