Los Angeles is my home town and they really need our help right now. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes leaving their beloved pets displaced as well. One way we can help is by donating to one of the many animal shelters who are taking in pets and wildlife in need. Please consider making a monetary donation or visiting their wishlists.
You could also donate to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation to help our fire fighters in the days ahead.
Please help my home town.

Meet Princess Goldie, a 4-month-old puppy who had her first grooming experience today. I have a routine to introduce puppies to grooming, including visits to each groomer, observation, gentle baths, and a 'mini groom'. This helps them become comfortable with the process and view it as a normal part of life, rather than a punishment. Goldie did fabulous for her first time and I look forward to grooming her for her lifetime. Just look at that sweet little face!

Sometimes in my career (more often then I care to dwell on) I am given the opportunity to do something very simple that has the power to transform an animals quality of life. Today was one of those special days.
Suzie, is an over weight, older gal who has a hard time cleaning herself up after going potty. She came in with a very matted and urine soaked rear-end. I knew it was imperative to remove the matted hair from that area before I attempted any other part of the grooming process. Cats often times have a very low threshold of patience for grooming. I try to work as fast as I can with them without sacrificing safety. My goal was to at least take care of this issue first in case I couldnt finish any other part of the groom. As I began shaving her rear-end I noticed this poor girl had a significant amount of urine scalding on the surrounding skin. Think of a terrible diaper rash and you have an idea of what urine scalding is. I was able to gently remove all the fur in the area that had been causing her a fair amount of discomfort. She was uncomfortable to say the least but she allowed me to do everything I needed to help her. Including, a good bath and cleaning of her rear to ensure the proper healing of her fragile skin. After all was said and done and Suzie was dry and ready to go home, this sweet girl, purred and snuggled and even gave me kisses. I have no doubt that this was Suzie's way of thanking me for helping her feel better. My heart felt good!
This post is not to shame the owner for the condition of the pet. They were educated on when to bring Suzie back so we can prevent this from happening in the future. Rather this post is about the sometimes subtle ways animals communicate with the humans of the world. Animals do talk, we just have to listen. 🩷

This little sweetheart is Sophie, whom I have been grooming since she was 12 weeks old. Now, she is over a year old and has become a wonderful dog for grooming, despite being a bit squirmy while trimming her face. She is such a little doll, and I adore her. Stubby's Dog Wash & Grooming Salon
