Our Story
Every year, nearly 10,000 off-the-track thoroughbreds are sent for slaughter or euthanized due to injuries, inability to perform, or simply retired from a successful racing career in Canada & US alone.
For this reason, I am working to promote OTTBs for adult amateur dressage mounts. In a world where imported warmbloods are unattainable for many, OTTBs are a cost effective option for adult amateurs (like me!) vying to compete at provincial and national dressage shows they otherwise could not have. While the financial benefits are plenty, the most rewarding part is creating purpose for a horse that likely would be sent for slaughter or demise if it weren’t for people advocating on their behalf.
OTTBs are well known for their presence in eventing across the nation and I believe with the right eye, many can be made into proven dressage horses as well. My goal is to work with top trainers through lessons, clinics and auditing, and attend national shows to demonstrate just how an adult amateur can guide an OTTB to success within the white fences.
