Horses are such therapeutic animals they are able to connect with children and adults with special or mental health needs. Also to help with things like ptsd, anxiety or depression. Horses also teach life skills to people at risk or struggling with confidence..
Horses can be a lifeline to people struggling.
They are amazing👏😍❤ ###x

Thank you to Helen Mac for your patience with me riding your lovely boy this eve in our session. I haven't ridden for 6 months following my broke foot and complications of!! Apart from being incredibly unfit and no leg strength... im back and so glad to be riding!!!!!!! Teddy also looked after me as well think he felt sorry for me!! X###

Some very small gridwork last week with Amelia and Hugo.. Note the jumps are very small and poles this exercise gets the rider following the movement more without the height element. Please note these exercises can be quite taxing for horse as teaches them to use hindquarters so appreciate if they find it tricky ###

Love this video! Lottie and Pj working on jumping on a 20 metre circle! This morning we got soaked!! This is a really tricky exercise as you have to use your seat and turn and look correctly as if you don't you will miss jumps. Love pj running over me at the end as he was so pleased with himself and my feral child shouting at me 🤪🤪🤣###

This was Courtney and Tigg last night in their clear round "have a go" jumping eve. What is so great about clear round jumping events is you can take your wobbly/ young/ old/ nervous riders and have a go and if you go clear you get a rosette if not uou have gained experience! Really good for confidence and team building. I think this partnership did extremely well as it was their first clear round. Well Done Both X###

Great lesson this morning! Pj and Lottie worked on trot poles on a 20 metre circle. Really good occasionally canter right us wrong...🙃😄 But all going in the right direction. We gave decided we love polework! See you thursday Xx

Horse Riding Instructor

I have extensive experience with horses and am a qualified riding instructor. I have been riding since I was 8 years old and have worked with young horses backing and schooling my own horses and on behalf of clients. I have particularly enjoyed working with horses that are difficult and not straight forward as I love the challenge and the results are so rewarding.

I have competed in all disciplines namely showjumping, dressage and cross country and have really enjoyed this aspect, particularly as the horses I have owned have always been brought on and schooled by myself.

In more recent years I have had the pleasure of taking my passion of instructing to a new level and have been able to work with vulnerable young adults who, for whatever reason, have struggled in a traditional classroom environment. I have worked in settings where the young adults have complex needs so I have managed to develop my approach so that it is totally inclusive regardless of the challenges that the individual faces. The results that I have seen have been truly remarkable and have given these young people purpose, drive, self confidence and an enthusiasm that they had never previously experienced.

In addition to my Instructing experience I have worked in school settings including primary, secondary and behavioural units. I have been an Equine yard manager in a specialist SEN environment. I have been a development mentor and assistant head of year 11 with a responsibility for anti-bullying. I have also set up a horse riding club for SEN pupils at secondary school.
