SAVED BY POSH PETS RESCUE. Please honor your pledges or consider makimg a donation to the rescue that saved Cosmo via this link. https://poshpetsrescueny.org/donate/

GREAT WITH EVERYONE HE MEETS, only 2 years old and now meeting his end, Cosmo has been given the euth command!

LOOSE AND WIGGLY, SMILEY AND SOFT, finding himself at the pound after his owner passed away, Cosmo made the best out of a bad situation by being himself, open, social and friendly. Please don’t let this good boy die !

A volunteer writes....

Cosmo has had a difficult few weeks. His guardian died, and Cosmo was left tied up in the hallway outside the apartment. We can only imagine how confused he was, to suffer an enormous loss coupled with hastily being left in a hall with no way to find help. Thankfully a neighbor found him the next morning and brought him to us.

Some things we know about Cosmo: he is just 2 years old and a pocket sized 41 lbs. Someone taught him a few tricks, because when we ask him to sit he does, but then lays down, and then pops right back up to get his reward. The most adorable sequence of events.

In his dog test at the shelter he was loose and offered a bounce and playbow, and got frustrated when he couldn’t meet the other dog face to face.

We also know that Cosmo is struggling and in just 2 weeks at the shelter is slated to go at risk tonight. To help Cosmo please share his post. He’s available for direct adoption at Queens ACC. Cosmo is 2 years old, 41 pounds and his ID is #205732 .

Cosmo is just a little brown dog, he looks like a typical ordinary dog. But we see in him something special, he wears his innocence as an armor, he maintains his good humor through all the unfortunate things that had happened to him. He is a sweet boy, whose only mission in life is to love. Please don’t let this little brown dog die. 💔😔

GONE BUT FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

§weet 14 month old Yoshi, loving and social with everyone he meets, has been given the euth command !

Urgently needs a good home by August 20, 2024

14 month old Yoshi found himself in a difficult situation when his owner made the tough decision to surrender him to the local animal shelter. However, this young pup's story is one of resilience and promise. By all accounts, Yoshi is a wonderfully social and outgoing companion, described as great with people and even having a friendly rapport with feline friends. During the shelter's assessment, Yoshi demonstrated his leash-walking skills and basic obedience training, readily responding to commands like "sit," "go," and "stay." At his assessment, Yoshi showed his affectionate and curious nature - his tail wagged excitedly as he approached the handlers, and he eagerly allowed them to interact with him, even mouthing and rubbing up against them in a clear display of comfort and trust. This friendly, well-adjusted pup is surely longing for a second chance at finding his forever home, where he can continue to thrive and shower his new family with the same warmth and companionship he so readily offers. With his outgoing personality and solid training foundation, Yoshi is poised to make an incredible addition to any household lucky enough to welcome him in. Please hurry, this gem of a puppy has been time stamped, and his life is at risk ! If you cannot foster, or adopt nor pledge, you know what to click.

Hi! My name is Yoshi! Check out my video below to see how I like to have fun! My former is quoted as saying that I am "sweet, playful, and like to have fun!" My former owner surrendered me because of her other dog and I having an altercation that resulted in both of us biting and drawing blood. I have high anxiety and touch sensitivity. I am sensitive and shy, can you please help me feel safe by welcoming me into your home?

*** ADOPTED ***

We have to wonder what kind of life poor BOSS had before arriving at the shelter. He was limping due to osteoarthritis and apparently his former parent did nothing to address his pain, and his left ear was badly deformed due to a hematoma. His owner simply called the police and said they better come pick up his dog because Boss’ behavior was changing (after 9 years). We are beginning to wonder if he had abused Boss just before the police arrived and that was why Boss was growling at everyone. The parent probably didn’t want to admit it to police when they arrived at the door. Or maybe Boss’ parent made it all up just to get rid of his dog. Either way, Boss is waiting at the shelter for a new family, standing at the front of his kennel and wagging his tail at anyone who goes by, hoping for some kind words or a treat….a totally different dog. He loves pets, he loves to lean into your legs for a good cuddle, and has been a good, sweet guest. Look at his poor face and the way he hangs his head, almost in defeat. We want Boss to have a new life, a better life than he has had so far, a loving and experienced retirement home where he will know the kind of care and happiness that appears to have eluded him. If you can take him in, MESSAGE OUR PAGE for assistance.

