IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR A VOUCHER ...
please do not submit if you have already received a voucher for your pet. Only one voucher is issued per household, per year. We are seeing numerous cases of applicants who have already been issued vouchers reapplying for the same pet. The application process is time cumbersome for volunteers and we would prefer to focus efforts on those in need.

If you applied previously and do not recall receiving a voucher or a decline email, PLEASE CHECK YOUR J*NK MAIL.

The application period is open THROUGH DECEMBER 10TH this cycle so be sure to tell your friends and neighbors!

As a reminder, each voucher holds an expiration date and WILL NOT be accepted past that date.

If you have received a voucher for your pet this year and have NOT YET SCHEDULED your pet's surgery, please let us know how we can help get this moving for you before your voucher expires.

10/11/24 - October vouchers have now been emailed. Please be sure you READ the accompanying email as it includes instructions on how to schedule the surgery using the voucher.

Also, if you have received a voucher earlier in the program year and have not yet scheduled your pet's surgery, please be reminded if the voucher expires it WILL NOT be re-issued and you won't be eligible to apply again for a year - TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. Schedule your pets ASAP as our primary provider is booked out about two months ahead!

We have received multiple applications from outside of Berkeley County. ***THIS PROGRAM IS FOR BERKELEY COUNTY RESIDENT PETS ONLY.*** Out-of-county persons needing low cost spay/neuter resources can visit our site and review the Resources page for local options that are not county-specific. Applications from outside of Berkeley County SC will not be considered.

2. PLEASE REVIEW THE WEBSITE to understand the process, how this works, etc. This program is for OWNED DOGS AND CATS, not feral or colony cats. There are TNR programs locally you can access for feral or colony cats - information is on our website on the Resources page.

**BERKELEY COUNTY SC RESIDENTS ONLY**

Applications will be open October 1 through October 5 for both CATS and DOGS! To apply, you must do so through our website - visit the "How This Works" page on our site during open applications for more information.

Also, please note, the supporting documentation MUST MATCH your name and current address under which you have applied. This will help us to expedite processing of the applications.

As a reminder, there is a limit of 20 vouchers. While those who have not been approved in previous application periods are invited to re-apply, please note that we will only issue one voucher per household per year. Please refrain from submitting multiple applications at one time—they will not be considered.

Heads-up: The October voucher cycle opens tomorrow (October 1). Please remember to visit the website as all program information is listed there for your review. Answers to questions such as, "How do I apply?", for example, can all be found on the website.

The cycle will be open at 8am on October 1 and run through 5pm on October 5.

Successful applicants, please be reminded that vouchers do bear an expiration date. If you don't schedule your pet and the voucher expires, it *WILL NOT* be re-issued and you won't be eligible to reapply for a one-year period from that issue date. We want people to use this program - that's why we started it! So please, if you took the time to apply and received a voucher, be sure you follow through ASAP and get your pet on the surgery schedule. Thank you.

The September voucher cycle brought us to our 98th voucher since we started in May!

Maybe that doesn’t sound like much, but you must look at it from the exponential value:

* One unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 dogs in only 6 years. That's not a typo - THAT'S SIXTY-SEVEN THOUSAND!

* One unfixed female cat can have more than 100 kittens in her lifetime, and assuming that half of those kittens born are females, she and her offspring can go on to have upwards of 300-400 kittens in 7 years. Do that math!

To those of you who have applied and are using the service, we thank you for taking this critical step toward responsible pet ownership in the community.

Our next cycle will run October 1-5, 2024 so follow along and be ready when the cycle opens!
