We have had several inquiries lately as to when we start up our monthly bottle drives. Attached is our schedule with drives beginning in May. Save up, spread the word. During our drives we will also be collecting food and cash donations and if you have gently used athletic shoes we will take those too (no street shoes please).

If you are unable to make a drive but need to unload we can coordinate a pickup or meet up if you are in South Lyon, Brighton or surrounding communities.

Hudson and Millie are at Pet Supplies Plus in South Lyon. These nearly 8 month old cuties have been with us since late October and must be adopted together.

Hudson is a hoot. He is very curious and although a little shy around new people at first, once he trusts you he lets you know by rubbing up against you. He is super playful who loves other cats. He does think every cat is his buddy so a younger playful cat should be ok. He snuggles with his foster mom during the night.

Millie, shy but very sweet gal. She enjoys playing with Hudson but takes some time to warm up to new people. She can be held and carried and.also loves other cats and is respectful of them. She sleeps at the foot of the bed with her foster parents at night.

A quiet low activity home with no young kids and no dogs is best. Please fill out an application if interested in these sweet youngsters by clicking on the link below.

We see a lot of lost vet posts so would like to share some advice shared in the past.

Many cats go missing and it's heartbreaking when we realize our feline friends have disappeared. Posts are seen daily on social media of lost cats and there are conflicting tips of advice. There are many reasons cats can go missing, including indoor only cats. Curiosity, sick, unaltered.

Indoor only cats can end up in unusual spots indoors so if you aren't positive they got outside look everywhere inside. Check closets, under, in and behind everything. Pull out appliances, check dresser drawers, dig through the closet, check the mattress. If you believe or know they got outside, indoor only cats that are altered rarely wander far and usually very close by. They are territorial animals and most likely scared and go into hiding. The best thing to do for an indoor cat that gets outside is to actively search. Check bushes, under decks/porches, inside garages/sheds, under cars, up trees, and neighbors properties. Best times to look are dusk and dawn.

Contrary to many people commenting to putting the litter box outside, that is no longer recommended. Cats know where their home is. The smell of urine draws predators and unaltered community cats.

Post on social media (Facebook community pages, NextDoor, For The Love of Louie), with pictures and area they were lost, put up fliers in the neighborhood, contact local vets and shelters in case they are found and turned in.
Ways to have a better chance at reuniting with your cat:

Get them fixed.
Get them microchipped
Actively look for them
Post on social media
Put up fliers

Habanaro and Poblano are at Petco in Brighton. Almost 5 months young, these 2 cuties are sweet young nuggets but will need a little time to adapt to a new environment. Read up on them below and if a good fit for your family, please click on link below and fill out an application.

They need to be adopted to a home with another kitty if not with each other.

POBLANO (male, black & white): Outgoing once he gets to know ypu. He is friendly and snuggly, likes to headbutt people and rub against legs and all over his human. Poblano is very playful, LOVES HIS STRING TOY, chasing balls, and enjoys chasIng and wrestling with his sister Habanaro. Poblano is very food motivated so churus is a great way to his heart. He gets along with other cats but needs a playful buddy if not adopted with his sister. Poblano gets the zoomies often and runs circles around his foster room. He can be a little shy at first but comes around quickly.

HABANERO (female, dilute torti): Very sweet and absolutely loves other kitties (obsessed to the adult cats in the foster home, follows them around and tries to snuggle). She runs around and wrestles with her brother Poblano. Going to a home with another kitty that will be a friend is required if not adopted with her brother . She idoesn't like loud noises or sudden movements. She enjoys back and chin scratches, loves string toys and her toy snake. Her personality is coming out more every day as she comes out of her shell.

A low activity quiet home is best for this duo. No dogs or young children. They are fixed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and fiv/fekv tested negative.

It's that time of year, spring cleaning. Do you have household items and clothing you want to unload? Donatestuff.com is a great opportunity to not only get rid of stuff easily but for every pickup arranged, Furry Friends Rescue receives a small donation, it's a tax deduction, helps others in need, and helps reduce waste and preserve the planet. Note, donations are not by the pound but by the number of pick-ups so multiple pickups are ok if you can't purge everything at once.

You bag up stuff you no longer need, go to donatestuff.com, enter your zip code, choose Furry Friends Rescue (look for our logo) than coordinate a date for pick up.