What my friends at ACC say about me:
I can go home today!
My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet.
It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.
I’ll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life.
I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

INTAKE BEHAVIOR:
Date of intake: 26-Jun-2024
Summary: ESU reports baring teeth, growling.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Date of initial: 27-Jun-2024
Summary: Wagging tail and seeking attention and treats.

ENERGY LEVEL:
We have no history on Boss so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Level 4

Recommendations:
No children (under 13)

Recommendations comments:
No children (under 13): Due to Boss's reported defensive aggression from the previous owner, we recommend he goes to an adult-only home.

Potential challenges:
Fearful/potential for defensive aggression

Potential challenges comments:
Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Boss has been reported to be aggressive with his owner, but the owner did not go into detail on what happened. ESU did report baring teeth and growling when being removed from the home. They had little information about what happened. All he knows was that the dog was baring teeth and growling at ESU and the responding officers. They managed to leash Boss and shove him into a crate before bringing him back to the precinct .We recommend a slow approach and we recommend ONLY force-free, reward-based training methods for Boss. More aversive techniques are likely to increase fear, increase the risk of aggression, and decrease Boss's quality of life. See handout on Decompression Period.

RESERVED BY HAPPY GO LUCKY MASTIFF RESCUE

Outstanding FAMILY PET BILLY, GOOD WITH THE CHILD, THE DOG AND CAT HE LIVED WITH, HAS BEEN GIVEN THE EUTH COMMAND !

Urgently needs a good home by August 15, 2024

Sweet, 7-year-old Billy was tragically abandoned by his family and left at the local animal shelter, a victim of circumstances beyond his control. Before his heartbreaking surrender, Billy had been living in a loving home, surrounded by a child, a dog, and a cat - a full, busy household that he seemed to thrive in. By all accounts, Billy was a delightfully social and affectionate companion, known for his boundless energy and playful spirit. He would spend hours romping around the living room, chasing toys and wrestling with the family pet. But Billy also had a relaxed, couch potato-like side, content to lounge for long stretches, soaking up cuddles and attention from his adoring human family members. One of Billy's favorite activities was getting a nice, warm bath, followed by a relaxing brushing session that left his coat soft and shiny. Sadly, due to reasons unknown, Billy's family made the difficult decision to surrender him to the shelter, leaving this sweet, well-adjusted pup searching for a new forever home that can provide him with the love, stability, and companionship he so clearly craves. With his outgoing personality and eagerness to please, it's clear that Billy would make an incredible addition to any family lucky enough to welcome him in.

Oozing with sweetness, Pop is a WYSIWYG ( what you see is what you get) doggie. Each of his pic shows how social, how sweet, how loving he is. Adopted for 30 days, returned because his adopter’s living situation has changed. Almost all returned dogs will be on the dreaded list sooner than later. His owner says he actively hides from strangers — this is because he isn’t decompressed enough yet with his new human, and his new home. 30 days isn’t enough, but he did well. At the ACC, he shows his real self, friendly, active, playful. As he did in his first assessment, he did great in his second. Pop is like a cuddly teddy bear, one that needs a thorough decompression. Set your new dog up for success, help him along the way, because that’s what a responsible owner does. It’s not only feeding them, we must take care of their needs, guiding the to be the best version of themselves. Pop is a great pup, but still a little rough around the edges, he needs guidance. Please give him a chance to be what he can be, he is a loving, sweet boy, who will appreciate and be grateful for being given the chance to live, to love and be loved.

