Our story begins in October of 2014 when I happened upon an advertisement on Craigslist for a litter of Belgian Malinois puppies. I had loved this breed for many years and had tried to get one many times when I was younger but my father just wouldn't have it. At this time I was living on my own so I obviously had to have one of these puppies. After a lot of reading and preparation I went to see th
e litter and immediately knew which pup was going to be mine. I named him Sagan because I knew he was such a smart dog (and because I'm a nerd). He has been such a great dog and I have completely fallen in love all over again with this breed. Due to complicated circumstances I was forced to move and was unable to take Sagan with me so my parents agreed to take him. This is where my mom comes into the story. She has loved animals all her life. I knew she would be thrilled to have him and he would be spoiled rotten living with her. She already loved him and as soon as he got to her in Virginia they started Schutzhund work. He loved it, and when I say loved it I mean he couldn't get enough of it. My mom had a great time too and decided that she was going to join the club and start training. After months of successful training and a couple of minor injuries (to the handler of course, these dogs are indestructible) my mom had to take a break due to shoulder surgery and recovery that took much longer than expected. These months brought discussion of another dog to keep him company which gave way to discussions of possible breeding. Months and months of research and heavy thought resulted in a decision to get a little girl and raise her up with the intention of heavy competition and likely breeding. We brought the pup home and named her Lexie. My mom keeps Sagan in Virginia and I keep Lexie in Georgia now that I can again have a pet. One day she will go to live with Sagan but for now, it's time to get to training!
