Gonzales Dog Adoptions / Gonzales Dog Shelter Municipal Dog Shelter, Gonzales, TX( aka " Gonzales City Pound" Gonzales Dog Adoptions Inc. All donations are tax deductible. Mailing Address: GDA , P.O.
(57)

is a 501(c) 3 Tax Exempt Non-Profit organization that has been running Gonzales Municipal Dog Shelter for City of Gonzales . Box 192, Gonzales, TX 79629
Physical Address: 400 CR 488, Gonzales, TX 78629

Gonzales is a rural town, 60 miles from both Austin and San Antonio, and has a population of only around 8,000 residents. However, our small shelter intakes about 30+ dogs a month on average. We ar

e an open-door facility, which means we cannot turn away ANY dogs from the City of Gonzales, and our shelter has a maximum capacity of 20 -25 dogs. We try EXTRA hard not to put down ANY adoptable dogs for the sole reason of making space, and have maintained our status as one of the very few “Open-Door-NO-Kill” Municipal Shelters in TX. Unfortunately, the more our reputation spreads, the MORE people OUTSIDE OF GONZALES COUNTY ask us to take over their dogs. HOWEVER, we are NOT legally allowed to take in dogs in other county. Thank you for understanding. We rely on donations and adoption fees to cover operational costs. Any donations are greatly appreciated. All of the dogs at our shelter have been fully vaccinated and have been spay/neutered. Come and Adopt’em!

Red wants to know if he can come play with his new toy at your house?

Red is a sweet and friendly boy who gets along with everyone - humans, dogs, kids, and likely even cats and chickens! 🐈🐓 He's ready to find his forever home, but his medical condition has been discouraging potential adopters. 👎🏻

⚕️Medical Condition:

Red has an abnormal leg due to past neglect, requiring future Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery. Although he's currently comfortable and not in pain, the surgery is recommended to prevent early-onset arthritis. GDA will cover the surgery costs!

🐾Recovery Care:

We want Red to recover in a comfortable and loving environment, not a shelter kennel with a concrete floor, so his surgery has been postponed until he is adopted! Don't let his medical condition deter you! Red is a loving and affectionate boy who promises to bring joy to his forever family. Let's find him a home where he can heal and thrive!

🚨Urgent Foster Needed for Sweet Cinnabon!

Meet Cinnabon, a lovable and playful girl under a year old, weighing around 40lbs. Due to her previous owner's incarceration, she was surrendered to GDA and is now in need of a foster home.

Cinnabon has some injuries from a harness that was too tight and slightly embedded, but our vet has prescribed antibiotics to aid in her recovery. With regular cleanings and proper care, she's expected to heal quickly.

*Give Cinnabon a Second Chance*

This sweet girl deserves a loving and nurturing environment to thrive. If you can provide a foster home for Cinnabon, please reach out to us!

Meet Bonnie, a Sweet Senior-ish Gal!

Bonnie is a gentle soul and one of the sweetest gals at GDA. Despite her tough start in life, she's a laid-back and loving companion. Here's her story:

Bonnie and her sidekick Bo were once stray dogs, roaming near the busy HEB/Wells Fargo/Walmart intersection in Gonzales. After multiple pickups by local police, her owner decided not the reclaim her. This sweet 4-5 year old, 60-pound girl has been fully vetted and is ready for her forever home.

Bonnie loves to take it easy and isn't a high-energy dog. She enjoys running around in our dog yards, but she's also happy to chill out. Although she got stressed in the shelter environment, a foster home stay revealed her amazing personality - sweet, well-mannered, and completely housebroken.

*Foster Mom's Testimonial*

"Bonnie is an AMAZING girl! She loves water, gets along with other dogs, and enjoys outings to the lake and river."

Contact us if you think Bonnie might be the perfect fit for your family!

The person who had taken over the dog's has blocked the original owner on all platforms and Mr Garcia is desperately searching for this dog. Please be on the look out and help getting dog home!

Update on Harwood and Mimi.

We are thrilled to share the remarkable transformation of Harwood and Mimi, who arrived at GDA six months ago. At 12 weeks old, they were in a dire state - Mimi suffered from the worst flea infestation I've seen this year, while Harwood battled severe demodex mange due to neglect.

Fast forward to today, and these two are now happy, healthy, and chubby (30-35 lbs each!) six-month-olds! They will visit the vet clinic for full vetting, including spaying/neutering, heartworm testing, rabies shots, and microchipping soon!

Both dogs are excellent with people and make great country dogs, taking their guard duties seriously. They're an incredible duo, and adopting one (or both - they're besties!) would bring immense joy. Don't miss out on giving these amazing dogs a forever home!

Adoption Fee: $100 includes
Spaying/Neutering
Up-to-date Vaccinations
Microchipping
Heartworm Testing and Treatment (if positive)

🐾An additional refundable deposit of $100 is required for puppies. This deposit will be refunded once we receive confirmation that the puppy has been spayed/neutered at our designated vet (at our cost)

Contact our adoption counselor to start the approval process:

FOUND DOG IN NEED OF A HOME!

She was picked up near peach creek on 532 outside Gonzales. We have nicknamed her "Betty" She's a very sweet girl. She's just a little too rowdy sometimes. We have elderly who live here and she's too much for them to handle while I am at work. She will need training, however, I have crate trained her. And working on house training, she still has accidents. She will sit and shake on command. She's a good girl, just not a good fit here.
