Signs of fall along the creek. Happy Thanksgiving. ~aer

Growling as he comes out of the brush . . . there must be another distraction over in the next field to get him to come over on his own. Could be another bull or some cows. The bovine equivalent of 'chest-pounding'. djw

It was a little windy up here. djw

Patience . . . shhhh . . . . watched this beaver quietly cruise the creek below us as 'we' repaired some fenceline. The beaver didn't seem to notice us there but all of a sudden, he slapped his tail and dove below the surface. Startled me . . . I apologize for the camera-shake! djw

Pause for lunch break. MOM - hold still, baby is hungry. She is quietly talking to her little one. You can hear the calf slurping away too. Good Mom! djw

A look at the full dam - where the water comes from and where it's headed. Those beavers will use anything in the construction of these dams in their efforts to hold back flowing water. djw

Yup - the winds are blowing up there! It's sure shoving the clouds around! We watched the clouds slide over the trees. djw

Our little Black Bear yearling that spent some time in our yard. This is a better video than the earlier one. He glanced towards me in the bedroom window and looked up when he heard T walking around on the deck above. It was an interesting experience. djw

Waddling off - turkeys made their way through the snow towards fresh territory. djw

Turkeys busy scrounging for seed below the birdfeeder- then one wandered off to search the yard for more grub. djw

Listen. As I opened the window, the turkeys left. djw

Our downspout is completely frozen and the warm sunshine started melting it. This view from above shows how much water we're dripping!! djw

These women live life in the country and invite you to share in this rural culture - around cattle, horses, wildflowers, birds, dark night skies, dusty roads, visit the historic towns in SW Alberta like Nanton or Longview and get plenty of quiet. Our partners can help you plan interpretive hikes through rangelands, along creekbanks, and into the foothills. They share their crafts, produce and experiences of life in the country. Or take you riding - horseback or a wagon ride to get another perspective of this wondrous landscape. Much of what we offer will include home-style meals prepared with local food and accommodation is available.
