This young female was found on kilkenny high street last Friday night, narrowly avoiding traffic. She was called down a side street away from traffic and sure she decided to follow her helper the whole way home. She’s currently with a foster. She is very sweet, tame and clean and definitely has a home - does any recognise her ?

Updated: adopted 🥰

Appeal : Morgane is an adorable 1 year old female, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and litter trained that is urgently looking for a foster or forever home.

She was adopted in September 2023. Everything went very well at first as she is loved by her family and the dog but the older cat ( female /14 years old) never accept her presence in any way.

It is now taking the point where the older cat becomes ill because of stress and is so aggressive towards her that we need to find a way to separate them for their both wellbeing.

Morgane is adorable, tiny and so cuddly, she loves dogs and is used to them, she and the golden retriever of the family are best friends.

It’s with a very heavy heart that they need to let her go, but it’s for her best. Morgane needs a new home where she can get the love she deserves.

Please we really need to find a place for her as soon as we can as the health of the older cats is deteriorating quickly !

Updated about the Kilkenny colony:

Last Wednesday I caught two females that we mist on Tuesday trapping.

They both went to the vet thanks to Niamh to be neutered.
While the first one was operated without any problem, they discovered that the second one was heavily pregnant ! They obviously stopped everything and kept an eye on her.( It wasn't visible at all ! She is tiny, skinny and very young )

Erica Dalton Joyce who went to the vet to do a generous donation at first was asked if she could take the future mama cat with her. And she did :)

Yesterday, Pat Doyle helped to get her from Erica Dalton Joyce to her current Foster John Byrne.

Today she delivered her two babies. Unfortunately one passed away but fortunately the other one and herself are doing very well.

What a story and what a team work ! all organised by Denise Candy !well done everyone ⭐

I Went back to the Kilkenny colony to get two more females before they got pregnant.

- Left work at 5:30pm
- Arrived on site with a trap and crate at 6:00pm
- Got the trap ready and our first catch at 6:30pm
- Put back the trap but no luck we can't fool a cat when it sees five of his family get caught.
-7:15pm feed a female on her own. She unfortunately gave birth before we trap her. She needs to go back to her babies so we will have to come back in a few months. But this act put our last little female guard down.
-7:30pm put the trap where we feed the Mama and finally got the last one of the day.
- 8:20pm the cats are now in Graiguenamanagh to go to the vet tomorrow.
- 8:40pm finally home.

Huge group effort with Denise Candy , Sacha Nolan , Niamh whitney and myself in kilkenny city tonight.

One of the most challenging tnr we have done. 1st impossible to find somewhere to park near where we needed to trap so we had to carry all our equipment through lanes and busy streets.

Then the Neighbourhood didn't really respond to help to give us access to their back garden where the colony leaves.

So Sacha went through a tiny window trapping in a tiny space behind a house, passing cages with angry cats back through that small window to Denise. They got 2.

Myself and Niamh followed cats down alley ways and trapped 2 more.

Denise ,Niamh and sacha left carlow at 4.30 and returned just after 9pm.

I brought the cats to Graiguenamanagh where they will be neutered.

Safe to say we are sore and tired. Some of the cats didn't show up today but I will be going back with a trap tomorrow...

So yesterday evening we caught 3 females. They were very scared and careful so it took ages to get them but everything worked out with the fantastic help of Agata and her daughter. ⭐

They got neutered today!

One of them had a bit of milk so may be the mother of the kittens found in the cemetery a few weeks ago ? 🤔 Unless someone else found a litter?

Thank you so much Pat for bringing them to the vet, Agata for the donation and her brother for bringing them back.

Fantastic Teams work 💪

Appeal ! (Sorted)

Hi everyone ! Tomorrow evening I will be trapping another part of the chapel lane colony.

