As we get ready to celebrate the New Year, lets remember that fireworks can be terrifying for many dog's and other critters. The loud consistent noises and bright flashes can cause anxiety and stress for our furry four legged family members.

Here are a few things to consider to ease the stress your critter may experience.

🐾 Create a safe space indoors, set up a cozy spot in your home where your dog can retreat to, away from the noise.

🐾 Exercise beforehand, a nice long walk or play session earlier in the day can help burn off some of that energy and reduce stress.

🐾 Distractions help, consider playing some calming music, or turning on the TV to help mask the sound of the fireworks.

🐾 Comfort and reassurance play an important part! Stay calm and offer comfort but don't overdue it, your dogs will look to you for cues. Consider a thunder shirt or products like Rescue Remedy to help take the edge off.

🐾 Be considerate of your neighbor's, if your celebration calls for fireworks consider letting neighbor's with dogs know ahead of time so they can bring them inside.

Lets make sure our animals feel safe and loved during this holiday season. 🐈‍⬛🐕

👋🏻Hello Friends! Meet Sven and Gwen!

Sven is a Weimaraner/Shar Pei cross. His tongue looks like he licked an ink pad because it has the blue spots on it! Sven is 10 years old, and he came from Mexico. He was found with his litter mates in a bucket in the jungles of Tulum! 🌴According to his owner, one of Sven’s favourite foods is mushrooms! He also LOVES zucchini.

Gwen is a 1.5 year old Great Pyrenees. Her owners got her from a farm in Keremeos. Gwen is going to be trained as a service dog for the owner’s son once she gets old enough and out of the puppy stage. Gwen forgets she's a lot bigger than the cats in the house, and she tries to play with them, which doesn't go over well! 🐈MEOW! Gwen loves jumping on the trampoline, and her favorite treats (other than our PB Biscuits) are apples and carrots!

Aren’t they the cutest?! 🐾😄🐾🤗
