As the devastation in western North Carolina, southwest Virginia, and eastern Tennessee weigh heavy on our minds this week, VA Eventing would like to contribute to the recovery efforts.
At each of our shows for the rest of the season, we will have a donation collection point where competitors can drop off items they'd like to have sent to equestrians in need - we have connected with individuals who can get these donations directly to those who have been impacted by the storm.
We'd like to focus on the animal need with our collections but are willing to receive other donations as well - please see the flyer below for more information.
If you have a connection with a local clinic, reach out and see if they might have expired bandage materials, sterile saline, and non-prescription medications that are frequently needed to treat animals who have been exposed to flood waters and debris (triple antibiotic ointment, aluspray, non-steroid otic ointment, etc).
We can also help get these animals cleaned up by sending grooming brushes (clean, please!), hoof picks, shampoo, detangler, thrush buster, etc. Standing wraps, halters, and leadropes are also always helpful.
