When we saw the challenge by Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training we didn't think our Cockerpoos would cope with a bulky, heavy clipboard but Mr B came up trumps, 1st attempt! On the second attempt with the clipboard I scrapped the sitting first as that's not comfortable for his knees, and you can see he becomes much more enthusiastic about taking the item!
I sped up the first 15 seconds as that's just the prep, getting him to hold something easy first, so he knows he can do it, then the unfamiliar object won't be so tricky.
Lupin doesn't like to hold objects, if its not edible she
spits it out! I have a video of that too!

We're coaching this young dogs owner, helping her to train her so she becomes the easy companion we all want our dogs to be. We've covered a range of things, including teaching her an 'in your bed' and 'settle' cue (rather than jump at work surfaces and visitors) and loose lead walking.

Session 2 with this poppet, coaching her owner on a send to bed cue and door manners, so we can get calm behaviour around visitors. Look at her happy leap into bed when she's given the cue to go there, and she stays in place until given the 'okay' release cue. Door manners are essential to teach, but in this scenario, it relates to reducing the hyped energy around the front door.
