Our Story

Weathervane Kennel is an AKC registered Labrador Retriever stud service and breeder in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. We specialize in health tested Labs for family pets and hunting companions. We typically have four litters born each year and also provide on premises breeding services as well as offer Artificial Insemination Stud Service thru a local reproductive veterinarian. We currently have three females and offer two studs. Our black stud is a 4 year old beautiful solid black AKC English Labrador Retriever. He has a large block head, shiny coat, and muscular build. He is a proven stud with eight litters. His heritage includes two Master Hunters and one Junior Hunter. Sire was chocolate, dam was black and he is an EEBb genotype which is black but a brown carrier. Cooper Lee VIII is 96 pounds, an avid swimmer and retriever. He is in perfect health and has his hip and elbow OFA certification. His DNA profile is negative for all 8 common Labrador health conditions as well as 156 other canine medical conditions. Stud fee is $600 for black.

Our charcoal stud is a stunning 2 year old solid charcoal AKC American Labrador Retriever. He has a slimmer, more athletic build; slightly taller with a longer tail. He is a proved stud with four litters. Sire was charcoal, dam was silver. Asher Grey is 92 pounds and is also in perfect health. His DNA profile is negative for all 8 common Labrador health conditions as well as 156 other canine medical conditions. He just turned 2 years old so we will begin his OFA certification process. Stud fee is $1000 for charcoal. General Guidelines To Breeding: It is important to make sure the female is confined while in season, so that she doesn't mate with a dog you haven't chosen for her. The ninth or tenth day of heat is widely understood to be the best time to begin to breed. To maximize the possibility of conception, you should allow your dogs to mate a couple times between the seventh and fourteenth days of the heat cycle. Contact us when you first notice your female has gone into heat so that we can schedule stud service. We only service one female at a time so that we can provide one on one attention to the breeding process. We are located in the Piedmont Triad area of NC.
