If you don’t know they’re story, Sunshine and baby daddy, Magic, we’re living on the streets of Sterling Heights for apparently most of the summer after their owner’s (who sadly passed away) family put them out. Multiple attempts had been made to rescue them before we entered the scene, but those attempts were unsuccessful. Nearly two weeks ago we were contacted by someone who caught them, bathed them “to get rid of fleas,” and told us we had two hours to pick them up or she would let go again. Since we were on strict intake freeze, our board was discussing the best way to help them, but their “rescuer” made good of her word and released them again. Our search efforts the following day turned up nothing, but another day passed and we received an email from a man who said they were in his yard. We organized a rescue team and were able to catch Sunshine, but it took two more days of attempts before we were able to catch Magic. Both buns were riddled with fleas and ear mites and Mama appeared to have recently nursed a litter. Well…today she gave birth to another litter, 10 days after her rescue. We don’t know what happened to her babies from her previous litter 😢, but these babies are safe and will receive the best care! If anyone is able to donate to help with their cost of care, we truly appreciate it! ♥️

One year old Biscotti is spayed, littertrained, super affectionate, and loves people. She does not like to be penned and was surrendered recently for not getting along with the male bunny in the home. She may or may not bond with another bunny but will likely take work and patience. She made it. She’s doing well. And today is her big day. Mama Bear gets spayed today! And even though she’s doing well, I still feel extra nervous considering her past. Her lungs are still slightly inflamed but upper respiratory infection, including pastuerella, have been ruled out. Our vet believes it could be an asthma-like condition which has not been studied in rabbits. Please send extra prayers and well wishes for our precious Mama Bear today! 🙏🏻♥️

Raisin defied all odds and is thriving today! He is strikingly handsome, social, affectionate, loving, and simply amazing in every way! AND… he will be at our Suns Out Buns Out Summer Fair and Fundraiser this weekend! We are bringing a few of our friendliest, most photogenic bunnies for bunny visits and photo shoots. VIP guests get photo shoots included in their ticket prices! General admission guests may also participate in photo shoots for a small donation. You may BYOB (bring your own bunny) to our event providing he/she is secured in a pet safe stroller or carrier for your photo shoot as well. Look who I found out of their nesting box this morning! They are only 10 days old. Our brown baby’s eyes have opened. He/she definitely takes after Mama Windy who kept climbing out of her 48” wooden enclosure. I had to move them to an xpen with a lid to keep her from escaping. Brown baby will look like Daddy Dusty while black baby will look like sister Nightbird. What sweet little loves! Both babies and two of their older siblings still need spay/neuter sponsors. $150 covers neuter and almost covers spay. Sponsors get to name their sponsored baby! Our new baby Frenchies stole the show at their first bunny assembly yesterday at a library in Mt. Morris. These three are as friendly as can be. They run to me for attention whenever they see me and soak up all the affection anyone is willing to give. They will need foster or foster to adopt homes in three weeks. URGENT RESCUERS NEEDED
EDIT: Animal control was contacted, went to the home and told the owner the rabbits need more space, then left. That’s it. They are doing nothing.
What a nightmare! This is an 🆘 situation and it’s really frustrating that it comes at a time when we cannot help. We are a rescue. Of course our passion is for rescuing rabbits in need. And these rabbits are in desperate need of rescuing. They were found after the 12 year old daughter of one of our fosters spotted a stray white rabbits and followed him in attempts to catch him. Instead, he led her back to a horrifying scene! When our foster followed up with the property owner, an elderly gentleman, he shared that two rabbits were given to him as pets and they soon started multiplying. He does not have a clue how to care for them or how to stop them. They are trapped in close quarters in the blazing heat eating watermelon. The daddy bunny was in a separate tiny enclosure outdoors without water or food of any kind. The owner said please take them, take them all. But we all know it’s not that easy. She took the daddy and we are sharing the story in hopes to find kind hearted bunny lovers who can step in and help. WE CANNOT TAKE ON THIS CASE, but we are willing to help facilitate getting them into safe homes. What does that mean? If you find it in your heart to rescue one or more of these rabbits, we can donate some supplies (maybe not enough for everyone) but whatever we have that we don’t need. While we do not support rabbits in cages, they can be a short term solution in emergent situations. We happen to have several cages we don’t use or need that can be donated to anyone willing to rescue one of these bunnies. We also encourage others who have xpens or other rabbit supplies they don’t need to donate to this cause. We can help arrange transport to you (if you are local to southeast MI) if you cannot pick up. And we will screen homes to ensure the rabbits will be going to a safe home. We are also avail

Fiona came to us 1.5 years ago. She was instantly loved by all our volunteers and sought after by several applicants. A few months later she was adopted and has been living her life as a 100% free roam bunny ever since. She is the perfect puppy bun, the perfect therapy bun, and …in two weeks she is being returned 😔
Her owner is moving out of state and unable to take her with her. We always take back our own, no matter how over capacity we are. But we absolutely hate to put her in a 4x4 xpen after living as a free roam rabbit all this time. She’s well behaved and litter trained and so very affectionate. We are hoping to find a new home for her in the next two weeks so she doesn’t have to be confined to a small pen at the rescue. She hated being in a pen before and it would be very depressing for her to have to return to one, especially considering she will also be losing her human family. When we had her before she preferred to be an only bun. She likes to hog her humans’ attention rather than share it with another bunny. Megacolon is now my number one most hated rabbit illness! Just yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet Faith after a long downhill battle with her own megacolon. Over the weekend I did a live video announcing that our sweet baby Digger also has megacolon and I talked briefly about the 5 megacolon bunnies we have at RRR. Faith (💔) and Owen. Bronco Billy and Dirty Harry. And Baby Digger. The bunny in the video is sweet Dirty Harry who was dumped on our property in a cardboard box along with 4 brothers. Harry and Bronco have megacolon. Bronco seems to have a mild case as he has had zero health complications so far, while Harry’s is severe (like Faith’s 😞). We have already been fighting battles with his up and down weight and frequent episodes of stasis for the past several months. His neuter had to be rescheduled 3 times due to stasis! He was finally neutered several weeks ago and shortly after, we decided to put him with his brother, Bronco. The brothers were instantly bonded and are as sweet with eachother as Faith and Owen were. I noticed over the past week that Dirty Harry was starting to look thinner again, but his activity and enthusiasm for food remained normal, so I kept my focus on Faith. Today I spent some dedicated time with DH and noticed he lost more weight than I realized. I am exhausted from the last several weeks of caring for Faith and devastated by her passing. But there is no time to rest. No time to check out. To take a break. To regroup. No time to mourn the loss of a very special bunny. Dirty Harry needs my full attention now. And he will get it.
