I have had a few questions asking when I will be taking fittings again and to be honest it is a tricky one to answer, so I will just explain why I am not yet.
When I fit a dog with a new harness, I like to to take it at the dog's own pace as number one priority. It is really important to me that the dog feels comfortable, meaning not separated from their trusted owner to suddenly have something brand new put on by a complete stranger which could be terrifying to some dogs, its a team effort to make this experience suitably comfortable for the dog.
I also want to associate the harness with a positive experience from the first interaction - this is going to be an important piece of equipment which will be used very frequently, its not fair to the dog if it is a stress trigger too. In my fittings I take it nice and slowly ensuring the dog is comfortable, rewarding as we go and then having a play session to assess movement, further ensuring this is a fun time.
I also like to run through how to use the harness effectively, maximising its potential value to you, the owner, and your dog.
To make sure you get the most out of your fitting and don't go home with a new product with a tonne of research and a fear to be undone, I will be waiting to do fittings until further notice.
Thank you for your understanding.
