Brilliant Rowan earned his AKC Trick Dog Novice title! Did you know if you have the AKC Canine Good Citizen title, you only need to perform 5 tricks as opposed to ten for your novice title?

We paired up with another small business to create acorn and pinecone scent work hides, custom made for North Star Canine, you won't find these anywhere else. These hides are able to be hung for a sneaky suspended hide, or use them as a natural ground hide! Strategically placed holes allow for enough odor to release from any position.
This is the first of many big things we will be adding to our website in 2025!

A little late to the party with this one, but there's still time!
Registration is OPEN for January and February classes. Try a new sport with your dog in the new year. There is room left in tricks where you can earn your first trick title, discover your dog's superpowers in Intro to Nose Work, or up your Obedience game in a laid back environment with Intro to Rally.

Handsome Zeus is showing so much improvement from one lesson to the next!
Dog training doesn't have to be complicated and difficult to follow through with. I ask my clients to practice just 5 minutes a day, most of the time that's all we need to see great results.

Meet Charlotte, a Rottweiler puppy! Rottweilers are loving, loyal, and confident guardians. They have been used throughout history for jobs such as herding, guarding, police canines, and search and rescue. Rottie's are dynamic working dogs and love having a job to do.

Student Spotlight 💡
2 student dogs and both my personal dogs participated in this past weekends trial at the Long Island Golden Retriever Club trial.

Cedar had her very first day out after only learning odor in late September! She earned 6 Q's and 4 placements! Way to go 🎉

Finn is climbing through the classes very quickly, he got 3 Q's finishing up his buried advanced title, over all Advanced title, earned his first 2 Q's in Excellent Exterior, and placed in each qualifying run.

Trout earned 5 Q's, finished his Exterior Advanced title, his Novice Container Elite title, and got 1 placement.

Oliver earned 3 Q's, one of which was in a master element! One of the most difficult levels which entails correctly finding all the hides and correctly calling finish when you believe you are done.

🎃 Some safety tips for the holiday tomorrow 🎃

1. Give your pet a safe space - set up a quiet room with a comfy crate, music or white noise, enrichment toys to keep them busy while the worst of the noise is happening.

2. Get your pet accustomed to their costume early - Thinking of dressing up your pet? Use cooperative care techniques to let your pet opt in to putting their costume one. Choose costumes that don't have small parts that can be chewed off or restrict movement.

3. Watch open flames and other decorations - candles and other open flames can pose a risk to your pet and home if not carefully monitored. Keep potentially harmful decorations with small parts out of reach.

4. Keep current ID on your pet - Leave a well fitting collar on your dog with current ID tags in case of runaway. Now is also a great time to check for a microchip and make sure the microchip is actually registered to you with up to date information.

5. Keep candy out of reach - chocolate and other candy poses a severe health risk for your pet. Keep bowls of candy out of reach, and check the yard the next morning for any dropped candy or wrappers before letting your pet out.

Allergen alert training with @freya_wants_your_food In this exercise the outside of the solo cup was coated with strong smelling hand lotions and perfumes, simulating someone who may be wearing skin care products while delivering or cooking food. Strong smelling perfumes may mask the subtle scent of an allergen which could be life threatening to the handler!
