Homeless Pet Help has ceased operations in NYC. From 2016 to early 2020 we gave out food and supplies on a regular basis. Most of this was documented with photos. Since 2020 and directly because of Covid there aren't nearly as many homeless pet owners on the street; all of our former regular customers are in housing. In mid 2020 we were unable to give out supplies because there wasn't anyone to give them to. That hasn't changed.
Our focus is now with Senior Pet Home New York, providing a forever home for the least likely to be adopted shelter pets. There's no shortage of older pets stuck in cages and no sign that it will end any time soon. Or ever.

The dogs you see in this photo are what most would call “less-adoptable”. To all of us here at Home for Good, these dogs are just the opposite, however, for a variety of reasons these poor dogs are overlooked due to absolutely no fault of their own. 😔

DUKE: Also known as the life of the party, this handsome boy was rescued alongside his sister Dixie from rural Georgia where they were found roaming as strays. Duke had a severe eye infection that was causing him pain. The Veterinarian deemed it would be in Duke’s best interest if he have his eye surgically removed. He went through surgery like an absolute champ and is now awaiting the perfect forever home. A family who is home moreso than not and loves to be on the go would be Duke’s perfect match.

ROCKY: Rocky was dumped in a kill shelter at just a few months of age after being abused by previous humans. Rocky had never felt the gentle hand of a human prio to his rescue. It took months in foster care, but slowly Rocky began to blossom. Today, his goofy personality shines right through when in the company of other dogs. Therefore, Rocky must go to a patient and loving family with other playful dogs already present.

DUSTIN: Dustin was rescued from Barnwell, South Carolina where he would have otherwise died because of a severe case of puppy strangles. This idiopathic disease is one that attacks the puppy’s immune system leaving open lesions all over the face and neck area. Once rescued, Dustin was placed on the correct treatment regimen and began responding within just a few days. There was nothing stopping this boy! Now with almost all his fur grown back, Dustin is the puppy he is meant to be and ready to find his forever family!

ROUX: Roux was surrendered back to HFGDR in January 2022 after his family stated they could no longer keep him due to having young children in the home. Roux had been a part of this family for TEN years and at that point is when his family gave up on him. Roux has been nothing but a pleasure in his foster home. He is looking for a forever family that will spoil and love him like the king he is in his most golden years of life.

KATO: Kato was originally adopted through HFG as a precious 5-month-old puppy in June of 2013. After nearly NINE years of living in the same home, Kato became an “until” dog. Turns out Kato’s original owners no longer had time for the dog and no one in the family wanted to “deal” with the dog. Instead, he was given up on and surrendered back to Home for Good due to absolutely no fault of his own. Kato is now safe in his foster home, awaiting a FOREVER home that will love him for life, not just when he’s a cute 5-month-old puppy and it’s convenient…

The reason Homeless Pet Help hasn't been posting donation photos is because there aren't nearly as many homeless pet owners on the street in NYC because of Covid.
