GIVING TUESDAY IS HERE.

Please consider making a donation. We have depleted our emergency and non-routine medical funds this year. With over $14,000 in emergency vet bills plus surgeries, specialist visits, xrays, bloodwork, and ongoing medical care we are now critically low. Thanks to your donations, we were able to help every cat who needed us this year, but if we don't build our funds back up we will not be able to afford an emergency visit, surgeries or take on known medical cases.

Pictured are just a few of our pricey medical cases this year from emergencies, surgical procedures, or extensive medical care that added up over time with bloodwork, xrays, tests, and medications. Without the medical care many would not be around today.

Meet the Ball Litter!
All of the boys except Cheeseball will be at our adoption event Saturday & Sunday, December 6th–7th at Petco in Brighton. Cheeseball isn’t quite manly enough to be neutered yet, but he’ll be ready soon—we are accepting applications for him now.

These four handsome brothers are extremely friendly, outgoing, talkative, and playful. They love wrestling and chasing each other and will do best being adopted with a littermate or into a home with another young, playful kitty who enjoys energetic buddies.

Please note: Same-day adoption is not guaranteed without an approved application submitted before the event. We will accept applications during the event, but early submission is strongly recommended.

Butterball – Male – Long-Haired Gray & White
Super soft fur, makes biscuits, purr machine. Loves all toys, but tiny balls and springs are his absolute favorites. Pounces on his brothers.

Meatball – Male – Long-Haired Black & White
A climber who loves cat towers and bird-watching. Soaks up human attention. Favorite toys are anything that hangs from doors or ceilings.

Gumball – Male – Short-Haired Black
High-energy and the instigator of the group. Loves all toys—especially wand toys and his toy ferret.

Cheeseball – Male – Long-Haired Black & White
Very affectionate, social, great with kids. Loves sleeping next to (or on) his people—the closer to your face, the better. Gets the zoomies.

The Water Litter are hanging out at Petco in Brighton. This terrific trio get very excited when they realize people are watching them. They are very entertaining whether they are at the glass (as seen with Fiji) asking to get out or zipping around playing. When not active they are usually all curled up with each other.

Super friendly, cute as buttons, high energy, and snuggly with their human, they are fabulous 4 month old Energizer bunnies.

We are stressing the importance that Aquafina be adopted with a litter mate. Of the 3 she is the most needy when alone and going with a litter mate will make her happy. Fiji matches her energy but Evian is more needy than Fiji. If not all 3 (how we would love all 3 to go together), whoever gets left without a litter mate must be adopted with another young feline that loves to play. Fiji is a tad more independent and is most likely to adapt to another kitty but she is also the highest energy. No exceptions on this criteria.

All 3 joined their foster mom during the night. When active they need a variety of toys and a cat tower is a must. They are super fast little torpedoes that love to run so no young children or people not steady on their feet as they are trip hazards. Their social and snuggly interactions make up for their adventurous energy.

They are very hard to get pictures of at the store because they want nothing more than to be in a spacious home to get their zoomies and snuggles in. Evian starts rolling around showing his belly. Fiji is always at the glass begging to get out. Aquafina wants tlc.

They would love to be a part of the holidays with a family. Good with cats, dogs unknown so meet-n-greet required, no young children.

We took Rockingham out of Pet Supplies Plus in South Lyon for Thanksgiving and have decided to give him a break. This studly fun almost 7 month old boy has been in the store 7 weeks. Too darn long. We haven't changed our criteria for him. He needs a YOUNG playful feline friend. He plays hard and enjoys the company of other playful kitties. We'll see how he does in the foster home where there are 3 other young boys he can romp around with.

We hope the purrfect family comes along so we don't have to put him back in the store where he had gotten bored. This boy deserves to be running around, a feline playmate, and more attention from people.

No young children as he does get nibbly. We believe he may be ok with dogs but we may require a meet-n-greet.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Furry Friends Rescue. We hope everyone enjoys their day with family and friends. We are thankful to all of our fosters, volunteers, vet staff, store staff where we show our cats, adopters, donors, supporters at our fund raisers, and followers.

