The past two weeks have been so cold and snowy, but the horses haven’t seemed to even notice. Silly babies played endlessly in the fresh powder, the old ladies ate their way through the storms, and everyone was bundled up as needed. Thank goodness for the indoor to keep the horses ridden in this winter weather!

Welcome Colmena II, a stunning ten year old BUCKSKIN Andalusian mare 🤩 She shipped here from Wellington, FL and safely arrived this evening. She will join the farm as the first Andalusian broodmare - so exciting! We anticipate one more incredible PRE mare to join the broodmare herd this winter, so stay tuned for updates ✨

A big congratulations goes out to the new owner of Griffin! She flew out here from Colorado just to meet Griffin and fell in love. I think the feeling was mutual!
Breeding horses is hard…it’s exhausting, it’s heartbreaking, and yet it’s absolutely amazing to watch the babies grow up. Matches like this one is what makes it all worth while ❤️

We tried something new! If you’ve never tried working equitation, it’s worth getting out and giving it a shot. Zuko was completely at ease with the obstacles and rose to the challenge. We conquered the garrocha pole and didn’t even stab an eye out 😂 Best of all, Zuko was a solid citizen and didn’t bat an eye in a group of cute mares.

Another educational and productive clinic with Felicitas von Neumann is in the books! Always patient and fair, she helped Zuko get more swing through his back and better bend in the lateral work. Best of all, Zuko gave his heart out and we left with a lot of homework!

Remember King, the March 2023 save from a kill pen? This last year he’s filled many roles and he’s become the go-to horse for babysitting youngsters on hacks through the farm. EVERY SINGLE DAY this horse stands outside of his stall and patiently waits for me to pull him out for his turn. If I take too long, or am tacking up another horse, he BANGS on the door until I come get him. King loves attention and going out for rides, though he’s stoic on the outside and it has taken a long time to get him out of his shell. Today we did what he loves…we hunter paced over 5.75 miles of gorgeous countryside and traversed some pretty crazy terrain - sliding down rocky trails, jumping through ravines, visits from black tree snakes and surviving a few very sketchy bridges! He loved EVERY minute!! Me…I could have passed on the sliding and snakes 😳Thank you Haylee and her trusty Apollo for once again coming along for the adventure!