A volunteer writes, "Everyone is talking about Pop. His pictures are so ridiculously cute and he's just a few years old! When we meet him though, he is nonstop fun. His tail is just absolutely wiggling all over the place, and his butt shakes so much he almost hits himself in the face with it. Pop is excited to meet us and prefers pets and snuggles to any toys at the moment. On a dreary day, he is happy to be out and about and is our temporary ray of sunshine. He has a sweet sweet face and is so soft and snuggly. He just melts his whole body into each of us to get in enough snuggles for us all. In his little tshirt, Pop looks like a total heartbreaker. He is reported to be friendly and playful with strangers, children, and other dogs. His favorite activities are playing (obvi) and going for walks. He prefers to sleep on the couch to his bed. He is a very energetic young boy who would do best in a home ready to keep the good times rolling. "

‼️URGENT‼️ Please share puppy, BRUNO! He’s a good boy and needs a loving home! Not to die in this deadly shelter!! 🙏🙏

PLACED WITH RESCUE

10 month old BRUNO has been given the euth command !

Coming from a breeder, ONE WEEK WITH THE IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS, DUMPED AT THE ACC because their parents said no more dogs ! They already have 3. Instead of bringing this puppy back to the breeder, they chose the easiest way out, throw the puppy out !

Bruno is a good puppy, he got along with everyone he met, including the 3 resident dogs. The owners said Bruno is social and affectionate, good with strangers, and kids ( he lived with a child in his owner’s home for a week), and did great with their dogs. Bruno also knows basic commands and will gladly execute them.

At his intake, he was LOOSE AND FRIENDLY, but he freaked out when they tried to put the muzzle on him. This broke Bruno’s trust in them, and he has not relaxed enough to start trusting them again. When he is presented with a leash, he would hide at the back of his kennel.

This is a puppy who has lost trust in humans, after being passed on from one place to another in a short amount of time. From being a confident, happy puppy, he has become fearful and distrustful. People who don’t think about consequences and DO NOT PLAN AHEAD, should not own pets.

Thing is, animals are more resilient and sometimes, more intelligent than humans in some ways. Bruno will feel safe and be trusting again when he is in a home, with loving and experienced people who will give him time to process his situation. He had an adverse reaction to the muzzle. 💔 and he needs time to recover from it. Unfortunately the ACC isn’t going to give him time.

Please help this puppy boy whose life is just starting and he has had a rough start. People just don’t think that animals are thoughtful and feeling creatures. They get scared, just like us. Bruno has great owner surrender notes, he loves people, and he even did good with the owner’s visitors. Please don’t let them waste his life away. Please help Bruno ! Get him seen!

URGENT! Please share BEAR! Save him before his life is over!

URGENT! Please share BEAR! Save him before his life is over!

Friendly, social, good natured handsome Bear has been given the euth command! Please help him find a new home. His life has been time stamped, given only a few hours to live !

We find this photo of Bear deeply touching and moving, as his eyes are very expressive in all his photos. This one in particular, he looks like he’s trying his best to look hopeful but the sadness in his eyes are palpable. Are we imagining things ? Here at Must Love Dogs, we have more than 10 years of looking at dogs’ photos, decades of owning dogs, we can almost feel what the dogs are feeling at that moment.

Bear knows he has been abandoned by his people. He is anxious and fearful of the future, they all are. From having the security of a home, no matter how imperfect, the “love” of their people, to the traumatic abandonment of being left alone tied to a tree, it is one steep slope of how things turned out for Bear, with him not knowing where he’s going to end up. The shelter is a temporary place, with a short limited time. He has to find a home in that time, if he doesn’t, he ends up here right now, staring at his end.