See flier and website for more information, share with friends and family as they service most of the Detroit metropolitan area. As far west as Brighton, east side, downriver, and as far south as Ann Arbor.

We are taking applications on Tanker, Trooper & Scout. Some of you may remember Trooper (formerly Casper) who put up a good fight back in early February hospitalized for 4 ½ days. He is our miracle kitty and doing fantastic and ready for his purrmanent home along with his 2 litter mates. Please read their write up below and if interested, please fill out an application by clicking on the link below.

These outgoing recruits came to Furry Friends Rescue from a surrender situation. All three kittens are extremely social, playful, and love being around their foster family. Their sweet dispositions and stunning good looks will make them a fine addition to your home. The kittens need to be adopted with a sibling or to a home with another young cat who will play with them. Maybe consider all 3. None of the kittens have been around dogs, so a meet-n-greet will be needed. When the kittens are in play mode, they like to nibble, so a home with older children will be best.

TANKER (male – light orange) This curious boy is the most outgoing of the group. Tanker loves to romp and wrestle and never seems to run out of energy. Some of his favorite things include wand toys, little mice, and fuzzy blankets. He is the first to greet you when you walk in the door and seeks affection from his foster family.

TROOPER (male – gray tabby/white): This little guy had a rough start with his first few days hospitalized at the emergency vet. With some TLC and medical assistance, he turned the corner quickly and became a “typical” kitten. He was a “trooper” through it all, hence his name. He likes to wrestle and play like a normal kitten. You would never know he was once the runt of the group. He loves to climb the cat tower and play with anything you put in front of him. He is always the first in line for breakfast/dinner.

SCOUT (female – dilute tortie): This little lady is the cuddle bug of the group. She knows how to “scout” out a good lap to lay in and practice her purring. She likes to play with anything that moves or that her brothers are playing with. Some of her favorite things are fuzzy mice, p**f balls, ping pong balls, or anything else she can chase.

They are all spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and FIV/FELV negative.

UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING

Bebe is still at Petco in Brighton. This young gal is pretty lonely at the store so would love to bust out of jail asap.

We did have plans to pair her up with another kitten so she wouldn't be alone. However the other kitten had multiple apps and was adopted right before Bebe went to the store.
Bebe came to us as an only child and was pretty scared. Once she met another cat in the home she perked up enjoying their company and even more so playing with the other cat.

Bebe loves to play and will benefit from being teamed up with another young playful kitty. When she isn't playing she likes to nap in sunny spots by a window and also is a cuddler with her human.

She has mostly been hiding at the store so people don't always see how cute she is. When volunteers show up she perks up and seeks pets, dipping her head into their hand for pets. Wiggle a toy and her natural kitten hunting instincts come out whacking at the toy.

Let's end her loneliness and get her out of there. She is cute, friendly, snuggly, and fun!

Loves cats, dogs unknown and will require a meet and greet, no young kids as she does get excited when playing and may nibble. Bebe is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and fiv/felv negative.

Hudson (orange male) and Millie (torti female) are still awaiting their furever home. We have had them since late October with no interest. They are 7 1/2 months young but look younger. Hudson is a petite lean machine and Millie is a pretty young girl.

Both enjoy play time and the company of other cats. No dogs or young children as sudden noises and movements can be too much for them, particularly Millie.

Hudson is super curious about everything. As soon as somebody stops by to visit he runs to check them out. He may run from strangers at first but will keep a watchful eye and once he trusts you he rubs up against his people. He is very affectionate once he gets to know his person. He loves cats but he thinks everyone is a young playmate like himself and will engage. Other cats in the home will need to know Hudson will try to be their playmate. Hudson is an active boy that fires up the purr motor and snuggles with his foster family during the night.

Millie is more reserved than Hudson and will need more time to acclimate, but still enjoys playing and wrestling with Hudson being the young gal that she is. She likes snuggling with one of the adult cats in the home when not playing. She enjoys chin scratches, being brushed, and shows her appreciation by purring. She sleeps at the foot of the bed of her foster parents during the night.

It'd be awesome to find them a home before the influx of young kittens. They are still very young so plenty of life left and youngster entertainment.

They must be adopted together. If interested in this super cute pair, please click on the link below and fill out an application.
