Lilac Sky Farm Hatchery Lilac Sky Farm Hatchery is a Micro Hatchery located in Wyoming. Follow along as we grow! I love being around animals, and the farm is definitely my happy place.

I am no expert on anything, I just enjoy farming and learning along with way. We have been raising goats for 4 years, chickens for 6 years, quail for 2 years, ducks for 3 years. I have also raised Club Calves for about 12 years, and cattle in general for 21 years. This page will show you both the ups and downs of farming. I am very open and honest about the perils of farming. Though owning a farm

is rewarding and amazing, it can be hard and completely heartbreaking at times. Thanks for joining us and we hope you enjoy!

* Easter Eggers *

Though they are a crossbred type hen, they are one of my favorite breeds to have! If you are interested in having just a little bit of color in your basket but aren't sure what to get, this is the breed for you! They lay nice-sized eggs, and they lay a variety of colors! Blue, Green, Pinkish, brown, and probably a few other colors depending on the chicken and its breeding.

Easter Eggers will lay 4-6 Medium/Large Eggs per week. They are one of the more friendly and docile birds that we have raised. Another reason i keep buying them!

* Blue Andalusian *

Though we only have one in our flock, she sure is pretty! My daughter has picked her out of a random layer bin at the feed store. I can't help but buy them when someone just leaves on in there by itself, so I couldn't say no haha

Blue Andalusians will lay 4-6 Medium White Eggs a week.

She is one of the most flighty birds we own and doesn't want anything to do with people. haha That's okay though, she sure is pretty to look at!

* Welsummer *

A great breed if you are looking for some cool-colored eggs!
They lay brown eggs, anywhere from dark to normal brown.
Mainly known for their amazing speckled eggs! Of course, not all welsummers are going to have speckled eggs. A lot is dependent on their breeding and the chicken itself.

Welsummer chickens will lay around 3-5 M/L dark brown (possibly speckled eggs).

They aren't out friendliest birds, but ours have some beautiful eggs!

* Amberlink *

Amberlinks are another new to us breed. My daughter had picked this one, and she was the only one we ended up with. The tubs at the local feed store had obviously gotten mixed up, because the other ones ended up being White Leghorns.

Amberlinks will lay approx 300 Large brown eggs each year. This particular hen lays a pretty dark brown egg.

* White Leghorn *

These girls are great layers to have in the flock. We have 5 of them, and they are also some of our friendliest girls. They lay some large white eggs.

White Leghorns will lay large white eggs. Approx 5+ per week. A great addition to any flock!

* Speckled Sussex *

This breed is not one of my favorites for its egg color, but for their color pattern. They have the most beautiful markings! This hen in particular is my favorite one of the bunch. I call her diamond because she is just so gorgeous!
We have 4 of this breed and she is the most colorful one we have.

Speckled Sussex will lay Medium/Large Brown eggs. Approximately 4-6 eggs a week. These girls will also get more white coloring in their feathers every time they molt. Making them more beautiful every single year.

* Silver Laced Wyandotte*

One of the many colors of Wyandottes, this color pattern is just beautiful. I'll admit they are a breed that look a little funny through the first several months of their lives. When they finally get the pattern in their feathers, they look so beautiful.

This is the only hen we have of this breed, and she is a calm, unbothered girl.

Info on this breed:

They are said to lay Large Brown eggs. Approximately 4-6 per week. Hardy in most climates, and should reach laying maturity 16-20 weeks.

They are a great addition to your flock if you want some nice large eggs!

To start off the page I thought I would highlight what breeds we currently have in our flock.
I usually breed chickens specifically to get different egg colors. Olive eggers are one of my main focuses.
Since we had to start over our flock last year, I let our 2-year-old daughter at the time, pick out most of our chickens. So our flock is not entirely what I want to breed, but we are getting a good amount of eggs right now to sell and use!
That being said our first few posts will be highlighting breeds and everything you need to know about them.
Some of you may not be a chicken keeper or are new to is, so I like to share the info on all of our animals for people's curiosity!

Welcome to our page! I thought our Poultry deserved their own page. This page will focus on our Chickens. Of course, our soon-to-be quail and ducks as well.
So if you love chickens, pretty eggs, and other species of fowl, feel free to give us a follow!
I am building our flock back up where I want it, and hopefully next year we will be getting our breeding program started again. Along with our NPIP Certification.
Those are my goals, we just don't know how long all of these processes will take.
So feel free to stick along for the ride and enjoy the farm!
(The eggs pictured are from 2021).

As I said in the Bio, I am no expert, nor will I try to act like one. Any info I have on here is either from the place we purchase our birds, personal experience, our own vet (injuries, etc), or help from other breeders.
I will not tolerate a bunch of negativity on the page, you will be deleted. There's already enough negativity online, I want this to be a safe space for all chicken/poultry keepers. New, experienced, or people who want to get into poultry.
Ideas/suggestions are absolutely welcome, just be as positive as possible! Everyone is trying there best out here!

I want this page to be a place where people can ask all the questions without feeling like they will get made fun of or torn down. There are no stupid questions here!!

Will I have all the answers? Absolutely not. I will make sure to point you in the right direction so you can get your question answered though!
