About us...
Well for starters, as you can see in the photo, pets are encouraged to do what makes them happy and comfortable! Just kidding, sort of! While this moment was just way too cute not to snap a quick picture before scooping that little guy up and redirecting him to the comfort of the couch, we absolutely encourage and welcome every animal to make our home theirs for the duration of their stay..... while keeping in mind that you don’t want your pets back with any new or improved bad habits! From the information that you provide us with, we try to keep your pets as close to what they are used to at home as possible and we try to reinforce or disourage behaviors as you do. We have 3 large dogs and 2 indoor house cats of our own, all very well behaved, so we must be doing something right!
We aim to keep our numbers manageable, because this is after all our home first and foremost. And, let’s face it, if we take on too much it is going to take a toll on our home and our things, and we quite like our home and our things just the way they are! Also, by keeping the numbers manageable, we are able to ensure each pet recieves lots of love, affection, play and attention......and every furbaby is “Nana’s Favorite” for one reason or another! While your furbabies are with us they are a part of our family.
We know that for many, leaving your furbabies with someone new is similar to parents leaving young children with someone new, it can be a little nerve wracking! So we try to keep you up to date, with check in’s here and there, either thru FB, e-mail or text, whatever is best for you. We are not professional photographers by any means, but we do get some pretty darn cure pictures and video’s and we love to share them with you to help put your mind at ease! We encourage clients to absolutely check in with us anytime for an update!
Unless it is what you prefer, because it’s what your pet is used to or needs, we try not to use kennels or crates at any time. We have them but the doors are left open and often dogs go in on their own to curl up and rest. If you trust your pets to be out and about for bedtime and, on rare occassions, for short periods of time if they are left home alone (which is rare as we are very much home bodies!), then we are more than happy to leave them out to have the run of the place! We have, on occasion, had as many as 5 dogs, 3 of them very large dogs ( a Mastiff, a Chocolate Lab and a Great Dane!) and 2 very confident house cats, sleeping on our bed with us through the night. However, if you feel they do best in a kennel or crate and would like us to keep this part of their routine the same, then that is what we’ll do!
While cat boarding is rare, on occasion there is a need. If the need arises for you, we have a great set up for indoor cats here as well. We have lots of dog free, safe, quiet, comfy spaces they can find, either by climbing or by sneaking through one of 3 cat doors to find a nice quiet place to curl up. Outside we have 2 fully secure catio areas as well. The smaller one is accessable to them, thru a cat door in our office window, at all times (weather permitting but it very rarely gets closed). The larger catio is unattached to the house so we take them out and bring them back into the house. In the nice weather months they can spend time each day outside to climb a tree, bath in the sun, enjoy the fresh air, smell the smells and roll around in the clean, soft pebbles.
For the dogs, we welcome large and small/indoors or outdoor dogs...whatever their preference is they will be very happy here! We have a great sized back yard that can be sectioned off into 3 different areas if need be. For shelter the dogs have access to a large insulated dog house full of clean straw in the winter or the “Club House” which is an indoor, fully enclosed patio area off the back of the house. The Club House offers comfy beds to curl up on, heat in the winter as needed and is a nice cool place to rest in the summer. They have access to fresh water inside and out 365 says of the year. We have a good variety of toys here both inside and out and a play structure outside as well. In the summer months we have a swimming pool we can fill for the water loving pups to stay cool and entertained. They come and go inside and out and play and rest as they please!
If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns as to whether of not we will be a good fit for your furbaby, please contact us. If you would like to come by, meet us, our pets and take a look at the set up here, you are more than welcome to do so. In fact, if you are wanting to book for the first time we encourage you to bring your pet for a free consultation and Meet and Greet! It puts your mind at ease and it makes the whole experience of leaving them for the first visit much nicer (for you both)!
For your own piece of mind and, because you want to be the COOL pet parent, send your furbabies to Nana’s while you’re away. They’ll make new fur-friends, get lots of excercise, socialization, play time and love and affection...... they will love you (even more) for it!
Thank you,
Jan (AKA: Nana)
