Matriach & beginning of Furrballz, Stumpy, may she RIP 1999 - 2019

Furrballz Ragdolls are a family run Registered Breeding cattery (GCCFV) since 1998. We live in rural Gippsland on small acreage with our sheep, chooks, horses, cats and dog. We have been active in showing our cats over the years and DNA testing against PKD & HCM as well. We also guarantee our kittens for FOUR years against these known genetic issues so we can have trace-ability should the unthinkable occur. In early 2019, we lost around 20 cats and kittens (some thru pregnancy loss) to toxic meat sold to us. This included both of our studs, our 19.5yo Matriach Stumpy, her descendant we were keeping for breeding, Dawn and a gorgeous litter of 4 week old kittens. We were not sure we could continue breeding, and chose to desex all our remaining breeding girls and take a break. Some of our desexed older girls showed that they needed to be placed in homes that didnt have multiple cat homes, so they were re-homed appropriately. Recently, we were given the opportunity to move forward with some of our lines in some of our breeder friends cats and we will stay very small in our breeding with only a couple of girls and one boy. So hopefully 2021 will bring new babies and New Furrballz!!
