We are on intake hold until we can raise funds to cover some of our recent vet bills.

Our intakes have been losing a lot of teeth! That means a big expense for the rescue.
Our dogs mainly come from breeder releases, who have not been vetted or taken care most of their life…until they get into rescue.

We have had emergency spays, rotting teeth, most dogs in the last month have had 11 or more teeth removed resulting in $750 vet bills for each dog, JUST FOR TEETH 😭

Could you imagine? Rotting teeth leads to other health issues as well when the infections create bacteria, that triggers the immune system and causes inflammation which kills bacteria but destroys healthy tissue which leads to tissue loss, pain and infection which if all is left untreated it can cause issues with major organs, and lead to heart disease.

What a black hole these poor dogs get into when not taken care of.

We are thankful we can help as many as we can with the help from our volunteers and fosters, but we can’t do that without the support we receive from supporters/donors/angels.

With 4 dogs lately who have had all these dentals, one emergency spay, our funds are quickly depleting.

It’s Thankful Thursday and we need your help! We’re on intake hold until we can raise enough funds to cover all our vet bills.

Update! Jack is in a foster home and doing his PT. Thank you to everyone who commented or contacted us to help out.

Jack is in need of a foster or foster to adopt ASAP in the Mpls/St.Paul area.

He’s 11 weeks old and was born with defects in his front legs.

Our rescue vet decided after research & talking with colleagues that Jacks surgery should wait until the end of February giving him more time to grow. Between now & then he should have rehab therapy at a facility in Burnsville, MN to stretch his muscles. So a new foster would have to be willing to take him there for appts & then do the exercises with him daily.

Jack is fun and full of energy. Loves to chew and bite ankles and loves playing with all dogs.
He’s so so on potty training and needs to be carried up and down stairs.

We’ve taken in a lot of mill dogs in our years, but this little guy is one of the worst things we’ve seen.

Here he is!
Jack Frost joined us on this very cold day. He is such a sweet little thing and we couldn’t be more grateful that he made it to our rescue.

As you can see, his front legs turn out. He’s going to need to see an orthopedic vet to help correct this as best as they can.

Giving Tuesday is coming up and like so many, we rely on our donors and donations to help support our efforts of rescuing.

Coming up, we will be sharing with you an 8 week old puppy from a puppy mill whose front legs are deformed. They did nothing for him until they decided to find someone to take him. Thank God they didn’t put him down.

We get him into rescue tomorrow, Monday. We have seen the videos, this little dog is a warrior and one who will need donations so we can help him get the best care he deserves.

Along with sharing who he is, we will be keeping everyone updated on how he does throughout his journey.

We’re nearing the end of our day. Have you donated yet?

Look at each of these faces, they’re so thankful they made it into rescue and have/had found their forever home.

When we take a dog into rescue they go through all the vetting, wellness check, microchip, vaccines, dental, spay/neuter, umbilical hernias- we’ve had three this month! The list goes on and on. All of this adds up quickly! Adoption fees don’t even cover these costs.

We have a dog in rescue right now that we have to send to boot camp because he doesn’t know how to be a gentleman. That, along the vetting he’s already had, is costing us up towards $2k.

This is why we need help, so a dog like that can get to his forever home and stay.

Thank you to those who have donated!

We have all day to hit our goal of $8,000!!

If you recognize any of these faces, please comment! As I look at these faces I can recall each dog, who adopted them and what their story was.

One dog in particular we saved from Chicago animal care and control who was tagged rescue only, because he was “viscious” in his cage. I mean, I would be too if I was picked up, locked up and scared. That dog was tagged by us to get him out and the sweetest lady went to CACC and sprung him loose. He was originally named Steinham..after Gloria Steinham, because he disliked men 😂
That same lady who picked him up fell in love with him and he with her. Unfortunately, Elvis, his forever name, passed away this year. He was such a good boy and was loved so much by his family and everyone around him.

You know what I mean when a dog reaches our hearts and leaves their paw print on our heart.

It’s Give to the Max day!!

We have had so many dogs come into rescue that have touched our souls. Here is one that particularly touched the lives in my family.

Mr. Jimmy was found as a stray, no one claimed him, but as soon as he saw me and my kids he claimed us.

We were fortunate to have him in our lives for 9 years, 2 mos and 27 days.

One of my kids grew a great attachment to Jimmy, calling him his best friend and was with him the day we had to make the decision his quality of life was never going to get better with the cluster seizures he kept having.
To this day, that same kid, who is a senior in college now, wears Jimmy’s dog tag on his chain.

That there is why we rescue, why we do what we do for every single dog. Because every single dog has meant something to someone like Jimmy did with my son and our family.

Give to the Max is next Thursday! But it’s not too early to start donating!

These two dogs recently came in to rescue and will be vetted soon. Donations will be a must as one needs a neuter and umbilical hernia surgery and then a month or so later will need surgery with an eye specialist to remove his cherry eye.

The other one is in need of a spay and dental.

Both dogs are from a puppy mill and are very lucky to be in rescue!

The biggest risk to your dog from chewing on antlers is broken teeth. Commercially sold antlers, usually deer or elk, are extremely hard with an unforgiving surface, like a rock or concrete. Would you let your dog chew on rocks or concrete? Of course not!

No veterinary dental specialist will ever sign off on letting your dog chew antlers. Never. Broken teeth are painful for your dog and often lead to infection and tooth root abscesses. Fractured teeth frequently require surgical extraction, subjecting your dog to an expensive and painful procedure for something that is completely preventable.

Poor Lolli is back in rescue, no fault of his. In his short 18 mos he has never had someone letting him know who’s boss.

Obedience training is a must. He is such a sweet guy, just needs someone to spend time working with him to be the best canine version we know he can be.

New to rescue!

Maggie is 6 yrs old. Her vetting needs- spay/dental overall wellness check- will cost up towards $1000. She is loving life and being with her foster mom, who she doesn’t let leave her side 💗 Maggie will be ready for adoption after her vetting is completed.

He is only 4 mos old!
His vetting needs are going to be more extensive, which is why the mill released him to us.
Cherry eye, umbilical hernia, neuter and wellness check- This will cost up towards $2k!

We’re grateful we were able to take these two in yesterday and thankful for our fosters!

Winston is a sweet, cuddly little guy who is curious, playful, and super smart. He's very assertive when he doesn't want to do something, but also super engaged when he does. He's very food motivated so he's easy to guide, and he very athletic and daring.

Winston loves belly rubs and naps! Dislikes reflections... He barks like crazy when he sees something move in a window or glass reflection. That's just the puppy side of him right now as he figures out things that are real or not.