Bear’s video shows him to be a handsome, healthy dog, walks well on the leash, loves to be petted. He absolutely loves his stuffie. Even if he has his beloved stuffie in his mouth, he allows to be petted. He didn’t like the fact that a strange dog came too near his face when he had his toy in his mouth, most dogs won’t, especially it’s a strange dog. He was a bit upset, he didn’t like being disrespected that way, but after a while, Bear was his usual affable self.

A volunteer writes: Bear is one of the first new dogs we meet at the new shelter. A beautiful brindle boy who loves toys. We take him on a stroll on our new neighborhood, stopping at graffitied walls to take his photos. We are grateful for his good nature and support as we learn about our new space and all the best places to make our pups shine. Seated on a ledge we offer him a toy that he is just so delighted to have. He doesn’t part with it for more than a few seconds, propping himself off and wagging while showing it to me. It’s a hot, hot day and Bear seems to know self care is important no matter where you are. He flops over on the sidewalk, toy in paws, hips and legs kicked out. Bear was found tied to a tree and freed by police who brought him in loose in their car and reported him to be friendly. While initially he did well at the shelter, he quickly deteriorated and in just 10 days is at risk. He is available through a rescue only. Please share Bear for a home. His ID is #205778 and he’s at Queens ACC.

Please help this smart, expressive handsome boy. He knows he has lost everything near and dear to him, abandoned by the very people he loved and trusted. Yet he has been good with people at the ACC and tested well with the helper dog. Please help Bear find his miracle on his 11th hour.

Mega is a handsome boy whose affectionate, quiet and a couch potato. He is also social and tolerates cats. His favorite toys are the ones that make noise. He also knows commands like sit, say, paw and lay down. Won't you make this smart boy a part of your family?
A volunteer writes: Who's my best boy? Mega's my best boy and he could be yours too! Give him a chance to show off his uniquely endearing combination of playful energy and sweet snuggles and you'll adore him as much as I do. Mega weighs under 70 pounds but his personality is larger than life and like a puppy he loves to run and play and be close to his people. He jumps up because he wants to cuddle and once you make a 'shelf' with your arm he's happy to rest his front paws and soak up a nice face and body massage. If stand-up hugs are too forward, he also does a wonderful 'leg lean', resting his whole side against your shins for maximum petting coverage. Mega shares toys nicely but he's been known to eat them so only rubberized/plastic or long-lasting bones for this eager beaver! He needs some training on leash but is a quick learner and we've made great progress on his potty skills already. I can't say enough good things about Mega and in a committed home where he'll get all the guidance, exercise and affection he craves, this handsome hunk is gonna be a star!

Shadow has been placed with Pound Hounds ResQ

His owner joyfully stated their favorite thing about Shadow was “He’s very playful and vocal when happy. We “awoo” together.”

Well, there is no “awoo’ing” now, we can tell you that much. What we can share is that SHADOW’s first parent gave him away via Craig’s List. What is wrong with people? At the time, Shadow was 2 years old. He must have been so confused as he rode away from his family to a new home in a car with a perfect stranger, looking out the rear window as they walked back into their house. And now his latest parent just dumped him at the Staten Island center saying their reason for getting rid of him is he is “too big.” Really? We see two undeserving families who didn’t give a hoot about this boy’s feelings, or how he must feel being bounced around like a ping pong ball. You see, Shadow is a gentle spirit. He is unassuming, kind, quiet, loving, and good. And yes, he likes to “Awoo” when he is happy! He deserves so much better and we really want everyone to help find him a perfect family – one that will cherish him and never leave him again. Just to show how great he is, in his latest home he lived with a newborn, a young infant, and a toddler and was tolerant of all of them. He is tolerant of dogs he meets on leash. He knows the cues: sit, stay, paw and lay down. Nothing really bothers him, he just goes with the flow. So please, if you are an experienced family with older kids (Age 13 and over) who can take this boy in by fostering or adopting him, please hurry and MESSAGE OUR PAGE for assistance. Shadow is waiting to smile and be happy again…..he is waiting to joyfully “Awoo” with YOU!
