Today marks the start of Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 2024 💚

I’m gonna grab this opportunity to say “ThAnK yOu ThAnK yOu THANK YOU” to each and every dedicated, selfless, hardworking, AMAZING Veterinary Nurse around the World ~ providing THE BEST service, knowledge and care; keeping our pets and wildlife safe and well. YOU ARE APPRECIATED 🙏🏼❤️🩺🧬🌡💉💊🦠🧽🧼🔬🧫

An ‘extra special’ shout out to the vet nurses using the zumi app to help pets in their local communities. You are truly inspirational and leading the way to a different career direction for vet nurses 🫶🫶🫶

This year, the campaign theme is ‘Progression’ – highlighting the profession’s diverse range of skills, abilities and career pathways. Have a problem with your feline friends scratching at your furniture? Scratch posts are great for cats! Having multiple in a house helps to keep your furniture free from scratches, It helps to maintain their claws, they often have toys on them for entertainment and you can get some with comfy beds on too! Cats prefer to sleep high up and off the floor as they feel safer, with a better view of any dangers that may come their way! As seen here, Flurry loves hers!

Spring time is one of my favourite times of the year because the days are lighter and longer and there’s so many colourful flowers that bloom!
Although beautiful, certain plants are toxic to pets if eaten, such as tulips and daffodils including their flower, stem and bulbs! Luckily Luna was more bothered about getting a pretty picture than eating the flowers! 🌼 🌷

SUNDAY! The best thing about Sundays (for me) are Sunday Dinners!

Sunday Dinners may be yummy for us but hold some dangers for our furry friends!

Dangers can include:
🐾 Onions & garlic - are toxic to cats and dogs
🐾 Gravy - most gravy will have onion and/or garlic in the ingredients!
🐾 Bones - small bones such as chicken bones can splinter and cause damage to your pets digestive tract! Any bones if eaten can also cause a blockage which can lead to surgery for your pet!
🐾 Raw meat - Raw feeding can have a place in your pets life when it is done correctly! Feeding your pet some raw meat such as chicken before you cook it can give your pet diseases, such as salmonella, which is also zoonotic so can be passed to people!

Make them their own little Sunday dinner with food that is safe for them such as broccoli, carrot, potato and cooked meat.

Happy Sunday!

Reasons to microchip my cat?

🐈‍⬛ in the event they go missing they can be reunited with their owner

🐈‍⬛ if they get stolen it is easier to reunite them with their owner

🐈‍⬛ if they get injured it is easier to contact their owner

🐈‍⬛ from 20th June it is law

🐈‍⬛ it is not expensive, most vets only charge £15/20 and most have deals on at the minute

If you haven’t already, get your cat booked in for a microchip, June will come around very quickly! 💚

Attention cat owners! 🐱

From 10 June 2024 cats over 20 weeks old must be and registered on a compliant database 📆

By microchipping their cats, owners can increase the likelihood that they will be reunited with their beloved pet in the event that they go missing.
