The Marlinas were a last-minute addition to the Saturday bill, with spiky commentary in their well-constructed songs. Trust Club were a power trio full of noise and presence, followed by Velvet Cri…

Now that's all done for another year, if you came over the weekend as a punter (or if you're a punter turned performer, though DJs aside we think that only applies to one person), can we take a few minutes of your time for some feedback on both how we did and some thoughts we've had about next year's fifteenth anniversary Leicesterval? No personal information will be kept.

2027 will be the fifteenth Firebug festivity year, so we'd like to take this opportunity to ask you some questions if it's alright. Strict confidence and all that, your email address will not be recorded.

Unlikeliest reviewer we've ever had, but we'll take it.

Well.

Apologies to everyone we gave second hand anxiety to on Saturday night/Sunday morning, but that aside it all worked out very well in the end. Thank you to all the bands, everyone who came without whom this wouldn't still be a thing, especially to Nik on sound throughout and to everyone at Firebug for being accommodating.

Leicesterval 2027 is in the books for February 27th & 28th, and as it'll be the fifteenth anniversary of the first Alldayer - no, we still haven't recovered from that BMX Bandits early hours Q&A, and we didn't even stop for it all - we've got some special ideas and things in mind...

Jetstream Pony's 'schrammelig' luminous take on power-pop and post-punk, led by Beth Arzy (The Luxembourg Signal/Trembling Blue Stars/Aberdeen) and Shaun Charman (The Wedding Present/The Popguns/The Fireworks), saw last year's second album Bowerbirds And Blue Things gain approval from Riley & Coe amongst many others. You can hear what they're about as they headline the Saturday of Leicesterval 2026, the second annual Leicester Indiepop Weekender, in less than four weeks' time.

Less than thirty Saturday/weekend tickets remain: https://wegottickets.com/f/16033

Leicesterval 2026 ticket sales are more than halfway through the Saturday/weekend allocation but nowhere near where they were at the equivalent time for this year, so book now and then get everybody else to as well.

Last year's debut weekender went well enough that we're giving it another go, our unlucky for someone thirteenth gathering of DIY greatness in all. Saturday 28th February upstairs from 2pm to around 10.30pm (and there's going to be a dinner break this year!), Sunday 1st March downstairs from 3pm to....
