We offer the convenience of both ambulatory (mobile) veterinary services – allowing us to go to clients for their veterinary care needs – and a centrally-located haul-in clinic, where patients are brought to us. We specialize in equine veter

inary medicine but do also treat small animals while we are at farms. Our full veterinary services are provided using a combination of Western and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. Our services range from simple exams and diagnostics to specialized surgical procedures, from sports medicine and lameness to veterinary acupuncture, dentistry, reproduction, and emergency care. We are the only practice on the West Coast to offer shock wave treatment, and among a very small few to have this technology in Florida. SCV offers a full service veterinary treatment and guidance approach, so that our clients and patients receive the best care possible.

🫏 Meet Melvin the wild donkey who before meeting Dr. Connick (pictured - the man, not the donkey!) would not let any human, let alone a veterinarian, even approach him. Dr. Connick was able to befriend and treat him, much to the human audience’s surprise and relief. It might be the luck of the Irish, but we (and Melvin) definitely feel lucky to have you, Dr. Connick! ☘️

Aside from the typical treatments for hoof abscesses, we can also provide services like acupuncture and Chinese herbs, which are fabulous to bring the abscess to a head for a quick resolution, thus speeding up the healing process.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions!

🐴 A night MARE!!! 😆

🐴 We’ve all heard of horses who stop sweating in the middle of the hottest months, right? What should we do? 🥵

The sooner you get your vet out to do acupuncture the better, but something you can do while you await treatment is to get your horse inside under fans during the high UV hours of the day.

This guy had a history of EPM causing him to become anhidrotic. He had completely stopped sweating (obviously a very dangerous situation) over a week prior to his acupuncture treatment, and this video was taken just after Dr. Francheville finished hooking the electric leads onto the acupuncture needles, so only a few minutes from when the first needle went in.

The most effective treatment for anhidrosis is an acupuncture treatment, followed by Chinese herbs that your vet will prescribe according to your horse’s Chinese medical diagnosis. We could keep telling you all about it and its benefits but we will instead let these videos speak for themselves.

Any questions about equine anhidrosis and what you can do to help treat it, please reach out!

With the warmest summer months upon us we wanted to send a reminder about equine anhidrosis. Anhidrosis is the absence of adequate amount of sweat in response to an increase in body temperature. In the past, treatment meant sending the horse to a cooler climate, but there are now many options.

New for Jun 2018: SCV has expanded and has officially opened a Canadian practice!

Located right on the ocean in Dr. Francheville's beautiful home province of Nova Scotia, Sunny Coast's newest haul-in clinic is complete with treatment stalls for in-hospital patients. The practice is also equipped with a fully-loaded mobile unit, capable of providing digital x-ray, ultrasound, shockwave (and many more services), on the road, to clients in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
