UPDATE: We found the dog, no need to report additional sightings. He/she is traversing a quarter-mile stretch of Lindley Road, back and forth between the freeway ramp and some farming/residential property. We have a warm shelter and a feeding/water station set up (with permission) on private property, in hopes that he/she will settle down there and spend less time on the move. Please watch your speed when driving in the area and do not attempt to approach the dog. This one’s going to require some patience.

We’ve received several reports of a small border collie running terrified, not letting anyone close. Once reported at Lindley Rd/Richland Hwy, and later reported on the side of the highway near the Loves exit. We have a volunteer ready to respond if/when she gets real-time info on the dog’s location (searching for it has been unsuccessful thus far). URGENT FOSTER NEEDED!
This sweet older girl has gone unclaimed at the city impound for two weeks!! She would desperately love to be moved into foster care while we look for an adoptive home. Please call or text us at 541-519-7387.
Because of her breed and the fact that we’ve not observed her in any home setting, we need foster care with no cats and no small children, please.

UPDATE: A ride has been found!

Someone found a Great Horned Owl injured in Halfway last night. A wildlife rehab has agreed to take it, but it needs transportation from Baker City to Pendleton. If you can help, please call Kerri ASAP: 541-490-7810.

UPDATE: We have two pending offers, thanks everyone!!

This sweet little girl, who was rescued from the snow on Thursday, needs a new, cat-free foster home ASAP. The issue appears to be intense curiosity, not true aggression, but we’d rather not take any chances. She may be easily trainable with a single large & assertive cat, but the current foster home has four, including a kitten. She has to be moved and we have nowhere to move her.

This handsome boy is STILL adoptable!!! UPDATE: Adopted! Urgent need! Due to serious illness in his family, this little cutie needs a new home (or foster care) immediately. According to the owner he’s great with all other animals, potty trained, leash trained, etc. Not yet neutered, but we will have it done soon. Please call (541) 519-7387.

A follow up on this guy, since a number of people were concerned about him. He’s out of impound and VERY happy to be in foster care. Many thanks to a brand new foster volunteer for making it possible!

Peeking in at mama Lavender

Mama Sparky is workin’ round the clock!!

Please let our brave firefighters know just how much you appreciate them saving animals in distress. They brought us a young calico mama, whom they rescued and named Sparky (another calico mama, not Lavender from our recent posts). Her babies were reported to have all died, but firefighters were able to save Sparky, who was understandably distressed. They brought her to us and she was placed with a foster volunteer who was bottle feeding half of the orphaned newborns that were also rescued from the fire. Sparky was disoriented but relieved, immediately bonding with foster mom and seeking affectionate comfort. While the foster began gently suggesting the fragile newborns to their potential surrogate mom, the firefighters called with a PLOT TWIST! Three of Sparky’s own babies had been found, and were rushed into town to be reunited with their mama. As they settled in together, foster mom sensed the right timing to directly introduce the four needy newborns into the love fest. AND IT WORKED. Mama Sparky now has seven babies: Coal, Halligan, Skidgen, Ash, Ember, Blaze, and Smokey. One big, happy family. All will be adoptable soon. From the bottom of our hearts, thank-you to foster mom Tessa, for the time and intuition she devoted to this heartwarming outcome, and to the fire heroes who believed these lives were worth saving.

Update: Foster care found! 🥰 ***FOSTER (or adopter) NEEDED*** Marie’s owner passed away in May and she’s been living in upheaval since. She’s approximately ten years old, very sweet, but timid. She’s great with cats and other dogs. Fully vaccinated. Foster care (or new home) needs to begin Monday. She needs someone gentle to help her feel secure and recover from her confusing loss.
