Updated about the Kilkenny colony:
Last Wednesday I caught two females that we mist on Tuesday trapping.
They both went to the vet thanks to Niamh to be neutered.
While the first one was operated without any problem, they discovered that the second one was heavily pregnant ! They obviously stopped everything and kept an eye on her.( It wasn't visible at all ! She is tiny, skinny and very young )
Erica Dalton Joyce who went to the vet to do a generous donation at first was asked if she could take the future mama cat with her. And she did :)
Yesterday, Pat Doyle helped to get her from Erica Dalton Joyce to her current Foster John Byrne.
Today she delivered her two babies. Unfortunately one passed away but fortunately the other one and herself are doing very well.
What a story and what a team work ! all organised by Denise Candy !well done everyone ⭐
Three Updates :
_We trapped one more black cat this evening and it will be neutered tomorrow. ( Look like a male)
_Our poor teen mama is back in the Belfry after being neutered. She lost 4 kittens at the end. She was too young, too stressed and didn't know what to do... Two died born and two survive for a night but were unfortunately pass away in the morning.
She was in lot of panic so the good thing was to bring her back where she feel safe and at home. No more litter for her.
_Mama number 4 gave birth today ! It is hard to know how many as she decides to make them amongst mama number 1 and her 2 week old kittens. 1 kitten born so far but as you can see it is hard to know what is going on in there. They already started to share the duties!!
Beautiful Mabel gave a nice surprise to her foster mum last night. Or four to be exact !
Denise Candy explains that Feral cats often give birth in the litter tray but they move them to their bed in their own time later. It may feel more like the ground they're used to...
Update on the Mama cats !
No other kittens yet but two of them are actually very friendly ! They are under the very good care of Niamh and are now opening up to love and pets 🥰
It may be 6 to 7 weeks before they will be ready but can we dream a bit and see if anyone will be interested in adopting them and give them the retirement they deserved from street life ? Together or separately!
Belfry comunitty ! Please very important message, do not feed the cats from now on, I will come back this evening to caught more of them. One of the pregant cat caught last wednersday got her kittens this morning . ( 4 to5 hard to say for now) I know they have at least another female to get before her due date !
