Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers is a breeder of quality, dual purpose flat-coated retrievers I also own a coffee company named Black Dog Coffee Traders.

Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers is a small breeder of this wonderful dual purpose breed. We are extremely passionate about this breed and producing sound, correct, dual-purpose dogs with wonderful flatcoat temperaments. We participate in all venues of competition dog sports from conformation (show ring), field work, agility, field, obedience, rally, tracking and dock diving. We do not breed

often but when we do (about once every two years) we do a significant amount of research into the health and temperament of the sire and dam being bred, as well as several generation back, including all of their ancestors offspring. We run several health tests including hips/elbows/patellas/cardiac/thyroid/CERF& Gonioscopy (eye exams). We will not breed any sire or dam without all of these clearances. We are very serious about not only bettering our own lines but our breed as a whole. I am personally involved in several boards to promote and better our breed including serving as president, vice president and board member over the years, of the Northwest Flat-Coated Retriever Club as well a co chairing National Specialties etc. This was named after my heart and soul dog, Mick (who was called "Black Dog"). We donate 5% of our profits to the AKC Canine Health Foundation for canine cancer research. We are very serious about making sure we match each puppy with the perfect home. If our job is done correctly each person will secretly know that they got the BEST puppy from the litter. If you fill out an application for a puppy there are no right or wrong answers, they just help us assess and match the right puppy with the right family. We are here for the life of the dog and always here to answer any questions you might have. The Legends Litter (Reggie x Story) - 11 days old today! Their little eyes are all opening and it's amazing how much it increases their movement! They are so fast! They are all trying to stand and walk.

Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a litter April 19th, 2025 (all black puppies). This litter should be a lovely combination of brains, brawn and beauty.

We have been planning this litter for awhile now and are so excited! The sire, Reggie, is a Senior Hunter and 2 Master passes. Both parents have very sweet temperaments and are extremely biddable, as are their parents; Lui, Favor, Prince Charming and Kindi. The temperaments and biddability shine through in all of their kids and is something we anticipate in this litter.

Both parents have lovely movement, nice bone, gorgeous heads, solid top lines, dark eyes, willing to please and truly a pleasure to have as a teammate. They get along with anyone or any dog they meet.

Thank you Kerry M. Forni and Keli Martin for letting us use your beautiful boy and coordinating through blizzards and everything else thrown at us. Thank you Adora Lanphere and Anthony Loki Quade for intrusting me with our girl and this special litter!

We confirmed pregnancy via ultrasound on St. Patrick's Day! X Ray is April 14th. We do have a few spots left on the puppy list. Inquiries: Heather Dawson [email protected] or PM.

Welcome the newest edition to Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers! This is Santa Lucia, aka Lucci, and she is 14mo old.

Lucci shows such promise! She has a wonderful tempernment and is maturing beautifully! Lucci was awarded her first major last weekend in Madison, WI. She was beautifully presented by Sarah Moore and Mac Moore.

Welcome to Northern Lights Flat Coated Retrievers Lucci! We are absolutely thrilled to have you and look forward to your future. Kindi is thrilled to have a BFF!

Huge congratulations to Team Windy (Andrew x Kindi Kane)!!! I'm so proud of this young little girl holding a spot in the top five and getting an invite to Westminster despite not being shown the past few months while she was field training.

I couldn't be more proud to not only have one flat coat in the top 5, but 2 (per Canine Chronicle, breed points)! Team Driller (Prince Charming x Kindi Kane) worked their butts off this year for rankings and finished in the number five spot but Westminster calculates the point slightly different than AKC. Kat is in a very tough area that rarely has much competition and still managed to hold on to that number 5 spot (breed points, Canine Chronicle). However, the way that Westminster calculates the points it put Driller in 6th by a difference of two or three points.

Huge congratulations to all five dogs that received an invite! They were all very deserving and I look forward to seeing them in the ring!

I could not be more excited for Team Windy Hill Flat-Coated Retrievers and the phenomenal job done by Angela Lloyd with Windy!

Yay Team DaVinci (Prince Charming x Kindi Kane) !!! Today at the Electric City Kennel Club Show in Great Falls, MT:

DaVinci was awarded a Group 3, under Richard J. Lewis! Beautifully presented by Sarah Moore.

Huge congratulations to Sarah Moore on a stellar day across the board!

I love seeing the candids of Sarah and Vinch because you can see that they are genuinely both having fun and that means everything ❤️
