The Davisburg resident who previously caught 4 stray female bunnies that were patently dumped on or near her backyard, caught another one just today, in these brutal sub zero temps. We are told this new bun has sick looking poops and is very skinny. She is warm and has access to healthy rabbit food and hay and will stay in Davisburg overnight. There is a 6th bunny hopping around her backyard that she is trying to catch. We previously thought the coyotes may have gotten them because they haven’t been spotted for a few days. We are looking for anyone who might be able to transport bunny #5 (and #6 if caught) from Davisburg to Romeo sometime tomorrow.

If you can help with transport, please reach out via messenger. If we don’t know you personally, we would ask that you send a copy of your drivers license if you are able to transport this bunny for us. This is a protective measure for the bunny and not meant to be offensive. It’s awful we have to think like this, but as sad as it is, I’m sure there are people out there who would offer to pick up a free bunny then disappear with it. We appreciate your understanding in advance.

I am happy to share that our darling Mama Sunshine is back together with her sweet baby daddy, Magic. I just love it when bun parents can stay together. 🥰💞

Mama is has been doing much better since her earlier battle E. Cuniculi. She still has just the slightest tilt that is hardly noticeable but I do plan to run her through one more round of treatment (which takes 30 days). After that, I anticipate we will be able to put this adorable pair up for adoption as a bonded pair of course!

Thank you to those who donated towards or Davisburg girls. Our highest donor was and our second highest donor was May Marie. We appreciate all donations that came in just the same, no matter the size. Thank you for your generosity! Greg chose to keep the name Blueberry for our half blue eyed back girl and he named our grey girl, Bramble. 🥰

These poor girls are still so frightened they hide and freeze when I try to spend time with them. They do a little better once in my arms, but otherwise cower and won’t eat in my presence. We’ve got some work to do with them. Blueberry’s belly continues to bulge and I’m fairly sure now that I can feel babies. We are still accepting donations to help with their care as well as an expected upcoming litter. Any amount helps more than you realize! Thank you all for your continued support!

Update: after further examination, I now believe our grey Davisburg girl may have had her babies prior to being rescued. Sadly, babies born outside in these temps would not survive even if their mama was with them. Another reason it’s inhumane to release domestic rabbits into the wild to fend for themselves. Our black girl still appears quite “full” through her belly area. Keep following us for more updates.

Congratulations to Niko and Nickel (Now Sunny and Moon) for finding their forever home today! These adorable brothers were rescued as babies by Deanna three years ago. Deanna was a previous board member for RRR, fosters several of our buns, and is head of our search and rescue team. Her and her husband also rescue many bunnies themselves, caring for them out of their own pocket, and we are happy to help them find homes. We appreciate their efforts to help rabbits in need and today we are thrilled that one of their very special pairs has finally found their home sweet home.

Another congratulations goes out to Kiwi who seems to have found true love with a very sweet girl, Kiki. Kiki came in today looking for a husbun after losing her previous companion and it was love at first sight with Kiwi. The two hit it off so well, they were cuddling and grooming eachother as well as hopping around freely without even a hint of conflict during their bunny date. We always do meet and greets inside a bonding pen (with myself present for safety and to encourage positive interaction between buns) and we take our time with it. Rather than “speed dating” through a barrier, we allow the bunnies to meet without a barrier and take as much time as they need to decide how they feel about eachothers. Bunnies are like people, they don’t make up their mind about another bunny in the first few minutes of meeting, so rather than speed dating, we slow date. We let our bunnies set the pace. We want to be as sure as we can be that the two are compatible before sending them home together. And then we still do a foster to adopt, to allow for a trial period during the bonding phase. We don’t finalize the adoption until the bunnies are fully bonded and we are there to coach you through the process. Usually, even compatible bunnies will need some amount of redirection to ward off potential conflict and teach them how to respect each other’s boundaries. In Kiwi and Kiki’s case, they truly seem like a love at first sight pair who will need very little outside help to finish bonding so we anticipate Kiwi’s adoption will be finalized in the very near future.

Huge congratulations to our fabulous pair, Honey and Puff, who found their home sweet home with loving new bun parents in a 100% free roam home! Honey and Puff first came to us two years ago at approximately 7 weeks old with their 4 littermates. They were part of the Kalamazoo hutch dump case. Along with over 20 other rabbits, these poor sweeties were crammed like sardines in a hutch without food or water. When passerby’s complained, the owner of the hutch opened the door and let them all go stating “let the hawks get them!” With the help of , 28 bunnies were rescued. We took in 7 of them. Honey and Puff are the last two of those 7 to be adopted, 2 years later. It’s shocking that it has taken them so long to find a forever home considering their popularity. They have been part of our visiting bunny team for the past two summers and have accompanied us to countless school assemblies and nursing homes. Full of personality (and endless energy), they have been a favorite at all events. Because of how active they are, we required them to go to a free roam home. They simply are not happy being confined to a small space. We are so happy they have found the perfect home and wish them and their new bun parents all the happiness in the world!

I’m happy to report that our Capac bunnies are nice and warm! There is still more work to be done but the majority of the barn is now properly insulated and we are now bringing bunnies back who went to emergency foster homes. Huge thanks to everyone who helped us in any way during this “crisis” - as always, it takes a community to make a difference and we are so thankful for the wonderful bunny loving community we have! Total costs for this project have reached around $3000. We do not intend to be in this location past May and will likely remove most or all of the insulation to take with us when we go (unless our current landlords decides he wants to trade some rent for us to leave it). Thank you to those who have donated towards this great expense. We did take a financial hit and would appreciate any help in recovering what was spent. Feel free to donate directly on this post or via Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, cashapp, mail, or CC over the phone. Small donations are appreciated just as much as large donations.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We are overjoyed for our sweet Paprika who was adopted yesterday, making it to her forever home in time for Christmas. Paprika was surrendeeed with her 5 siblings in November 2022 after their owner had a stroke. They were just 8 weeks old at the time. All 5 of her siblings were able to find homes without too much trouble, but Paprika was the shyest, and the blackest and no one was interested in giving her a home. After spending several months in a wonderful foster home, she grew out of her shyness and became attention seeking and social. A couple weeks ago an approved applicant came to meet the bunnies and it did not take long for Paprika to steel her heart. We are so happy for our sweet girl and her new bun family. We wish you all the happiness in the world!

Mama Bear and Papa Bear’s last two babies will be spayed and neutered today. Ebony La Bonnie Bear has been in an FTA home with one of our volunteers, Kim, and Earl Grey has been with another volunteer, Suzie Barilka-Bareis since they were 8 weeks old. Once they recover from their surgeries today, we will finalize their adoptions. They are loved and cherished in their forever homes and are very happy bunnies with long wonderful lives ahead of them! Best of luck sweet Baby Bears. Please send prayers and well wishes.

Cocoa Puff and Peanut, born August 26, are Sunshine and Magic’s daughters. They are currently sharing and enclosure with their sisters, Cinnabun and Georgia. They all get along well but these two have definitely paired up as besties so, providing nothing changes, they will be made available for adoption as a bonded pair after they are spayed.