That's why, I am looking for some help for Wednesday morning please ! Is there someone free to bring 2 to 3 cats to the vet from Thomastown to Graiguenamanagh anytime between 9 am to 11 am ? On their way home or to work for example ? :) no need to pay for the vet. Just need a lift. ( The cats will be in cages and we can protect your car too)

The evening trip is already sorted :)

Ps: For those who are wondering why Graiguenamanagh vet and not one closer that could make all this journey efficient and easier, the reason is simple. Unfortunately, even with a gesture on the price, they are still twice more expensive than Graig for their neutering scheme with charity... As you can imagine, it makes a huge difference at the end of the day. I am a volunteer that tries to help to regulate the feral cats population in thomastown only with donations and some of my own money... One of the main problems I am facing is the trip to the vet because it makes me miss hours of work and that is why I will appreciate any help as possible on this part ! Thank you to everyone who already donated and give a hand you are all fantastic 😊

Big day today !

_ I got a call yesterday about a kitten and her mummy staying in a garden. The kitten was caught very quickly and it went directly to Carlow under the best foster care it could ever dream of.His foster name is Bernie! Thank you Niamh !

_ We set up the trap and we got a big tom cat that will be neutered tomorrow hopefully.

_, We got the mum later in the evening. We will also get her neutered.

_In the mean time, two mamas from the belfry, neutered earlier this week, we're released where we caught them as we didn't succeed to re-home them. :/ please be careful when driving they might be a bit disoriented for the evening.

Big thank you to Catherine G, Pat, and Catherine for their help !

Ps : if you see me releasing cats, it means they are from this same colony and are now neutered. ;)

Updated from Denise Candy : A new little thomastown family ! mammy is just a baby herself but thankfully she's with 2 others from her coloni. It seems they are sharing the feeding, they also have their brilliant foster mammy Edel caring for them so we know they will be just fine 🙂

Please if you can donate the price of a box of kitten food on our web page cats trust.ie it will be a great help!

Cat trust is now carers of 44 kittens and their mammies... (6 mothers and 23 kittens just from thomastown !) That's not the whole of our group just what we used to call the carlow team but now as a group we cover much more.

Hello all ! The belfry kittens will be wean around the 10th of June if everyone is feeding ok. The two mammy cats will be neutered then and will be looking for a forever home or will be released in their original colony.

The Black cat is friendlier than she was but not really a pet cat yet.

The black and white one is more friendly but would need time with someone to get proper friendly.

If you have a home and are looking for a new furry friend, please consider them ! with time and love they will become so lovable and grateful. Give them a chance !!

Picture from our Belfry colony's kittens 🥰

You can see the original post of Niamh Whitney on the trust cat page : Socialising kittens from feral m**s is very important. Play time away from mam gives them time inside to learn household noises and to gain confidence with people. I am happy that my new pup Bebek has followed in my last dogs footsteps and takes her role of foster mam very seriously. Safe to say these kittens will be used to dogs and kids. These kittens will be available in about 4 weeks. (The cream one is already booked:)

Thank you so much Niamh for taking such good care of them ! 9 kittens that will never know the difficulty of street life !

We caught two beautiful cats on Tuesday evening.

The black one is a male so he got neutered and is now happily back in his colony.

The little light one is a female and she is halfway through her pregnancy. She will be fostered until her future babies will be ready for adoption.

All gorgeous and very sweet cats in this colony but it is time to stop their expansion :)

Thank you Gillian for your help ! ⭐

Post made by Denise Candy on the Cats Trust - formerly known as Aughrim cat rescue page : Just had to share one of mabels babies screaming his foster mom Bernie Burke's house down for dinner 😆 mabel went down with mastitis 10 days ago she's on antibiotics and bernie has been heroically bottle feeding all of her babies since, if this had happened in the wild where we trapped mabel, these babies would have died of starvation, but thanks to our super hero fosters like bernie they are thriving ❤️

Mama cat number 1 who got 4 kittens and mama cat number 4 who got 5 kittens are doing very well sharing parenting duties with the love and help of their foster mother Niamh ! Babies are growing nicely and are happy 🥰 guess which one is the easiest to recognise?!

