This has become my pet yard chicken… Juanita who I’m pretty sure is Don Juan. Raised this one in a group that was supposed to be all pullets for a friend. Wasn’t sure about this one so kept it back and I become more sure everyday that it is a roo 🤦‍♀️ it doesn’t mesh with any of my others but follows me around like I am its mother so I’m cool with my new friend staying forever now 🤣 what’s one more 🤷🏼‍♀️

All the chicks got to go out to finally enjoy some beautiful weather. The older group got to go out for the first time last week but the younger ones went out for the first time today! 🙌 all will be coop ready soon. To be honest, they probably could go out now but I have had great success keeping them in a bit longer at night. 😍😍😍

My aunt sent me this adorable cup so of course we had to have a little photo shoot. I had every intention of taking pictures of her in the cup but Helga doubled in size quicker than I realized. 😍 Thank you!!! 😘

Sometimes loss happens. It sucks but there is always a reason we may not understand. We found Agatha today resting peacefully and to say I’m heartbroken is an understatement. We got her from someone who no longer wanted her and we have no way of knowing how old she was. We fixed her up a year ago and she was a wonderful addition to our flock that laid giant oblong eggs. I adore her breed so we will have more someday. I think I have one of her eggs in the incubator too hopefully 🙏🏻

Thank you for being such a sweet, goofy girl that provided our family with food this past year. Rest in peace sweet girl. 💜

Candled our eggs in the incubator tonight and out of 12 we are positive 11 are viable!!! Woot woot go Cogburn. 1 was questionable so we will candle them again in the future. Picture of our awesome Roo below. Cogburn is such a good rooster. He always makes sure the hens are safe and fed before him. 🥰

Raising chickens does not have to be complicated! I cook up their eggs once or twice a week with their shells mashed in and some spices to promote their health. 🥰 they love it! It’s a great way to add protein, calcium, and natural grit to their diet.
