I’ve owned dogs since I was five years old and have been directly responsible for them since I was a teenager. I've trained puppies as well as rescues with a variety of issues, so I’m comfortable handling various canine quirks. I also love pets of all types and am comfortable taking care of small or exotic animals as well.
I most recently had an elderly Corgi who struggled with dementia. He required specialized daily care so I am used to being extra attentive. I am happy to work with special-needs pets who may need to be administered medication or fed a particular diet.
I am a respectful house guest and am very conscientious when pet sitting in someone else’s home. Previously, I was asked to house sit for a individual in Austin who liked to travel, and ended up house sitting (aka living there) for almost two years.
FLEXIBLE: I am willing to work with my clients on the types and pricing of services that I offer for unique needs. Do you need an hour long walk or a two hour drop in? Do you want regular daily walks? Let's discuss!
PREPARED: When I pet sit, I provide my own treats and biodegradable p**p bags. I travel with dog and cat toys in my car as well. I also have 3 dog "car seat" straps to help transport pups safely in the event we need to go somewhere.
LARGE DOGS: I am willing to take dogs over 100 pounds if their temperament is manageable for me. Let's discuss what your huge doggo needs!
CATS: I am allergic to cats, so I am only able to do drop-in appointments for felines, and cannot stay overnight in a home with kitties. My apologies! For drop ins, I need $15 for a solo cat. If the cat is in addition to a dog or there are multiple cats, the price will be adjusted to $10 per cat.
GROOMING: I offer baths and will bring my own supplies unless the owner requests otherwise. I am willing to groom/bathe a dog for you or assist you in grooming your animal. I carry a variety of grooming tools and shampoo in my car so I'm ready at a moment's notice. Rates for grooming vary based on the size of the dog, how much involvement I have, and if we do it at your house or mine. I can also help with toe trimming, brushing, light hair trims, etc. (I am NOT a professional groomer but have had multiple dogs with long hair.) Message me to discuss rates for your pet and needs.
SAFETY: I have taken a pet CPR and First Aid class to ensure I am as prepared as possible for all pet services I offer. I am also trained to be a civilian first responder and do safety volunteering at large scale events. I carry a pet first aid kit in my car along with a tick remover so I am ready for any eventuality.
FRIENDLY: I am q***r and offer friendly and safe services to people in the LGBTQ community. I am non-judgmental of alternative households and relationships. Q***r pups need love too!
DONATIONS: When you book with me, you are also donating to Austin Pets Alive! I give 3% of each booking to APA.
What Rachel "Lily" would like to know about your dog
I’d like to know about your pup’s temperament issues, energy levels, favorite activities, and trigger issues. It would also be helpful to know how they are typically walked. Do you use a leash and collar? Harness? Is your dog used to a gentle leader? Do they require medication or a special diet?
When Rachel "Lily" watches your pet
I bring treats to each visit to help build trust and affection with each doggo. I will give your pooch time to adjust and come to me on their own terms before I start petting them. Once contact has been established, I like to provide belly rubs and butt scratches – everyone loves a good butt scratch! :)
I enjoy playing rope or throwing a ball for an active dog. I also live near a greenbelt and can take pups for adventure walks in the park. I take lots of pictures and provide feedback via Rover Cards for each visit or walk.
I work from home full-time Monday through Friday from 10a-6:30p. I can do a home visit or walk before 10:00 AM on weekdays or during my lunch break. Otherwise, I am looking for evening work or on weekends.