The charity "Cat trust" also known as augrhim cat rescue is actually drowning under a tsunami of rescue kittens. If you can support them by a donation please follow this link : https://catstrust.ie/

Hello everyone ! Special message today about the Bridge carpark colony ! First thank you everyone who comes along to feed them, build them shelters and for the food donation! Everything is much appreciated 👍

Now we also need to be respectful to everyone living nearby and there are few rules that I will love people to take into strong consideration :

_ Bring back your cans, plastic containers and any kind of rubbish with you after feeding the cats. We really want to have the place as clean as possible at all times.

_ Keep the plates concentrated in the green box.

_ We will keep only one house box for the cats in this area. The other one will be given to another colony during the week.

To respect everyone, we need to keep this place and surroundings neat.

A cat's colony is a community problem and the answer is a community response where everyone needs to be respectful to each other.

Remember that we come from 15 feral cats reproducing and increasing to 5 neutered and contained. The situation is not ideal but definitely better. ✨

Mabel, is doing great with her 4 babies in the wonderful care of the fabulous foster Bernie.
Mabel can enjoy taking care of her kittens in a safe and warm environment without worrying about food, bad weather or any other bad thing that could happen to her family when vulnerable 🥰they are all growing nicely, we can be so grateful !
Thank you Bernie, Denise and Niamh for all your help and support !

Three Updates :

_We trapped one more black cat this evening and it will be neutered tomorrow. ( Look like a male)

_Our poor teen mama is back in the Belfry after being neutered. She lost 4 kittens at the end. She was too young, too stressed and didn't know what to do... Two died born and two survive for a night but were unfortunately pass away in the morning.
She was in lot of panic so the good thing was to bring her back where she feel safe and at home. No more litter for her.

_Mama number 4 gave birth today ! It is hard to know how many as she decides to make them amongst mama number 1 and her 2 week old kittens. 1 kitten born so far but as you can see it is hard to know what is going on in there. They already started to share the duties!!

❌WARNING UPSETTING CONTENT ❌: don't zoom in if you don't want to.

This is our teen mum caught two weeks ago. She gave birth this morning and had 2 kittens but they are unfortunately both dead.

This is the hardship of feral mammies to young who've had multiple litters that mostly have died because of malnutrition, inbreeding and congenital illnesses, it is tough and it is hard to look at but it's the reality we wake up to some days.

Sorry for our foster mum. It is not easy for her especially after all the incredible work they are doing.

Please neutered your own pet male and female.

Hello Animal lover ! :)

A bit of history about the Thomastown Cats Helper. Even if this page started this month, the first TNR mission was done in 2021 for the bridge car park colony and this is a quick resume of what happened...

One evening, I found two little kittens trying to reach the bins to have some food, as you can imagine I started feeding them with the secret plan to be able to catch them and find them a forever home.

The thing is they were really wild and clever. So I keep feeding them, but then other cats came to joint the club. A full colony.

I get overtaken by events when I realized that some of them where pregnant so I contacted an association call “Aughrim cat rescue and T.N.R” now "Cat trust". They gave me a trap, cages and a plan.

In total we got :
_ 8 males neutered
_ 1 female neutered
_ 2 females pregnant, fostered and then neutered.
_ 8 kittens ( 6 females/ 2 males)

What now ?
The 8 kittens were rehomed, 2 cats unfortunately got killed by cars, 4 adults were rehomed and 5 are still on the site now.

I will make more posts about some of them !
😸

Denise Candy explains that Feral cats often give birth in the litter tray but they move them to their bed in their own time later. It may feel more like the ground they're used to...

Guess who is having his best time now ?

Mary Mcnaughton adopted our beautiful little boy last week after his neuteuring and he looks so happy !

Hendrix is his name and he also have a new best friend as Mary's grandson Evan 🥰.

Thank you so much Mary and Evan for giving him the security and the love he deserves!

Update on the Mama cats !

No other kittens yet but two of them are actually very friendly ! They are under the very good care of Niamh and are now opening up to love and pets 🥰

It may be 6 to 7 weeks before they will be ready but can we dream a bit and see if anyone will be interested in adopting them and give them the retirement they deserved from street life ? Together or separately!
