ADBA

ADBA The ADBA is a full service, pure bred dog registry. ADBA sanctioned clubs span the nation and overseas, each focused and actively working towards the same goals.

We offer specialty Conformation Shows for the American Pit Bull Terrier, and Weight Pull and Top Dog Athletic Events for all dogs that are recognized as pure bred and registered with our company. To insure the continued existence of the APBT breed today and for generations to come. To educate the public to the truth about the APBT breed and it’s owners. To promote responsible ownership. To protect

individual freedom of choice. Education is the method our goal is achieved. We educate through the involvement of the club and its members within their community. Promotion of responsible ownership is achieved through verbal education as well as the daily actions of each individual, as well as hosting ADBA Sanctioned Conformation and Weight Pulling events. ADBA is committed to the advancement and success of our clubs. Along with providing our personal attention to individual club matters, we also have available to the clubs, the information, and the tools necessary to achieve this goal.

ATTN. WEIGHT PULLERS - We are more than halfway through the show calendar with a handful of events left for the 2024 show season.

When the Most Weight Pulled trophy was reinstated a few years ago it was with the understanding that if we didn't see an increase in weight pull entries, especially in the higher weight classses, then the MWP trophy would no longer be awarded.

We're strongly encouraging you to support your local clubs and bring those weight pulling dogs to the sanctioned events they are hosting. If the show department doesn't see an increase in weight pull numbers by the end of 2024 then changes will be made beginning in 2025. This will most likely be removal of the MWP trophy at all regular sanctioned events. The only event it would be awarded at would be ADBA Nationals.

It's up to you to make the change!

I want to clarify a question that has been coming into the office a lot recently regarding dogs earning extra points in sanctioned ADBA conformation shows.

A dog will receive extra points by PLACING over 10 dogs in its class. If there are 10 dogs in the class there aren't any extra points given. If there are 11 dogs in the class then only 1st place receives additional points. In order for 2nd and 3rd place to receive additional point they would have to place over 10 dogs meaning 13 dogs would have to be listed in the judges' books for that class.

Thank you for participating at our ADBA sanctioned events and supporting our sanctioned clubs!

**EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY**

The ADBA Board of Directors met today and two things will be effective immediately.

Sanctioned ADBA conformation judges will be allowed to attend, judge, and/or compete in any athletic sporting event (weight pull or Top Dog) as long as the event is NOT held on the same day as a sanctioned conformation show. (Please note - if you are the sanctioned judge for SUNDAY's conformation show, and there is a conformation show being held in conjunction with sporting events on SATURDAY, you may NOT attend that sporting event. But you can compete/attend/participate if the athletic sporting event is held separate on Friday night.)

If you are a sanctioned conformation judge and an Overall Top Dog Athletic Event Judge, the same rules apply and you may not enter a dog in an event you are judging or judge a family member or significant others dog(s), etc.

Also, in coordination with the sanctioned Top Dog Athletic Event Judge, a handler may use a treat for an out on the wall climb ONLY during a Top Dog Athletic Event. This will not be considered bait. The treat may not be more than 1 square inch. If the handler intends to use food as an out, the handler must notify the judge when they arrive at the wall. They will then show the treat to the judge prior to the dog's first attempt for approval. The treat must be given in a designated location OFF the run mat.

If you have any questions regarding these two changes please email [email protected]
