Staffed 100% through the efforts and donations of volunteers, we find homes for animals that other shelters and people have given up on. Through the kindness of various boarding kennels and foster families, rescued animals are cared for until they find that final family to love them. Rescue Ridge began by rescuing healthy, beautiful, animals that were slated to be euthanized through no fault of th

eir own. We felt it was unfair, that because their 'humans' had no more use for them, their days were numbered. We have tried to give each and every one of these companions a new lease on life. We rescued dogs, cats, horses and any other animal that we were able to help with our limited resources. And since we have limited space, we are always searching for those willing to help foster these wonderful creatures. We are always happy to provide information on options available to anyone needing to re-home their pet for whatever reason. It is our belief that education regarding pet ownership and its responsibilities is the best hope these companions have. Meet Peanut, a sweet mixed-breed boy. He is just shy of 3 years old and weighs 44 pounds. Peanut lived in a home his whole life, and now, due to no fault of his own, finds himself living in a kennel, hoping for a new family to love. Peanut is a sweet, loving, and friendly boy. He loves to play and go for walks. He really enjoys getting attention and affection from our volunteers, and is most comfortable when he is hanging in our meet room- the closest thing to a home we can offer him right now. Peanut is used to living in a home, is housebroken, and seems to be pretty well-mannered. He is a good boy and would be a great addition to an active family that will give him some exercise and lots of love. Peanut is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Moxie and Sparky are adorable 3-month-old sisters with big personalities and endless energy! These two are always on the move—chasing toys, wrestling with each other, and turning anything into a game. They’re playful, curious, and love being part of the action.

Despite their high energy, Moxie and Sparky are also sweet and friendly, happily accepting attention when playtime winds down. They share a strong sister bond and do best together, keeping each other entertained and confident.

Meet Dante, a smart and affectionate Husky/Shepherd mix. At only 1 1/2 years old and about 50 pounds, Dante is still a baby with lots of potential! Dante was initially purchased as a puppy by a family that had neither the time nor the space for him. He spent far too much of his young life in a crate. Dante has plenty of energy and the boredom of kennel life is taking a toll on him. Dante needs an experienced owner who will keep him active and engaged. He knows a lot of commands and loves to work for treats, but will test his boundaries so he needs an owner that will take the leadership role. We are confident that in a home with a yard and a dog-savvy owner, Dante will be a loyal, and loving companion. Dante may not have had the best start in life, but he has his whole life ahead of him- let’s get this boy out of the kennel and into the kind of home he needs and deserves. These three beautiful 4-month-old tabby sisters have stunning markings that are accentuated by lovely golden highlights. They are gentle when interacting with their care takers and love cuddles! Mango & Clementine enjoy racing up and down the cat tower and getting a good stretch once the race is over! Mango has a liking to sit on top of a shoulder like a parrot. They are truly entertaining!
We are confident they will bring immense joy to their new home. Come meet the girls at the PetSmart in West Long Branch!

This handsome Shepherd mix is Chaz! He’s 1 year old, and about 80lbs, and what a sweetheart! Chaz is a very well mannered boy, with such a gentle nature. He loves to be near his people and isn’t shy about giving kisses. He knows lots of commands and is housebroken too! Chaz spent a week in foster so we could get to know him better. His foster mom says he was an amazing, well behaved house guest. He loves to play ball and would surely enjoy a fenced in yard. Perseus and Minerva… two black beauties. As soon as you pick them up, they snuggle into you and start purring. They were fostered in a loving home where they ran around chasing each other and then jumped on foster mom’s lap for extra lap time. These two are sure to make your home happier! Sophie wishes all of you who celebrate a very Merry Christmas. She wants to remind you that she is one of our longest residents and is hoping that you will open your heart and home to her. Please apply to adopt Sophie at Rescueridge.com Sophie is best in the home as your only pet, but she has been on multiple pack walks with other dogs. Professionally trained on leash in all basic obedience and her trainer has generously offered a few lessons to her adopter at no charge! Sophie is housebroken and crate-trained too! She is five years old, has a lovely temperament, and loves people. She is best in a home with older kids, so she doesn't knock the little ones down. Great in the car and has no toy, treat, or food issues. What more could you possibly want in a loving and loyal companion who can play for about 20 minutes and then settle down nicely with you for some snuggle time? She was sadly surrendered with her companion Hoth due to no fault of their own when their elderly owner could no longer care for them. Each day she grows more curious, more confident, and more willing to trust. With time, soft voices, and gentle affection, Hoth will reward his person with deep loyalty and quiet companionship. He would do best in a peaceful home where he can continue to build confidence at his own pace.
