Real life dog training!

When training your reactive dog you will get setbacks, it important to keep preserving! 👍

When you are training in the real world, you will come across lots of reactive dogs!🐕🐕

In the first video, the other dog is fixating on Fudge from quite far away, and is pulling to get to him! Fudge struggles to control his arousal and reacts!

After a correction, he's in a much calmer state of mind, and ignores the other dog!🐶

You will have bad days with your dog, just have to keep pushing and putting in the work!👍

Fudge going well focusing on his neutrality around other dogs in town today!🐕🐕

We do lots of 20 minutes training session throughout the day, in different environments, under different levels of distractions!👍

It's much more productive to do lots of short training sessions throughout the week rather then training your dog once every Sunday for an hour! 🤔

Recall(come towards me) is one of the most important commands to teach your dog!🐶🐶

The end goal is that what ever the environment, distractions, whether there are multiple dogs/people/food on the ground your dog your dog should reliably come to you when called!🐕🐕

Fudge progressing nicely with his training!👍

Fudge can get very over aroused around other dogs!🐕🐕

The reactivity of your dog depends on many things, one of which is if the other dog is very reactive, then it will be much more difficult for your dog!👍

Here a pug is snapping at every dog that walks past(oblivious to the owners enjoying the tea!)😆

Rather then add a consequence for the pug reacting, the owner picks the dog up, rewarding the dog, also the other dog moves away, another reinforcement!🐕

If you have a leash reactive dog, Teaching them to walk calmy next to you on one side can dramatically improve their reactivity!🐕🐕

When we teach a dog to walk at a "heel", we have a set criteria:

-walk on either left of right hand side
-calm state of mind
-no tension on the leash
-behind or next to left/right knee
-no marking/sniffing
-10/15 minutes of structured walking then being released(free/break).

We spend lots of time with the training dogs in cafes, bunnings, outside dog parks, town, trying to generalise their behaviours!👍
