🐾💕 Baxter was an injured Chihuahua we took into the rescue in Oct. 2022. Janie volunteered to foster him, and Dr. Becker at Hope Animal Hospital fixed him up with great vet care. In Nov. 2022, Baxter found his forever home and is now living the good life with Brooke Reid, who is a massage therapist at The Healing Place in Seabrook, Texas, He goes to work with Mom every day. Yesterday, Janie went to The Healing Place for a massage, and guess who laid at her feet during her massage - Baxter! He is like a therapy dog and immediately recognized her when she walked in the door, ran to her, and gave her all kinds of puppy kisses. Pawsitively melts our hearts. 💕🐾

🥶❄️ NOTICE - DOG, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE! ❄️🥶
With the weather forecast starting Sunday night for the temperatures to drop near or below freezing we wanted to go over a few things with everyone. We have been fielding questions concerning the animals here in the City of Angleton. Therefore, we wanted to share some information. The most ask question seems to be “Can an animal be left outside”. While we believe every animal needs to be brought inside our City Ordinance as well as The Texas Health and Safety Code requires that animals be provided “Adequate Shelter”. What does this mean? The definition is as follows:
(1) "Adequate shelter" means a sturdy structure:
(A) that provides the dog protection from inclement weather; and
(B) with dimensions that allow the dog while in the shelter to stand erect, sit, turn around, and lie down in a normal position.

If you leave your animal out in the weather without adequate shelter you can be charged with animal cruelty or by city ordinance failure to provide basic care. Citations can be issued by an Animal Control Officer or a Peace Officer for failing to adhere to the City Ordinances of Angleton or the Texas Health and Safety Code. So please bring your four-legged family member in out of the weather for their safety. If it is too cold for you to be outside or have to sleep outside it is too cold for them!

ADEQUATE SHELTER
Shelter should meet ALL of these conditions:
• Space is suitable for EACH animal appropriate for the species, age, condition, size and type of animal.
• Has adequate bedding: bedding of sufficient quantity and quality to permit a domestic animal to remain dry, and reasonably clean, and able to maintain a normal body temperature.
• Is safe and PROTECTS EACH animal from injury, rain, sleet, snow, hail AND direct sunlight.
• Protects from adverse effects of heat or cold AND physical suffering.
• Animals must be able to sit, stand, turn around, lie down, and have all normal body movements.
• Protects from impairment of health.
• Is properly lighted AND properly cleaned.
• Enables each animal to be clean and dry (except when detrimental to the species)
• For dogs and cats, provides a solid surface resting platform, pad, floor mat, or similar device that is large enough for the animal to lie in a normal manner.
• Can be contained in a sanitary manner.

Our prayers are with K-9 Rocky & his handler as he continues to recover from being shot. He saved lives yesterday after the devastating loss of Deputy Vargas. Please keep our community in your thoughts 💔

K-9 Rocky continues to recover after being shot yesterday in southwest Houston. Rocky was shot by the man who investigators say killed Brazoria Co. Deputy Jesus Vargas. The K-9 officer was shot when he found the suspect in a dumpster.

Rocky's handler stayed overnight at the hospital and hasn't left his side.

Sometimes rescue isn’t all happy endings. The kitten we took as an emergency on Friday passed away this afternoon. He held on through the weekend, but could never elevate his body temperature even while in incubation; his little body was just too weak. We are grateful for the team at Wild Peach Veterinary Clinic for trying to save him and we take comfort in knowing he didn’t have to die cold and alone on the streets 🌈 🐾

Adoption Alert 🔔

Jewels showed up on the property of an employee of one of our partner vets. One quick social media post by the vet clinic and 💥 she was adopted. The Finks went to meet her at the clinic and fell in love. Jewels is living the spoiled life now with her new parents 💎 🐾 💕

🆘 The ACO at West Columbia Animal Shelter contacted us about this tiny kitten that she picked up this afternoon. It was cold and barely breathing. Of course - we said yes. It doesn’t have a name yet as it is too matted and messy for the doctors to even tell and they are more concerned with getting it stable.

The kitten is now with our vets at Wild Peach Veterinary Clinic receiving emergency care which includes fluids, bloodwork and incubation (the kitten’s temperature was too low to even get a reading). They are holding the kitten at minimum through the weekend to get it stabilized and try to figure out what is going on. Our bill for the weekend will be well over $1000. Please help us continue to fund this kittens veterinary expenses.

Supporting our rescue means supporting the old ones, the sick ones, the abandoned ones, the young ones, the hard ones, the scared ones….the ones.

Bear aka Carebear is one of those forever rescue dogs. He was already old and arthritic when he entered rescue. A 100lb senior dog with hip issues isn’t exactly a highly desirable dog by societal standards. His fosters didn’t care and for 2 years he’s been living his best life in his foster home. Your support means supporting dogs like Bear, who regardless of how they enter rescue, they’ll get the care and life he deserves whether he is adopted or not. Thank you for allowing us to continue to say yes to The Ones 💙 🐾 🐶

Bumpy’s original owner loved her, but joined the military to serve our country. Her original plan for her dogs, fell through and the family of one of her friends stepped up in a major way to keep her out of a shelter.

Bumpy will make a great companion for the right person.

Meet Peanut! This sweet boy was found as a tiny 5-week-old kitten stuck in a tree. He bravely ran down to his rescuer, ready for a new chapter. After being fostered in Texas, he made his way to Seattle with . Quickly after arriving, he found the perfect family. A huge thank you to the Christiansons for giving Peanut his forever home! 🐾💙
