Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers is a breeder of quality, dual purpose flat-coated retrievers I also own a coffee company named Black Dog Coffee Traders.

Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers is a small breeder of this wonderful dual purpose breed. We are extremely passionate about this breed and producing sound, correct, dual-purpose dogs with wonderful flatcoat temperaments. We participate in all venues of competition dog sports from conformation (show ring), field work, agility, field, obedience, rally, tracking and dock diving. We do not breed

often but when we do (about once every two years) we do a significant amount of research into the health and temperament of the sire and dam being bred, as well as several generation back, including all of their ancestors offspring. We run several health tests including hips/elbows/patellas/cardiac/thyroid/CERF& Gonioscopy (eye exams). We will not breed any sire or dam without all of these clearances. We are very serious about not only bettering our own lines but our breed as a whole. I am personally involved in several boards to promote and better our breed including serving as president, vice president and board member over the years, of the Northwest Flat-Coated Retriever Club as well a co chairing National Specialties etc. This was named after my heart and soul dog, Mick (who was called "Black Dog"). We donate 5% of our profits to the AKC Canine Health Foundation for canine cancer research. We are very serious about making sure we match each puppy with the perfect home. If our job is done correctly each person will secretly know that they got the BEST puppy from the litter. If you fill out an application for a puppy there are no right or wrong answers, they just help us assess and match the right puppy with the right family. We are here for the life of the dog and always here to answer any questions you might have. Huge congratulations to Team Windy (Andrew x Kindi Kane)!!! I'm so proud of this young little girl holding a spot in the top five and getting an invite to Westminster despite not being shown the past few months while she was field training.

I couldn't be more proud to not only have one flat coat in the top 5, but 2 (per Canine Chronicle, breed points)! Team Driller (Prince Charming x Kindi Kane) worked their butts off this year for rankings and finished in the number five spot but Westminster calculates the point slightly different than AKC. Kat is in a very tough area that rarely has much competition and still managed to hold on to that number 5 spot (breed points, Canine Chronicle). However, the way that Westminster calculates the points it put Driller in 6th by a difference of two or three points.

Huge congratulations to all five dogs that received an invite! They were all very deserving and I look forward to seeing them in the ring!

I could not be more excited for Team Windy Hill Flat-Coated Retrievers and the phenomenal job done by Angela Lloyd with Windy!

Yay Team DaVinci (Prince Charming x Kindi Kane) !!! Today at the Electric City Kennel Club Show in Great Falls, MT:

DaVinci was awarded a Group 3, under Richard J. Lewis! Beautifully presented by Sarah Moore.

Huge congratulations to Sarah Moore on a stellar day across the board!

I love seeing the candids of Sarah and Vinch because you can see that they are genuinely both having fun and that means everything ❤️

Sarah and Biggie Smalls are poppin' bottles!!

We are so proud of Team DaVinci!! Today at the Electric City Kennel Club Show in Great Falls, MT-DaVinci WON THE SPORTING GROUP under Ms. Peggy Beisel-Mcllwaine!! This is DaVinci's 4th group win, w very limited showing!

Presented beautifully, as always , by Sarah Moore Vintage Boxers LLC . Sarah and DaVinci jelled as a team right out of the gate (despite Vinci's lack of experience and not having been in the show ring for quite some time).

Sarah first showed DaVinci in October of 23 & earned a G3 their first day together . In 2024 they have paired up for 6 long weekends of shows and amassed 3 G1s, 2 G3s and a G4!

I'm so excited to see what the future holds for Team DaVinci!!

Not to be out done by her son, Kindi Kane (Vegas x Zelda), won the Veterans Sporting Group, under Gloria Kerr! Beautifully presented by Sarah Moore. Kindi hasn't shown in over a year but no one told Kindi, nor did anyone tell her she was 8.5! She moved beautifully! Nailed her free stack! More importantly she had an absolute ball!! She loved the applause as always!

Dock diving - Best jump (w an atrophied foot from surgery and months of no running, swimming or jumping) 15ft 9 in.

DaVinci- first time dock diving, no practice (we forgot), 14 ft 6 in. He LOVES dock diving! I can't wait to see him progress!

Well I almost went home w my busted foot & pain ,but I'm happy Randy and I stuck around. Team DaVinci (Prince Charming x Kindi Kane) won the sporting group today under John Cole.

Sarah Moore did a phenomenal job keeping Vinci engaged and having fun. Sarah and DaVinci have only been to 4 shows together and amassed 2 group 1s, 1 G3 and 1 G4. They instantly gelled as team and have a ton of fun together. I look forward to their future together.

Sarah works her @$$ off. She's never misses a beat and we have a ball. I can't thank her enough for taking a beautiful boy without any real experience as a special in a long time, and making him look his best. Cheers to G1 #3 w very limited showing! Thank you Sarah!

Thank you Tiffanie Coe for that 1st G1 last summer, you rock!

What a fabulous weekend for Team Northern Lights FCRs at the Lizard Butte Kennel Club Show this weekend!

Friday: DaVinci won a packed sporting group, under one of my favorite judges, Gloria Kerr. Breed by John Cole.

Saturday: DaVinci was awarded a Bre d & Group IV under well respected judge, Patricia Trotter, in a packed group.

Sunday: DaVinci was awarded Best of Breed by Gloria Kerr! Sarah Moore, you rock!!! Thank you for not missing a beat!

Meanwhile, Colter, was awarded Winners Dog all 3 days!

Meanwhile, on the performance end, in the Agility ring Team Aspen (Austin x Kaitlyn) did a really BIG THING!! We are so incredibly proud of you!!!

Well today was a dream come true !!!! Aspen at age 5 earned her AGCH - Agility Grand Championship. For my non- agility friends that is

A ton of training, practice and competitions over about 3 years.

DaVinci x Gigi babies Have arrived and I'm so proud of each and every one of you! There are seven beautiful babies for beautiful girls and three beautiful boys! am so proud of Gigi! She did an amazing job yesterday and is already the best puppy mommy ever! Yes, the puppies are here, born on Super Bowl Sunday.
