Through CARE we try to Create a better life for pets and pet owners by raising Awareness about animals in need, getting people to take more Responsibility for their pets, and helping to Educate them before they take on a new animal. Not only are we a rescue that save animals in need, but we also want to try to prevent

more animals from ending up on the streets or in the shelter through knowledge. By educating people on what goes into taking care of pets, the difference in breeds and how one breed can be a better fit for a certain lifestyle than another, and about how many amazing animals are in the shelters, we hope we can start to lower the number of pets that are killed every day. It is important for people to know how many great animals are euthanized each year because of irresponsible people and bad pet owners, not bad pets. By helping to change one person at a time, we can save one animal at a time.

We are still chipping away at Neptune's bill, but we are so happy to report that he is finally feeling better and healing up - you can absolutely see a difference in him. He's been able to be out of his cones some as well!

We have $300 left to raise toward his original bill. If you have $5 to spare we know we can get there!

We haven't even started fundraising for Olive's spay appointment this week and Neptune's follow-up dermatologist appointment this week (both went well, thankfully).

Frank has some very exciting news...
He found his forever home!!🩵

Frank had an almost perfect bill of health from the vet last weekend (yay!) - he is being treated for ear mites and round worms. We are grateful these are both easily treatable.

Frank is at his new home settling in and will get to meet he two older brothers soon! We are just so dang happy for him.😻

We've got another new kitto in the CARE family. Everyone meet Frankie, as in Ol Blue Eyes!

Frankie is approximately 9 weeks old and was discovered by our CARE secretary who relocated back to Iowa. Frankie was crying super loudly in a garage because he was actually trapped behind an old set of golf clubs - he couldn't find his way out! Luckily, he wandered into the right garage and he's safe forever now!

Frankie seems like a healthy, happy dude. He's hilarious. Unfortunately, we didn't locate any other kittens or a mama in the area, but we will continue looking!

First vet appointment is next weekend and he'll get vaccinated, tested, and dewormed. Then we'll be sure to schedule his neuter and microchip appointment too!

🩵We've already spent $150 just on supplies/food/deworming to get Frank settled. If you could spare even $5 we'd be so grateful!🩵

Everyone meet Olive! Olive was found having spent the night in the undercarriage of a car - luckily she was in the car of a wonderful, caring human. The finder's dad took parts of the car apart to get Olive out safely. 😭Isn't that amazing?

The finder contacted us to help and we are excited to say that Olive is already set up with a foster-to-adopt home. We are so hopeful it works out for her!🙏🥰

Your donations mean we can help kittos like Olive! This time of year we are contacted nonstop regarding kittens in need. While we can't help them all (we wish we could) we are grateful to play a tiny part and help some kitties receive the care they need and find their forever.

We are still working on getting Neptune back to 100%, but he is the best and such a trooper as this can be a bit of a process. He's in the best of hands! And sweet Pluto is just as lovely and cute as ever.❤️

🙏Donations Needed for Neptune🙏
Our sweetest guy Neptune had a vet appointment last Saturday because he has been struggling with overgrooming and sores on his paws. He has also had some difficulty with pottying, but that's likely because he's been stuck in a cone. Luckily his urinalysis and bloodwork came back okay! He's on a steroid and antibiotics to help him overcome his current sores (you can see they're healing in one of the photos).

If you look at our previous post, Neptune is said to have a chicken allergy but had been receiving dry food with chicken in it when he was returned to us. We are hopeful that by eliminating this from his diet and his current medication that he can get back to feeling normal again. He has a follow-up appointment on Tuesday to check his progress.

‼️Here's where we need you - his vet visit was $513.95 and we really need help covering the cost.‼️ We vow to be there for our kitties when in need, and we're thankful he was returned back to us. But the costs do add up! We want to make sure Neptune is back to 100% so he can find his true with his sissy Pluto.

Hi everyone!
Our two favorite little aliens, Neptune & Pluto, are being returned to our rescue at no fault of their own. While we are heartbroken, we know they have been well-loved since they were adopted in 2020 as our tiny brother & sister pair. Their current human loves them and is doing right by them.

Neptune & Pluto were discovered in LA in late 2020 by a kind human out in front of their apartment, just steps from a busy street, with no mama in sight. After waiting all day and no mama coming to their rescue, they joined us at CARE.