What a great way to kick off the holiday weekend. 2 year old Cherry who we have had since April was adopted tonight. It's always exciting to see long timers and adults get adopted.

Do you plan to put up lights over Thanksgiving Holiday? If you come across some bad lights, don't throw them away. Furry Friends Rescue is having their 3rd annual holiday lights recycling drive. See flier for 3 locations where you can drop off during their business hours. We now also have a box at Four Seasons Veterinary Services in Brighton as well. Share on your subdivision page, Nextdoor and tell friends and family. We get money by the pound when we recycle the lights with 100% going to the animals in our care.

Our resilient girl, Patches, who came to us after being hit by a car, had a few apps on her as soon as she became available. Tonight she is off to her new home and she will have another feline buddy.

The holiday season has begun and we would love to see our cats and kittens in homes in time to settle in for Christmas and New Year. We know many people will be looking to add a furry friend ...or 2 for Christmas. Don't wait, now is the time to adopt so your new family member(s) can be acclimated to enjoy the holiday with you. Now is the time to adopt as there will be more people looking to adopt later in December so more people to go up against. We will not hold any animals for a future adoption date.

Things to keep in mind when looking to adopt:

1. Read the write ups on the animals instead of just going by a cute picture. It's important to ensure pets are the right fit for the home.

2. Consider the long term commitment pets are, 15 to 20 years for cats. Take into consideration how long they will live...we are seeing numerous surrender requests these past couple of years. It's incredibly hard to find placement for adult cats and more so as they get older. It's also hard on the animal to be uprooted.

3. We do NOT gift animals. Pets should never be a surprise or gift. All members of the household should be on board. If you have children, the adults in the home should be prepared to be responsible for the pets for life. Kids may lose interest as their lives change frequently, and eventually may move out of the house for college or head out on their own.

4. Do not get rid of your current pet to bring in a new pet. Yes, sadly this happens. People get rid of cats because they bring in a dog and the cat suddenly has behavioral issues. People get rid of their pets because they get a puppy or kitten and the older pets aren't happy. Pets should be for life, not disposable. In saying this take into consideration if bringing in a puppy or kitten is going to be ok for your older pet. Very different energy levels, stamina, and personalities with big age gaps or simply not used to other pets in the home.

5. If you rent, live in communities such as condos or mobile home parks, learn the pet policies. There are often security deposits, monthly fees and pet limits. We have seen the consequences of getting caught and the animal loses.

We hope to see our cats and kittens in homes soon, and have some long timers. But...we also want them in the right home.

The water litter are at Petco in Brighton. All 3 are in the lower habitat and hope not there too long.

This terrific trio are the whole package. Super friendly, outgoing, cuddly, affectionate, high energy who will play with just about anything, and of course cute as you can see. A spacious home will suit them well.

Just 4 months young they are ready for their palace where they can utilize their road runner skills (they are fast and athletic), get loads of attention and interaction from their humans with plenty of toys to keep them occupied. A tower is a must, and they love bopping in and out of a pop up cube.

They often hang out in whatever room their foster mom is in and sleep in bed with her during the night. They can be snuggly, curling up with their human when they have settled down.

Aquafina requires to be adopted with a litter mate as she is the neediest of attention, and has a lot of energy who doesn't like to be alone. Fiji is the most energetic and also more likeky to engage the adult cats. Evian (the only boy) is silly and animated rolling around, but settles down first after playing. Our feelings wouldn't be hurt if a family were to consider adopting all 3 (it's happened 4 times this year). If one is left behind, a very playful/young feline buddy is required. We'd be happy to suggest another within the rescue.

They haven't met dogs so a meet-n-greet will be required. No young children as they are trip hazards with how they zip around the home like race car drivers.

Stop by and see them (if any are hiding just start talking and they will likely come out). They got there yesterday so still adapting but when people are there they love it!
