Musings of the Day,

A young male mallard naps in the mimosa. His speckled browns seem meant to be among the greens and purple flowers. Asleep, bill tucked under wing, in the shade of our young potted crepe myrtle tree. I see his wink, when he checks on me through the window. A glance of familiar. A soft glint of trust.

Cornel will be there until eleven o'clock. That's when Casandra shows up for lunch with him. A female mated mallard is not quiet. She announces her arrival with a series of h***y quacks. Fair warning to Cornel. You had your time. Not in the mood. I'm here for lunch and nothing more.

He glances through the window as she announces her arrival and terms. I shrug and tip my head in slight sympathy. Late spring is not early spring and not a damn thing can be done about that Cornel.

Part 2 of my step-by-step how to articles is published. I've gone into the wading pool of art theory and 'the way of the artist' on this one. Art is personal. It has to be.
