May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month
How can a bug so small wreak cause so many issues on both humans and animals?
It is not about mosquitoes or fruit flies, its a TICK!
Small, dark, and mysterious, ticks lurk in the shadows and spy as you and your dog walk outdoors. Ticks are the silent predators of the bug community.
An infected tick bite can result in the harsh side effects of Lyme disease for you or your dog. Lyme is an often forgotten or overlooked sickness that many people may have heard about but don’t know the intricate details of.
Lyme disease is caused by an infection from tick-transmitted Borrelial Pathogens. In the U.S., Borrelia Burgdorferi is the main cause and it’s spread by the blacklegged tick. Blacklegged ticks are sometimes called deer ticks or bear ticks sometimes. Blacklegged tick territory includes tall grass, shrubbery, and forests where they can find ample prey to latch onto.
Unfortunately, Lyme carrying ticks have the ability to survive year-round, even in below-freezing temperatures. Prime tick season occurs between April and October.
Be sure to do a routine check after each outdoor activity.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Wanted to update some of y'all on the life changes going on!
Almost 3 months ago, I made the crazy decision to leave my career and resign from Law Enforcement. After 8 years of service, it was by far the hardest decision I have ever made. I was so fortunate to work for two outstanding departments, with some of the best men and women in the country. I am so grateful to the many friends and mentors I made working in LE and will always remember the good times we had.
I started a dog training company with my wife, Kelsey Bendixen. I had been toying with the idea a little over a year ago, and started Keith's K9 Training just to see how it went. I was able to get connected with some amazing business entrepreneurs and went into it not knowing what in the world to do. Over the past year, I was able to dive deep into how to run a business and what a learning curve it was!
Fast forward to today, I want to formally introduce our new dog training company called Inclined Canine Academy. It's been a crazy 2 months since starting, but it is so cool to see it growing. Our 1st month we were just shy of being booked to capacity, and we are on our way this month for being completely full. This wouldn't be possible without our team helping out in the day-to-day operations, and I am so blessed to have them! We currently have 3 employees and hoping to continue growing and scaling in the next several months.
This would not have been possible without the help of Louie Torres and Unleashed Consulting. Thank you guys so much for all your help, mentoring, zoom calls, emails, etc. It's crazy to think that 3 months ago I was working a "9 to 5" job, and now I am running my own business! Y'all rock!
I can't thank Kelsey Bendixen enough for believing in me and trusting me in this endeavor. It is a huge risk to leave a career, especially in today's age, but she supports me 100%.
Thank you Brent Cooper for being, IMO, one of the best dog trainers on the planet. You have taught me so much over the past 10 years, I cannot thank you enough!
Very excited for the future and to be able to provide a quality training service in my area. Time to ruffle some feathers!
Group of dogs!
These amazing shepherds know how to work together!
Saturday mornings these members join a training class to make sure their shepherds are the best!

Brent Cooper and German Shepherds of the Bay Area celebrated 13 years together.
From day one (1st picture) Brent has always taken the time to help each person and never made any of us feel like we could not have the best shepherd possible.
Brent, THANK YOU for all your hard work during the past 13 years!

GERMAN SHEPHERD DAY! May 10th:
The idea of keeping aside at least one day of the year to honour the noble German Shepherd breed was a well thought out one that was brewing in the minds of true German Shepherd enthusiasts all over the world.
Though each day of the year is a celebration when it comes to our german shepherds ,a few of us hardcore breed fans started celebrating the 10th of May as the official GSD Day as a gesture of our love & commitment to this loyal companion.
Thank you Maria Garibadi for sharing this day.
Post a picture of your German Shepherd~
