Save Mornington Pound Pets

This page is dedicated to achieving better outcomes for pets at Mornington Peninsula Community Animal Shelter. We are not affiliated with the council or the pound and are volunteers who love animals and want to see a reduction in the kill rates at this pound. We expect most unclaimed pets to be listed for adoption and advertised in a variety of media (eg local newspapers, shire fb page). All impounded pets should be listed on the Shire’s Lost Pets site, and residents looking for lost pets must be allowed to view these pets in person (not on a computer screen) to increase pet reunifications. Volunteers need to be reintroduced at the shelter to provide enrichment, socialisation and love to these precious pets. We believe a foster care program in the community should be implemented, as well as subsidised desexing/microchipping of pets for financially disadvantaged residents. Many of these initiatives are happening at other pounds, so could easily be introduced at Mornington.
