We endeavour to create enclosure backgrounds and accessories that compliment an immersive environment that is aesthetically pleasing, durable and tailored to the specific requirements of your creature. Animal Welfare is central in all aspects of the design process and all bespoke orders are made with your requests in mind. Environmental Policy:
Our studio is committed to maintaining and improving
our ethical standards of sustainably and supports ongoing conservation education. Our core materials are sustainably sourced from local suppliers and are made from recycled materials. Our pledge is that with each sale, a donation will be made on your behalf to one of our approved conservation organizations. Get in touch to find out more about where this goes and learn how else you can make a contribution. Seven Foundation Criteria:
Functional – Our backgrounds create an additional dimension by utilizing what is otherwise dead space within the enclosure. We can take this a step further and maximize your animal’s exploration range and engagement by incorporating attributes into the piece such as basking ledges, perches, vantage points, feeders, crevasses and hides as well as water and heat sources. These contribute towards your animal’s five essential standards by supplying: food, water, light, shelter & warmth. Enrichment – Mental health, a strong metabolism and physical exercise are vital to maintaining a healthy animal. Our designs are tailored to encourage natural behaviours as we consider the social, behavioural and mental requirements for a species. We set targets to stimulate their senses and evoke the instinctual responses that they would need to thrive in the wild. These include concepts such as stimulated predator/prey reactions, territorial or communal living strategies, physical and mental challenges and thermoregulation. By creating spaces and puzzles within our backings we give opportunities for creatures to demonstrate these innate behaviours while keeping them active and engaged. This reduces stress thus mitigating the stereotypical behaviours and stress indicators commonly witnessed within the hobby. Accessible – As keepers ourselves we understand the importance of being able to access all areas of an enclosure for safety, cleaning and maintenance. While our pieces are weighty, we have devised methods that allow you the choice of permanently fix backings into position or removing it regularly with ease. Alterations can be made to consider light positioning, cord paths as well as space and access limitations. Immersive – Crafted to be a cohesive design that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, not only complimenting your species but becoming the centrepiece of your exhibit. We aim to incorporate furnishing in ways to disguise them into the design and mitigate all blemishes. This can be enhanced with the addition of features like water fountains, vegetation, skulls, fossils and fog machines all accumulating to generate an alluring atmosphere. Durable – Created as a solid structure capable of sustaining ongoing heat and light exposure in conjunction with varying degrees of water resistance. From a basic level allowing misting and sponging to wet environments, fountains or completely submersible pieces. Additionally, the surface is cement and can withstand the strongest of ongoing claw erosion. Affordable – We established this hobby due to a noticeable gap in market between what was a fetching, quality background and what was reasonably affordable. During our journey, we have sourced better quality materials, improved our technique and made a commitment to sustainable initiatives which has continued to reflect in our quality and prices. We have a responsibility to maintain sustainable practices and not contribute to further wildlife destruction or support negligible keeping practices. In addition to this we have made a pledge to give a contribution of every sale we make towards Wildlife Conservation Organisations and encourage you to consider how your keeping practices can improve the standards in this industry and support these animals in the wild.
