Our #bacheloretteoftheweek this week is Xena and isn’t she just SO beautiful?! Xena was found at an elementary school by our founder when she was picking her son up from school one afternoon about a year ago. She noticed that Xena had also recently had puppies so she went on a mission to find the home she came from. Thankfully, she was able to spot the puppies hanging out on someone’s porch so she knocked on the door to notify the owners that their dog was in a dangerous situation. The owner was clearly overwhelmed and needed help so she asked us to take both Xena and pups to give them a better life. Of course we couldn’t say no, so she piled the pups and Xena into her car and off she went! Not too long after, her pups each found their own Furever Match. Sadly, Xena is still waiting for her Furever Match to come sweep her off her paws!
Xena is just a baby herself and only about 2yrs old. Our matchmaking team thinks she might be pointer mix because of her color patterns but your guess is probably as good as ours! She is fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped) and on monthly preventatives. Xena is a little bossy with other pups but she does love to play with them too so she would best be paired with a submissive, easy going pup. Xena loves kids and babies but would likely want to chase the kitty cats. We have been trying our best to slow down and even close our intake to give our team a much needed break to recharge. Compassion fatigue is a very real issue in our line of work. This is not the kind of 9-5 job that you can clock in and out of. When you work with live animals its an every day task. Sometimes you find yourself up at 2am taking care of a sick puppy.. even after working all day. We work every holiday and there are no sick days, We are often exhausted and there are days when we feel we are fighting an uphill battle that we may never win.. but giving up is not an option. After announcing our "break" and slowing our intake, we have had to turn away SO many deserving animals and our hearts break daily for them. At this time we are only taking on the most urgent of cases. We hope to open our intake back up once we are able to rebuild and find a few more volunteers to join our team. We need help with things such as emails, social media, transports, etc. Until then, we will continue to help as many as we can within our limits while keeping our volunteer's mental wellbeing a priority. With that being said, there are still quite a few animals in urgent situations that we are still working with and trying to save. Recently, our founder/director Justine, was driving home when a dog started chasing her Jeep. When she got out to try to help him, she noticed about five more dogs in the yard closest to her. She went to the door and knocked hoping to speak to the owner about getting them some help but they weren’t home. She left our card and waited hopefully... weeks went by and still the dogs were there and no call/text from the owner. Without permission from their owner, we aren’t allowed to do much and animal control was already notified. Sadly, two dogs have been hit since that day. She started leaving her number for all of the surrounding neighbors in hopes for some answers.

Would anyone be able to foster these cutie? There are five 8 week old puppies in need of a foster ASAP! We just took in three older puppies from this family’s previous litter as they have two sets of males and female who each had their own litter. We have a strict “No family members left behind” rule but we cannot help them if we do not have a foster step up for them. All supplies will be provided and all vetting will be paid for and we can split them in twos if need be! Shelters are completely overrun and dogs are being put to sleep every day. I do believe this is one of the worst times for shelters right now. Everyone is packed and if these puppies end up in the shelter they could very likely be put to sleep or get sick which is often deadly for puppies in shelters. These puppies sadly, already have 3 strikes against them as they are black pitbull puppies (black dog syndrome) that will owner surrendered to the shelter if we cannot step in to help them. We all know the stigma that follows this breed alone but what you may not know is that owner surrenders are the FIRST to be KILLED in shelters because shelters are required to hold a stray dog for a stray hold period in order to give the owner enough time to reclaim them. In some shelters, owner surrenders are killed upon intake, never even allowing the dog a chance to survive long enough to be adopted. So taking in these babies will not only save their life, but most likely the lives of the dogs in the dogs that are already occupying space in the shelter. Which makes this an urgent matter and we are desperate to save them!

He came to us with his sidekick that may or may not be his puppy, (Cher) & she is also searching for her Furever Match! They can be adopted together or separately! This sweet guy is going to make someone very happy! Sonny is a 1yr old black lab mix and he is a gentle soul just looking for his Furever Match! Sonny is great with all people, and pups too! It’s #tongueouttuesday !! & Betty is just the perfect pup to show off for it! Who couldn’t love this sweet girl!? We don’t know why she hasn’t met her Match yet! Just look at her adorable face! Betty loves other dogs and people too, she’s just a little shy at first but quickly warms up to you and rolls over for belly rubs! She is a very good girl but she is very agile and a 4ft chain link fence is no match for this girl! She will need a privacy fence or to be walked on a leash outside. She does come when she’s called and she loves spending time outside! She does well with children also! Good morning everyone! We hope your morning has started off on the right foot/paw! We want to start this week by sharing our adorable little #bacholeretteoftheweek , Joy! Joy is a Belgian Malinois mix puppy (we suspect mixed with Boxer but not sure). She is incredibly smart, very driven, and eager to please. Joy has had two meet and greets now but still no match! This happens sometimes but we try not to get discouraged. Our goal is always to place the right family with the right dog to make a FUREVER MATCH!
With that being said, Joy is in search of a pretty specific match. She is looking for a family with another dog to play with.. trust us, this is for everyone’s benefit. She NEEDS a playmate. She needs a home that understands her breed and all the amazing qualities that come along with it. This breed can be challenging for inexperienced homes so please do your research before applying!