We are in need of a foster or adopter! These two are now 3 years old and a bonded pair. They are both incredibly sweet, cuddly, people-loving kitties. They will do best in a calm home where they can get a lot of human attention. They will not thrive if you work extremely long hours unless another partner or roommate is also present. They don't like doggos. If you can foster - our rescue provides all supplies and veterinary care necessary. Email [email protected] to learn more.❤️

Neptune (currently called Link) - He is the biggest cuddle bug, the minute you sit down he will be there to snuggle up next to you. He loves to play with his toys, especially his sparkly tinsel balls and plastic spring toys. He loves to play with his sister and cuddle up with her for naps. He is a great eater and will gobble up his meals. Although I have found that he is allergic to chicken and will get itchy paws and will sometimes lick them raw. So he does best without any chicken in his diet. He is a talkative guy and will let you know when it is time to eat. He can be a bit shy with new people or if there is company over but eventually with enough convincing, he will warm up to you.

Pluto (currently called Lily) - She is also such a sweet girl. Although a little more shy than her brother. But she also loves to cuddle and will play with her toys occasionally. She loves to lounge in the sun and take naps. She is very talkative when it is time to eat and like her brother will gobble up her food.

Update on Ellie: While in the hospital she received fluids and anti-nausea medication which helped her keep food down. Ellie's home slowly introduced small amounts of food to her after her hospital stay. The vet had us introduce one of her heart medications back at a time and she has been doing well with that. She also started having bowel movements which is positive so we know she shouldn't have an obstruction.

We love our gal and we appreciate you helping us take care of her! She's just a young little kitty and has gone through so much already.❤️

🚨We need your help!🚨

Our foster kitty Ellie was rushed to the ER because she wasn't eating and was repeatedly vomiting. Ellie is our kitty with a heart condition and requires multiple daily medications - the vomiting meant she couldn't keep her meds down.

The vet took an x-ray and bloodwork yesterday. The bloodwork had elevated white blood cells but there wasn’t anything conclusive on why that would be, and the x-ray showed “stuff” in the intestines but not a blockage necessarily. Ellie was given some medication and fluids and is thankfully feeling better today and keeping some food down. We are keeping a very close eye on her and are hopeful she can stay strong through this!

We need to raise at least $856 to cover the low end of her estimate - check out the estimate on slide 4.

But we need your help to cover his visit with the specialist.🙏 When we bring an animal into our rescue, we are committing to them for the long haul. That's why when Neptune was returned in early 2024 and our foster noticed he had sores on his legs/paws, we needed to step up and make sure he was getting the care he needs and deserves. The visit with the dermatologist went great - they are confident it is in fact an allergy - and we are now in the process of identifying if it is parasitic, food, or environmental. 🚨We need your help!🚨 Our buddy Neptune recently had a very important appointment with a board certified dermatologist and we really need your help to cover this bill totaling $1,263.93. It all adds up so quickly.😥 As a recap, Neptune has had nasty & uncomfortable lesions on his back paws that appeared after he was returned to our rescue at the beginning of the year. We were told by his previous adopter that he was likely allergic to chicken, even though he had been being fed dry food with chicken in it when he was returned. We have made sure to remove chicken from his diet as well as give him steroids and antibiotics to get the sores healed. Unfortunately, they haven't improved over the past few months and Neptune has been stuck in a cone. So, we, along with our regular vet, decided it was time to see a specialist for guidance so we can truly confirm what is going on and get our guy feeling well! We'd really appreciate your help in covering this bill. We vow to provide the care our animals need and promised to get him stable for his fosters/adopters. Neptune is modeling the spring flower look and we can't get enough of that face!🌸 Popping in for a little update - it has taken more than 2 months, but Neptune is almost fully healed from his allergic response. What we are hoping is that once we wean him off his steroid we can then wean him off of the cones and he can go back to being a normal baby boy! His fosters are amazing and will be watching him closely. The rescue is still responsible for monitoring his health and making sure we have him healed and back to normal, but...we have the most amazing news!!! His fosters have decided to adopt Neptune & his sister Pluto! We couldn't be more thrilled-relieved-ecstatic-GRATEFUL.❤️❤️😭
