We specialize in smoke pearl, sable, and otter Mini Rex, but we frequently produce wonderful blues, brokens, black, and white (REW). Check the page for what's currently ready to go. Bud's Bunnies is known for competitive buns! We have pets as well, especially in the spring.

Broken black proven herd buck born 12/28/2020

We have three broken black herd bucks, and one (or two?) has to find another barn! This guy is super friendly and will come to you for affection, but he's also very efficient at his job. Carries dilute (blue).

The bucks are litter mates. All three were born just before Thanksgiving.

One of Kandy's kits accidentally got out of the nest box yesterday, and mama Kandy stayed close until help came. Baby turns two weeks tomorrow.

GC-eligible Bud's Winter (BOV Blue at 2021 ARBA Convention) was a bit late to the party, but she welcomed this itty bitty broken blue to the bunny barn annex this afternoon. (She also had a peanut and a very large kit, both DOA.) Winter will be helping out Lady by fostering two of her kits. Sire is GC-pending Scotcha RMS03 Beau.

No more babies are expected for two weeks.

Polish doe, Lady, joined the party in the annex late last night with two brokens, two blacks, and a broken black peanut. Did you know a peanut is not just a runt? It suffers from fatal dwarfism. Some pass within hours, some last several days. We've had one last two months.

Fingers crossed for the four "normals" in this litter. Mama Lady is struggling a bit with motherhood. Four of five babies were born on the wire. She only built a nest after she kindled. She attempted to nurse them, though, as evidenced by two kits ended up back on the wire this morning.

We are excited to watch our newest Mini Rex grow. The next does are due next weekend. We're expecting two more Mini Rex and one Polish to kick off 2023.

Mimi added five to our Mini Rex numbers with four lightly-patterned brokens and a black otter. Sire is Bud's Max.

Sunshine was hard at work overnight. She hadn't even started nesting at 12:30am, but we woke to a warm nest with five babies. These are 2 whites (REW) and 3 smoke pearls. Sire is Bud's Titan.

Clementine gets the baby bunny party started with 3 blacks and 3 sables. Sire is Bloom's Orion.

With temps expected to drop below zero, with wildchill bringing them to -40 or even -50, we created an annex to the bunny barn. Four Mini Rex are due in the next two days. Bud's Clementine is taking her nesting duties very seriously and has started to prepare to bring babies into this frozen world. This litter should produce sables and blacks. We haven't seen any evidence that Clem carries dilute. If she does, we'll see smoke pearls and blues, too. Either way, we're happy to have babies on the way!

Our good friend is looking for a pet home for this adorable chunk of Mini Rex sweetness! He's an October baby available in Lincoln, NE, and we can put you in contact with his people if you'd like to bring him home.

Smoke Pearl buck born 6/5/2022
Sun is a pretty little buck with good type and nice shading. His fur is a little soft and a bit blotchy as he finishes a molt, and he peaks a little early, but overall, he's quite a handsome guy.

We wish Victoria Jackson luck on her showmanship presentation tomorrow! She went through the first round with her Polish, and the callback requires she use another breed, so Bud's Winter Frost will be helping her out. Here, Victoria practices with a very patient Frost.

Bud's Fire & Ice is enjoying a few cuddles before his trip to Reno for the biggest show of his life. We love this little guy and can't wait to see how he does at Convention and how he produces at his new home in Iowa after the show.

Some of these animals will be entered at Convention. That is noted in their info. If they are not entered, in most cases, they are available now.

Transport to Reno for a small charge, unless noted otherwise.

We accept PayPal or Venmo for 50% down, with balance due prior to the bun catching a ride anywhere. (For Reno, balance due by October 15th, to allow time for transporter to prepare.) Friends and family option, or add 3.5%. Please ask me to confirm amount due if you choose that option.

We have a Holland in the barn! This one is just a foster. Her mom wasn't able to take care of her, and our smoke pearl mama, Shadows, is happy to mother any baby in need. 🥰 I think she's doing a great job!

We have babies! Just a couple of litters are weaned, but most of our winter babies are still with their moms. Hopefully, we have some nice buns heading to Nationals this spring!

We had a shockingly disappointing show yesterday. We missed a few classes, so we had to wait for results to be listed. This literally brought me to tears.

That's Bud's Winter as BOV!
Brother, Bud's Arctic, was BOSV.
This was their first show, and they did us proud. Winter is moving to her beloved late great-grandpa's house after the show. Arctic is ditching the cold and heading down to Texas.

Our Story

We specialize in shaded Mini Rex and produced the Mini Rex Nationals BOV smoke pearl in 2014, 2015, and 2016. The 2017 ARBA Convention BOV smoke pearl and sable were produced in our barn as well, and we also have beautiful blues, brokens, himi’s, blacks, otters, and REWs.

Bud’s Bunnies is also proud to have produced the 2015 Polish Nationals Youth Best of Breed animal, as well as the Youth Best of Breed from that year’s Convention. We specialize in blues and blacks, and brokens in those varieties. 4-H discounts, package deals, and repeat buyer savings available. Prices range from $30 to $100 or more, depending on the animal.
