Due to social distancing measures, many of you may not have been able to visit your vet to have your cat’s nails trimmed, or maybe you’ve never even considered it before- which is perfectly normal!
However, all the young birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians that are starting to venture out to start their lives have a much better chance of escape if ambushed, if your cat’s front toe claws are relatively short and blunt. Which means it could be time to learn to do this simple chore yourselves.
Read our tips below and follow me trimming Cassie’s nails on the IGTV tab. Tap LIKE, comment below & SHARE!
Begin when your cat is happy, relaxed and preferably sleepy. Lots of strokes and lots of praise go a long way. Stay relaxed and confident, whilst carefully making your way round the front toes, clipping off just the sharp tips so that they become flat, in line with the bottom of the foot, when extended. You need to be careful not to go too near the blood supply to the nails as that will hurt your cat just as it would you. Note that this is nearly impossible to see if your cat has dark nails- so BE CAREFUL. Don’t pull, push or force anything, take it SLOW. Only do as much as your cat feels comfortable with, otherwise next time you try this, it will be traumatic for you both!
As with anything, do get your VET’s advice, read up and watch some YouTube videos too.

No one needs to teach cats how to meditate, they seem naturally able to grasp the concept of being still, present and yet perfectly aware of their surroundings.
This also makes them incredible hunters! Conserving energy when they can so that when the opportunity presents, they can POUNCE!
Beau’s bells keep your little hunter happy as they get to live a natural life with access to the great outdoors, whilst at the same time, protecting wildlife from their grasp.

Cats are natural predators but in our opinion that doesn’t mean they should be kept exclusively indoors. Even more so than in the case of humans, indoor enrichment can supplement but cannot replace adventures outdoors. Beau’s Bells help to drastically reduce or even prevent wildlife fatalities whilst allowing your cat to live its best life.

Do you have a high prey drive dog (or two) that tends to bolt when they smell a whiff of something interesting? Try them with some Beaus Bells. Although this won’t stop them chasing, you will at least be able to hear where they’ve gone. That’s less worry for you 😊

Beau’s Bell’s protect wildlife and your pet. Read our reviews on Amazon to find out why thousands of people are using them. We usually recommend small for cats but here Roo is wearing medium because the bigger the bell, the louder the sound (and this hunter needed the loudest he could carry!) 😺🦜🐿

Being a stealthy hunter requires camouflage and patience, which Smokey has plenty of. Luckily, at the slightest movement the bells on his collar will ring and warn unsuspecting birds of his presence.
