Halfway through our 2024 Spruce Meadows tour and our trajectory is right on track 🚀

Each member of the Team Grey and Team Bay show team has produced clear rounds in their respective divisions with exciting additional highlights including a return to the 5* level for Dominka van de Lucashoeve, an enthusiastic return to sport for the one and only Balintore, and solid, executed rounds turned in for Balstakko during his first visit to this competitive venue. 🤎

A much welcomed week of rest is on the horizon before we return for another fortnight in the Wild West. 🤠

Can’t get any closer to our first WEF Challenge Cup win than that! 💚
That goal remains in play but I’m incredibly pleased with Kirlo who took second (and by a lot less than that) in the $62,500 3* Adequan WEF Qualifier on the derby field at Wellington International.

The most lovely Chacco’s Clou PS (Chacco Blue x Carthago) has had a super European tour and has developed so much in such a short period of time producing clear rounds in some of her first international 1.40m classes. 🤎 This week in Vilamoura, Portugal, she jumped with just a pair of time faults in the 2* GP Qualifier.

Not too long ago, sat us down and explained that Team Canada is like a cake 🍰 (Cakes have layers!)

Every layer makes the cake stronger and sturdier, taller and more solid. Ingredients come together and make something bigger (and more delicious) than they can be separately. Riding as part of a cake (… er, team) isn’t about pressure; it’s about support. No matter what happens, you have this amazing, uplifting support squad behind you who have got your back if you falter and in times of triumph, your glory becomes theirs also. You get to experience something greater than yourself - the ups and downs - and must answer to something beyond yourself and your horse.

To be fair, this Team Canada cake is pretty damn sweet ♥️ Truly grateful for this upcoming week and another chance to ride alongside some fabulous Canadian team mates.

Go ponies go. Let’s go Canada! 🇨🇦

They say the humble brag on social media gets you nowhere so instead I’m going to be openly and overtly loud and proud of my dynamite mare, Chacca Keeps 🧨

With one week remaining in our European tour, this fantastic mare has so far placed in all but one of her classes and jumped faultlessly in 5 of her 6 starts.

Yesterday, Keeps wrapped up her first week in Vilamoura with her second clear of the week with a top ten finish in the 1.45m LR Speed. We are looking forward to representing Canada next week in the CSIO3* 🇨🇦

Clear and a neat 8th place finish for Kirlo van den Bosrand in the 5* $76,000 1.50m Speed @ Wesley Clover Parks. High fives also extended to Chacca Keeps II for their own clear round in the $38,500 2* Grand Prix Qualifier 💪🏼

Nothing is more important to us as our horses’ wellbeing but sometimes doing the right thing, well… really sucks. 😒

With wildfire activity and winds bringing smokey conditions and extreme air health advisories to Calgary, we made the decision today to withdraw Keeps from the Grand Prix. As disappointing as it is to miss out on such an opportunity, given her recent light schedule, we have decided instead to change our plans and aim her at next week’s competitions 💪🏼 Hope that legendary Spruce International Ring is ready for us. Chacca Fressssssh. 😎😎

WEF 2023 is a wrap and it has been one to remember. Three cheers for my marvellous horses and my phenomenal team who worked together to make this happen.
We produced a lot of clear rounds, went pretty damn fast in jump offs and rebooted some pretty special partnerships. Summer 2023, you’re up.

Also jumping clear but saving herself for the 1.45m qualifier tomorrow was KS Coradina in her first FEI appearance in 2 years! It is beyond marvellous to have this top mare back in international competition 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Chacco’s Clou PS had a beautiful round today in the $10,000 1.35m Classic marred only by a single time penalty (my suspicion is airtime). Honourable week 10 mentions also for Chicago 195 who did his very first 1.45m with some really exceptional jumps and Chacca Keeps II who finished in the money in both her classes 🙌🏼

Three cheers for my amazing mare. 🖤 After spending more days on a plane, lorry or boat than under saddle the last fortnight, we met the opening round of the Nations Cup with a bit more baggage than just first time jitters. However disappointed not to have the first round result that we came for, I cannot properly express the immense affection I have for Dominka for digging deep and finding the determination to come back and try again. A thousand thank yous to @jrdn.eq and @fredo_bodywork for their furious and swift work between rounds to help Dominka feel her best possible self. I am so happy that we managed to produce the clear for Canada that I knew was in there.
