We have started lambing 🧡 and today the first lambs went out in the field.

I saw a post with lambs in a crystalyx tub being moved to the field by dragging the tub along, although I thought that was a good idea, our field is a good 100m away from the lambing pen so I adapted a garden trolley!

The mums seem much more settled following this that following the lamb being carried and I think the lambs quite liked it too! It was much easier for mum and lamb to talk to each other, and easier on my back! 🤣🧡

Are you missing a flock of sheep?

A flock has escaped onto the A45 near Ryton. We’ve managed to clear the road and are currently trying to identify the owner and make contact with them. If you can help please call us on 101 quoting incident 66 of today.

Yesterday we sold our lovely friendly shearling tup Bryland Osiris and hope he works well for his new owners in Thurso 🥰

Having only planned to buy two new girls to join the flock John seems to have come home with three…. 🖤 🖤🖤

Does that mean I can get a new horse to balance things out…? 🐴

from today. Paracetamol needed when my back hurt a lot (Thank you Sharron and Morna for your help!). The sheep picked up some good placings including a win for our aged homebred ewe Bryland Monarch.

Could this have been the largest turnout of Hebrideans at a show this year? over 100 entries from 13 flocks! (It was twice as many as any other breed at the Border Union!) What a turnout and we mostly managed to stay dry!

Home and in the door after a fun week at the Great Yorkshire Show

Our sheepies did not disappoint picking up placings in the classes including winning the pairs and group of three classes.

This meant we were in the pairs and GoT interbreed championships today.

As John had to go home early the lovely Neil helped with the handling in the classes (Thank you Neil!)

We were blown away to be pulled forward to the final 6 in the interbreed Group of Three, it was amazing to be pulled forward but then to be presented with 3rd was amazing! 👏👏

🥉 in the GOT Interbreed!! against 20+ other breeds!! How amazing is that 🧡🧡🧡

Fantastic week at the Royal Highland Show for our small wee Hebby flock 🥰🥰

We took 7 sheep and everyone was placed! 🧡🧡
We also took two fleeces which placed🥇 and 🥉!

9 entries, 9 rosettes 🏵️ What a good team!

Thank you to Morna 💛 for showing Harrier and to Sam 💜 for (your sheep showing debut) helping John with the rest of the gang while I was off competing with the horse! It meant I didn’t have a grumpy husband as you were awesome! 🤩

I can confirm that an A. W. Jenkinson Forest Products riding arena surface makes a cosy bed for a Hebridean sheep! 🤣🤣
