Peaceabull Assembly Stories and pictures of peace, love and rescue. Showcasing just how average a day in the lives of these Pit Bull boys really is.

Two rescued pit bulls and their kitties are now just living the life and sharing the love.

Dusting off the old blog…

I haven’t typed a word here since November 30, 2021 though mentally, I think of lots of things to write they never seem to make the journey to virtual paper. Life, as we know it, goes on, or …

Side by side, I see a big difference in Chuck’s appearance after coming to live at the Peaceabull Assembly. The first picture was taken after being with us 24 hours and the second was taken 3 months later.

THE most challenging and yet rewarding foster to ever have stayed in the Peaceabull Assembly, Bryn was labeled dog and cat aggressive and came to us with heart worms. She barely showed a spark for life in her assessment but finally that one magical moment shone through and saved her life. She stayed with us from July through October, separated both physically and visually from our dogs and cats, but she found her magical home early on and her loving mom-to-be came to visit her often, bringing gifts and hope. Our Bryncess was so very loved and I know she will be truly missed. 🌈

Brynn Trudell, passed away no June 29, 2024. She was a beloved member of the household, known for her shy yet sweet demeanor and unwavering love. She found solace in being and was grateful for the forever home provided to her.

Brynn will be fondly remembered for her endearing qualities - from chasing bunnies and cats to her love for indulgent like ice cream and bologna. Her playful spirit shone through when she engaged with her favorite squeaker toy, could always be found begging for peanut butter and chewing on her bone, bringing joy to those around her.

Among her proudest accomplishments were the simple pleasures in life that brought her immense happiness. Whether it was accompanying Drew on leisurely walks or taking 14-hour naps twice a day, Brynn relished every moment spent being petted and cared for by her doting family.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving parents Andrew and Christine, who provided her with endless love and companionship throughout her life. Brynn's memory will live on through the joyful moments shared with those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

I always have at least one throw rug in the car that Julius can use as his mat. This is why we practice with them in class and encourage them to be carried everywhere.

ICYMI-
The Assembly has been missing the pitter patter of kitty feet since Miko passed. This stretch of time is the first time in over 25 years that we’ve not had a cat in our home and while we tried out a puppy or two, Julius made it clear that a feline friend is more to his liking.
With that, meet Chuck. He’s 9 years old and will be turning 10 in a couple months, and previously lived in a home with a dog. Chuck is an avid head butt-er, nosy, vocal, and nonchalant. Chuck is also the first feline I’ve ever met who doesn’t respond to “kitty-kitty.” He responds to Chuck. Julius is over the moon happy to have a feline friend in the house.

It’s hard to believe, but my little boy is turning 11 this month! I look at Julius and I’m filled with love- all the love he deserves. He’s been my sidekick who is always up for an adventure, my dog about town, so to speak, but still appreciates plush blankets, fluffy pillows and an early bedtime. When I found him roaming the streets as a puppy he was estimated to be 5-6 months old which made February his birthday month and I often considered it to be Valentine’s Day, though we didn’t really celebrate it often. This year we are officially going to celebrate on the 18th which will also mark his 5th anniversary as a Certified Therapy Dog. In honor of these two events, we are humbly asking for donations to Julius’s favorite charity St Joseph Missions. He loves his bi-weekly visits to see “his ladies” and while his mama usually raises money for pit bulls, the pit bull is raising money for the humans.

There’s usually at least one person, who when she sees Julius wears “the look” on her face. We know that’s the lady who doesn’t mind him being there as long as he stays on his side of the room. That’s what happens when you’re an 80 (ahem +) pound black pit bull.
Then the other ladies arrive. There’s usually at least one who has already met him on a previous visit and is ready to shower him with hugs and pets. They tell him they really needed a dog visit today and he listens to their hearts. He loves them and their attention unconditionally and for a moment, all the stress of the day subsides, if only for a fleeting moment.
Then, it never fails, the one. The one with “the look” says, “he can come over here.” And with that, another heart captured.

One thing I’ve always wanted to do is to volunteer on a holiday but I also wanted it to not be a “one off” situation. Fortunately, Julius and I have a regular schedule at St Joseph Missions and our visit night fell on Christmas so we were able to fulfill our wish. It was lovely sitting in the kitchen and chatting with the ladies, sharing some holiday joy. (Unfortunately I didn’t think of taking a picture until after we heard a messenger ding.)

The “Assembly” was created to highlight the peace enjoyed between my kitties and pitties. What was once a fur family of five his now just Julius in this plain. I have so many beautiful mementos of Ray and now this beautiful sun catcher of my kitties, which includes their ashes.
